She gave me the receptionist/optician's name.(Natalie) I got up my nerve and gave them a call. They couldn't have been nicer. Dr. Woodbridge is very personable and a sweetheart. I got a real, comprehensive exam. She has adorable kids. My eyes are good, but they have changed since the exam at the "other" place. They take my insurance, which is great! I like to wear vintage cateye frames from the 50s. Wasn't a problem. Natalie got it all measured up and sent out. She is very knowledgeable about vintage frames. They do seem to have a nice frame selection. Vicki was very pleasant too. I was concerned at first that Grandville was a drive, but definitely worth it. It's right downtown and easy to find. I guess what I really like is, this is old school service and courtesy. You aren't treated like "a-take-a-number-piece-of-meat." Definitely will be going back and telling everyone I know.

They had already checked on my insurance coverage, which takes a load off our minds right away. The optometrist, was amazing, and friendly! I could tell when I walked in people feel comfortable and cared for there. She took a full hour with me and explained different procedures with me, such as cataracts, contacts, bi- focals, eyelid correction& answered all my questions! Coming from a background where my brother Dr Dale Van Dyke, was always our family optometrist! I had moved back to Grandville and he was retired, so I tried the fast paced eye care places,like RX OPTICAL, etc...only to find rushed , and assembly line care. It was difficult to get answers and the followup I needed. I will follow up on this, later this year. Thank you WOODBRIDGE for being in Grandville! I've been working with MIchigan Optical for a long time now, and once again it paid off. They have worked hard to get my goofy vision in check, putting me in the best lenses that hold up to wear and tear, have a wide frame of view, and where glare isn't a worry. I've had lenses replaced a few times at Grand Rapids Eye Care. Took them back and re-explained the issue. Did an exam which showed I was correct. Lenses sent back and corrected. This past July I dropped off frames to get new lenses. Explained again and was told I was overdue for an exam. I stated this prescription was working perfectly and was not necessary. He looked up my cover​age in VSP, said "You've got good insurance and your exams are free." Turned down the exam. Not necessary. Prescription fine. Paid my deductible. Next morning, he calls me dayong the insurance company turned it do​wn without an exam and wanted yo schedule an exam. I turned it down and told I'd be in to p/u my frames and refund. I immediately called VSP who stated they received yhe request that's pending and did not/would not tell them that. I returned and picked up my frames and refunded copy. If I was told it was their policy, I can respect that. He lied blaming VSP to get the "FREE" exam out of my insurance company on top of the $600 sum lenses. I will mot do business with a dishonest retailer. The exam every two years is a recommendation not a requirement per VSP.​​​ ​​​ I will give someone else the "FREE" exam who doesn't lie to me to get it cause VSP will pay it. And we wonder why healthcare costs are up?

I think what I like best is that I can support a locally owned business that isn't run by a corporation. It is a great opportunity to help this small business grow. We all had to start somewhere. While there might have been a few hiccups they were quick to try to fix them in a timely manner. Hey, we are all human. Dr. Holser was very kind and explains things so that I could understand it. When I contacted them, they had no record of my son's trial daily lenses or what brand he used even though he has been seeing them for several years. The receptionist had to ask me for my lens prescription, I'm not sure why she couldn't just look it up in my file? Originally our prescriptions were able to be sent to us via email, but when called, they told us they could no longer send them. Then when they did give us them in person, they were the wrong prescriptions. I tried several sets of trial lenses and none of them worked, plus I had to call to find out if they were in yet. Nobody ever contacted me. It took over a month to get my prescriptions readjusted. I was first seen in April of 2025, and didn't get a correct prescription update until June of 2025. I've tried to go there in person twice when they were supposed to be open, and they had closed earlier than indicated on their door and on their website. My trial contacts took over 3 weeks to come in and I had to call to find out they were in. In October of 2025 I received a bill for my visits back in April. I'm not sure why they didn't bill them for Insurance when I was seen the first time. Clearly the organization needs a stronger team. I recently called Lowell Eye Care several weeks before my CostCo optical appointment. I requested to have my records sent to Costco since I would be changing my optometrist. My files were never sent over after being requested. I will no longer be Lowell Eye Care.
