I wanted to reach out to you about my experience with your office. I just left with sunglasses that as Mr. Pallas has stated, "were made specifically for me due to the fact of them being ground".
When I initially came to your office, in December of last year, I had a Hoya voucher for free lenses. I have worked in eye care for 8yrs. I explained to Mr. Pallas, that I wanted to use it before it expired. He proceeded to ask me how I came about the voucher. Why that mattered, not sure, but I explained that I aquired it from my former employer. We sat at length talking about what I wanted, how much I liked Hoya, (since I worked with the product for the last 2 yrs). I had him order the Marc 40 frame to go along with voucher. It took awhile for the glasses to be ready, which was no big deal, but he did keep me updated after I called inquiring about status. As a professional in the same line of work, I expected better service.
As I sit, not a block from your office, writing this, I am bothered by the way Mr Pallas handled me today. First, I chose your office to fulfill my prescription order because I was told you have an account with Hoya to use their lab. I traveled from Durham to patronize your business. Your staff called me last week to let me know my sunglasses were finally ready. I had previously stopped in, about a week prior, to pick them up. I was told at that time they were not ready. I was also told that Mr. Pallas was trying to find a cheaper alternative to what I had adamantly requested (Hoya lenses). By him trying to go through Essilor to find an equivalent to Hoya, at a cheaper cost, caused a delay in me getting my sunnies in a timely manner. Especially, since I had already told him that I have no problem paying for what I want. He told me that it would cost $200 to have these lenses made. I agreed to that and paid 1/2 down. I asked your staff to ask Mr. Pallas if he would be willing to offer some compensation for the delay since it was due to him trying to do something different than what was talked about and the fact he didn't communicate with me that he was trying to find a cheaper way to get my lenses made. He admitted today that he was trying to find the cheapest way for him to do the job. My question to that is, would he have passed those savings on to me or would he had kept it as it was?
I want to apologize for questioning his integrity when I questioned the validity of the lenses. I wanted proof that he ordered what I asked for since it was communicated that he was trying to find lenses through Essilor. I did not appreciate Mr. Pallas coy manner in stating that he was glad that I knew the process of ordering through Hoya. He also made it clear that since I was not physically seen by you, I am not a patient. So, that makes my experience all the more troubling. He did offer a measly $10 off of the remaining balance. Overall, I am very disappointed in your practice. Mr. Pallas tried to degrade the situation by pointing out that I first came to you with a voucher before paying for the next set of lenses. I spent money in your practice when I didn't have to. I chose you because of the Hoya brand. Now, I have to seek another!
I did not want to post publicly but since I never received a response from the numerous e-mails I sent, this was my last resort.
