How is it cheaper with no insurance at walmart vision, which i wouldve gotten in sooner and a better experience overall? How did i wake up 2 days later with an additional $50 bill? I didnt like how they started putting drops in my eyes without consent either. I told the tech i was dealing with hypersensitized nerves, floaters in my vision and this made it 10x worse. All i wanted was a vision test and they start doing all these tests to run up the bill on my insurance. Scam business just like the rest of them.

I was previously a patient of this optometrist in 2017. My first visit with them was uneventful and…read morewent ok, aside from the old lady receptionist who had an attitude. It was easy enough to ignore her the first time. My second experience with them is a completely different story. I was treated like garbage and I was hung up on twice. I returned in 2018 to renew my prescription and glasses. Upon making an appointment, this optometrist claimed authorization over my insurance before I even had a visit with them. They are not allowed to claim authorization over your insurance until you actually visit them, have an eye exam, and place an order for glasses. Do you see where this is going? Here's what happened... Work obligations forced me to reschedule my appointment. I told them I'd have to call back to reschedule a new appointment when I get my upcoming work schedule. The receptionist (same lady as last year with an attitude) dropped the ball and never canceled the appointment. ....In the meantime I found a different optometrist whose hours and location were better able to accommodate me. As a consumer I have a right to choose whichever business is better able to accommodate me. So while I was visiting the new optometrist is when I learned the hard way that Opti-Rx took a short cut and claimed authorization over my insurance without ever rendering me any services or even seeing me. How embarrassing it was to have my new optometrist tell me they couldn't move forward with my exam and my glasses because the previous optometrist I visited had my insurance on hold even though I hadn't even seen them. So I call Opti-Rx to have them release my insurance. These jackwipes actually gave me an attitude because I chose a different optometrist. When I asked them to release authorization over my insurance the receptionist said, "I'll see what I can do" I said, "Excuse me? You WILL release my authorization, right? I'm standing here at the new optometrist waiting for it to be released." She said, "Whenever I can get into the system." and she hung up on me. I called back and spoke with Dr. Berger himself. He proceeded to argue with me that because I made an appointment with them so they were justified in holding authorization over my insurance. I said, "We never settled on an appointment. Your receptionist dropped the ball and failed to update the computer when I called to reschedule. You shouldn't be meddling with my insurance." He washed his hands and said, "I'm gonna hand you back to the receptionist to deal with this." He hands me back to the receptionist and she says, "I already dealt with the authorization. It's done." I was in the middle of saying "Alright, thank you" and she hung up on me again. Moral of the story: This company uses shady practices. They have a tendency for taking shortcuts, and their customer interaction with me was incredibly rude. I can not, and will not recommend this optometrist to others.

Picking up the glasses I was shocked at how poor the service was. Staff person handed me a card to read with new glasses on. That's it. No offer to adjust them, no mirror to look at them, (eye roll when asked for one), didn't even offer to clean the lenses. All firsts for me and I'm almost 60 years old, wearing glasses all my life.
