The frame broke, just a fluke and past warranty. I had no other choice but to pay out of pocket; after further review (Tiffany) she found the broken piece was actually a manufacture issue. Within 2 weeks I had a new pair of frames and lenses. They could have easily charged me full price, considering my vision insurance paid only months prior. Dr. Essinger is hands down the best optometrist I have ever seen. The staff at Vestavia Eye Care was friendly and helpful from the moment I reached the front counter. The initial tests and evaluations were thorough, especially when I told them some recurring issues I was having. (Note: make sure you have at least an hour for your exam if you have an issue.) When I told Dr. Essinger the issues I had been having for two years that were unsolved mysteries for every doctor I saw, he was the first to care. He ran texts on me I had never seen and he came up with two theories for me to test. In fact, he was so concerned that he told me to text him as soon as I had progress. We have contacted their billing dept (India) given a runaround about waiting for VSP to pay. She contacted VSP and they had already paid ECA. They now say that there were other charges and she is only owed back $70 of $140 when she clearly paid the bill in full. We have both been by to speak with them and the office manager is always "in a meeting". They continue to say she needs to contact the billing dept but they are pretty useless. Considering small claims court and reporting insurance fraud.

That day my eyes were itchy and I did not try on my contacts. I was given the trail pair and then went to checkout. When I saw that charge and asked about it I was told that if I did not pay it, I would have to give my trial pair of contacts back. (They are the same brand I have worn in the past, just newer prescription.). The $85 is more than 1 box of 6 month for the contacts. I then received a bill for $49 stating the insurance did not pay it. This was for the refractory service which makes it to where the doctor can give me my prescription. To have this not apart of the price for the eye exam and something extra is a little sketchy to me. I paid it to be done with them. But BEWARE... you never know what they will bill you for! Before going to the appointment I tried to find out how much the whole thing would cost, I was never able to get a clear answer. I am sorry Dr. Jackson has to work with such an awful corporation.
