Ver few information was provided in prescription. I asked my measurement of pupillary distance. They refused to provide.

Super friendly and informative. Fairly easy to schedule an appointment (although this may change with every good review they get).

Working with Christos was by far the best experience I have ever had. With other opticians I've found that they tend to just say "yes" to whatever you pick or to base their recommendations solely on style rather than paying attention also to fit and functionality. I inevitably left with glasses that never felt quite right or kept slipping down my face despite paying hundreds of dollars. Christos, on the other hand, is a true expert who knows how eyeglass frames should fit a face for maximum comfort and functionality while still working to find the best-looking frames for you out of his vast selection. After purchase, he is also meticulous about adjusting the frames for your face. Unlike other opticians, he actually has an opinion and can help you figure out how the frames ought to fit. And unlike most of the opticians I've purchased from in the past, he's genuinely skilled at adjusting frames and will really work with you and keep tweaking until the fit is *exactly* right. After my experience at Soma, I refuse to purchases eyeglasses from anywhere else. This is a true gem of a store and I plan to recommend it to anyone who will listen.

But the real star of Soma is the service. I am not exaggerating to say they go so far beyond the call of duty, it's almost unbelievable. Seriously, I am telling the truth. (And if you think I am prone to hyperbole or false niceness, just read some of my other reviews on Yelp.) In summary, my wife and I buy everything optical there and will continue to do so. They are great. Highly recommended without reservation!

I came in to get a pair of non gas station sunglasses that didn't disintegrate after two uses. Literally I've had glasses spew screws and fall off my face while driving and infinitely more tragically while watching the third and final Hobbit installment in theaters. (Rest in peace Kili, your sacrifice will not be forgotten!!) Anyway the point is I obviously don't like spending a lot of money on my eyewear. However the styles and service at this place had me willing and ready to change my ways and risk it all. The result?! Got some slick behind sunglasses and can't nobody tell me nothing. And these bad boys gone stay on my face, whether I'm scooting down 90 head bopping to Michelle Branch or getting misty eyed over Annie Lennox's Into the west as I salivate over a literary masterpiece. I suggest you get over here and get on my level.

I took them back to a different store (seaport) where they advised me that the lens were too large and knew exactly the issues I was having with the near vision. They suggested a smaller lens and frame which I swapped in to. Much happier now. I am writing this to alert those with progressives that you may want to ASK about the lens size as I wasn't given this advice by the associate and optitrician at the Newbury store and ended up with a frame that wasn't good for progressive lens wearers.

Friendly guy running this place. Unfortunately, I had 1 major issue and 1 smaller issue…read more I came in for a same-day lens replacement for a scratched lens. 1. He gave me the opposite prescription at first (I have a positive number for my spherical, and he gave me a negative number). I immediately knew it was wrong because it was incredibly disorienting, and he told me that my old lenses were prepared poorly and this is what they were supposed to be like and I just needed to keep using them and adjust to this. He confidently showed me the measurement on the machine behind the counter to prove it, but luckily I happened to notice that the number was wrong and pointed it out. To his credit, he apologized and fixed it, but it took an extra hour of sitting in his shop to wait for it. I can't get over how badly this would have messed up my eyes if I did as he said and just used them until my eyes adapted, which would have never happened. I have new glasses now with allegedly the same prescription, and they feel shockingly better when I compare them one after another. So I am concerned that at the end of the day, something was still wrong after all that. Perhaps it was the pupillary distance which he measured in a rush using a device which I may have been looking into wrong since I didn't have an explanation. 2. The whole process was expensive, and the lens quality was poor. I think they were the lowest quality lens material with no or poor antireflective coating. I accept that this is to be expected when buying on short notice, but there was no discussion of what i was buying or what options were available. This is mostly poor judgement on my part, and does not contribute much to my low score here besides the subpar price/quality ratio. He seems like a really nice guy, and perhaps service is much more accurate and faster on a day that isn't as busy as the day I went in. However, I wish that I had just put up with the scratch for another few weeks and waited for my glasses from the internet.
