I bought a Groupon for henna eyebrows at Eyebrows and More on December 30, 2024. Microblading Service | Eyebrows and more | Phoenix. I made an appointment for Monday, January 20 at 2pm. When asked, I told Maria, the person who would be doing my eyebrows that I had never had henna eyebrows done before but was looking forward to it. She was very professional and took her time mapping out a very nicely shaped brow for my face. That night, I started feeling my forehead area starting to itch and by the next day I had a rash where my eyebrows were. I texted pictures to Maria and she suggested I cleanse the area with Cetaphil and apply aquaphor. By Wednesday I had blisters and was in a lot of pain. She suggested that the micro-needling I had the week before I saw her could be the reason for the serious rash, although I've never had a bad reaction to micro-needling. I went to urgent care on Thursday morning. The doctor said he had seen these henna brow rashes before and I should have had a skin test done before the henna was applied to my face. I asked him if the micro-needling could have been part of the reason and he said no...it was a severe allergic reaction to the henna brow treatment. He prescribed a course of prednisone, which helped a lot, although I still have some of the rash and swelling over 2 weeks later. The henna brows had disappeared within the first 4 days after taking measures to help reduce the itching and swelling. I asked Maria to cover the $25 urgent care bill and the $15 for medications. I also asked for a refund for the procedure. She said she would pay for the doctor and my meds but would not refund the Groupon amount. She would only cover the other costs if I signed a lengthy NDA (non-disclosure agreement) that stated I would not come back with any other claims in the future, due to the henna brow. I refused to sign the document as it was written. She was supposed to re-write it within 48 hours but I never heard back from her. I have decided that the $40 worth of medical costs she was going to reimburse me is not worth signing away my rights to write a review or for possible future issues that may arise due to the procedure. Maria was very apologetic and said she would change her policies to suggest a skin test for people who had never used eyebrow henna. She had never personally seen this reaction in any of her previous clients. She did seem very sincerely sorry this happened. Henna brow allergy does occur in some people and skin tests are recommended for people to make sure it's safe before applying it to the skin. I brought groupon for my 1st appointment. I has my 1st round about June 20th 2024. As I arrive Maria told me right away the groupon was only for the 1st appointment. Maria then examined my lips and told me I had "grey" areas which would need color treatment. Then I would need 1-2 more sessions on top depend on how my lips adapt to the color. Also, a lot of the colors don't expect to stay... about 50% would go away as the lips heal. During my 1st appointment, since my lips area was large she had to spend 2.5hrs instead of 2hrs. I was charged a bit extra due to the extra chemical and time she spent on me. On the 2nd day I had blisters. I looked up and blisters are very common with lip blush, so i was not so worried so much but still texted Maria right away. She told me to get Valtrex or just use carmex/ l-lysine for fast healing. My lips then healed in 7 days. I could see that they don't have the "grey" area anymore. My lips look normal/was told ppl would not even know I had lip tatooed. The 1st appointment was to neutralize the lip color and treat "grey" areas... so I think it was sucessful. Sombody posted a review about sanitary as I checked the reviews right before my 2nd appointment. I trusted Maria with her skills from the 1st appointment so I still showed up for the 2nd. She put down the sheet liner, wore new gloves and masks, and took out new needles. SHe changed gloves a few times during the procedure. I just got my 2nd lip session done. I don't know the results until a week from now. However, I do recommend Maria for her professionalism, customer service and the skills I could feel from the sessions I had with her. I had eyebrows done several times and eye liner done and I have been with several different permanent makeup artists (I think 4). If I could give this place negative stars I would. I went here based off of the all the positive reviews, but I did not have a positive experience, at all. 1. Cleanliness - she didn't change gloves from the customer before me, nor wipe the area, AND she had a frog and couple other animals giving in her studio. It smelled funky but this cleanliness probably explains why I got an infection after my first treatment (I did not go back for my 6-week follow up). She even mentioned that she lives out of her studio due to some economic/housing challenges, and uses her pen to draw toenails. I have no judgement towards how anyone lives their life, I just ask that more rigorous is applied to cleanliness. 2. The brows- I was getting a hybrid brow and asked to expand on what I have naturally plus a micro blading I had done at a wonderful med spa over a year ago. She kept going over the same spots, making them very very raw, at least 10x times. She kept saying that she shouldn't be going over the spots that much but that "I could handle it"- I couldn't "handle it". She also said I took too good care of my face bc her color wasn't staying and went even harder each time. She was doing whisps via micro blading at the front of my brows and more tattoo-pen towards the back- I have severely thick "whisps" (like 3) on the front part of my left brow that look absolutely terrible. Not to mention the color she put on me healed completely diff than the sheets we used to select it. This went on for 4 hours, I left feeling beat up and devastated. 2. A couple days after seeing her I got an infection that I took antibiotics for. May have been due to how hard she went, may have been the cleanliness or a combo, idk. I was just sick. 3. None of the stuff she did actually lasted except the chunky micro blading on one eyebrow. 4. When I reached out to her and told her of my experience and how terrible I felt about this whole thing, and asked for a partial refund (bc she was nice to talk to and she did spend 4 hours on me) she just cancelled my follow up appointment and blew me off, she texted she'd give a partial refund and just kept asking for my medical records and then ghosted me. I told her that I didn't want to impact her business, especially since she shared her financial struggles during my session (including homelessness and the multi-use of her eyebrow studio), and she was a nice person I just had a terrible experience with her. She didn't care nor did she even acknowledge my issues. I don't really write negative reviews like this but she took advantage of me and I wouldn't feel right if this happens to other folks bc I stayed quiet. First off @Bindi D I am fuming.....I am NOT sure you wrote down the correct place that you went for your eyebrows......and here's why... 1) My husband is a dentist...I was instructed what to look for and ask before I had this done.......saying this establishment isn't clean is an OUTRIGHT lie! You would have thought she had a farm in her office the way you are speaking....YOUR infection, is not from her...it is your responsibility to do the right aftercare. I have been going to Maria for years, I am in shock about this review....the ONLY you got right is that she's sweet and friendly, but I would add an excellent communicator, explained everything in depth, does her work with proficiency and accuracy like NONE of the others I have been to. She does it UNTIL its perfect....she measures and gets you involved with the color you want and talking you through the procedure while she's doing it! Her establishment is so clean you could eat off her floor...I am angry here, although I dont know her except for the many times I have had work dont...this angers me to no end...as people reading this may believe what you have said and hurt this excellent small business that always gives it her all! 2). Went for microblading and ended up with a terrible infection and was seen by two doctors. Both said it was caused by unsanitary devices and blades, and also could be the environment. The studio she rents out is a suite among many others with door always open which she mentioned dogs come in and out. I'm not sure if she really sanitizes the table and area you lay down on. When I contacted her about the bad infection, she took no responsibility and wanted me to sign a form that said I wouldn't post a bad review on many websites and also would not return money I paid her that weren't for services and by accident ($100). Money hungry woman and knows she has had problems with previous people to have this form ready. Why keep money paid that wasn't for services and money spent for a service causing an infection and not even care? I wouldn't recommend going here ever. Beware!! read more

Paid full amount and she asked me to cancel the groupon and gave her the full money. I did! I got two sessions with her, the first session did nothing and to be fair, she did mention, I might need a second session. For the second session, I was 5-7 mins late and she made me sit for 11 more minutes and then started the session. She started doing my second session but seemed distracted and told me that she had an appointment with her therapist and so she's running out of time and I have to come back for another session. And technically she needed 30-40 more minutes she even if I had come on time like 7mins early, she would still run out of time. So she hadn't booked enough time for my session in the first place. She asked me to come back for another session and told me tt won't take long and I have to pay 45 usd. This is technically an extra 45 dollars because I had already paid full for the second session. The first schedule for the third session I had to reschedule because of my surgery pain and I messaged her ASKING if she can reschedule me. she said yes. she didn't mention she would charge me $45 cancellation fee. If she had mentioned that she's going to charge me a cancellation fee, I would have showed up on that day or I would have made other plans. she didn't inform me about what she wanted to do and she just had in her head that she will charge me 7:45 constellation fee. So when I came to her office for the supposedly last session the first thing she said is I actually don't need anything it looks fine and I said that's not the color I want and she said then maybe I should choose a different color darker color cuz maybe that's not what why I am getting the color...! so first you wanted to Gaslight me to believe that the right color that I have on my lips and that's how it's supposed to be and then I pulled up the picture now she suggested I do a different color...so a big FAIL...all that money and time for nothing! But, I was still trying to keep my calm because I had come all the way and paid the transportation and I thought maybe one last session would actually get me the color I want. The first thing I asked her was I am going to pay 45 usd RIGHT? She said no 90 dollars. I will have to charge you a no show fee and she said, i cancelled once and showed up late. By canceling she was referring to the time I messaged her asking if she can reschedule me and by being late she was referring to the seven nights I was late while she kept me waiting 11 more minutes because she had another client. and mind you, policy says that she has a 15 minutes grace period! Not a good experience! I paid the money while cancelling from groupon and refunding her; she had her therapy session so had me come another session and wanted to charge me more...Mind you if she didn't need time for her session, I didn't need to come for a third time at all. read more

I had my my eyebrows done with a combo microblading/ombre 2 weeks ago. I was really nervous about getting them done since I've never had this procedure done before. I arrived early and sat in the waiting area. The lady from the studio next to hers said she never fails to arrive right on time. So to the lady who said she lives out of her studio, that was a flat-out lie! Maria's studio was extremely clean... animals??? Are you kidding??? There were no animals in there. I followed all of Maria's pre and post instructions. My eyebrows were numbed prior to the procedure. She timed the numbing cream for 15 min. She carefully measured the placement of my eyebrows and had me approve them prior to her starting. The procedure just felt like little scratches. Only a couple of lines were slightly painful. I also had a lip blush procedure done right after my brows were done. The lips were a bit on the painful side. Total time for eyebrows and lips was 3 1/2 hours. Maria gave me an after care and instruction kit. I have been careful to follow the instructions. Two weeks later, my eyebrows look amazing! My lips have faded, but I do have light skin, and I was told this might happen. She said that with the touch-up in 6 weeks, the color will hold better.
