Their business model is very poor. After waiting patiently to prepare for cataract surgery and feeling my vision rapidly deteriorating, I called to move the appointment closer. Once that was accomplished, the voice on the phone, with a snippy undertone, asked, "didn't they call you? We don't take (your insurance) anymore". I replied, "well that's that" and hung up. Aetna was very helpful in finding another provider, but Eye Specialists will always be a sore point with me. read more

I had a wonderful experience with cataract surgery. Everyone at the Sebring office made me feel cared for and comforted my extreme anxiety. Dr. Daniel Welch did the assessment of my eyes pre- and post-operation. He was spot on as my eyes do not appear to need glasses for reading or distance as of now. Dr. Damon Welch did my actual surgery and should get the major credit for an anxiety-free surgery and my amazingly quick recovery. It should be noted that I wore glasses for extreme near-sighted vision for almost 67 years (since the age of ten). I highly recommend the services of these doctors and their practice. read more

From my 1st appt where they had me wait 1 hr to tell me I didn't have insurance. I went back 1 hr later told them to call again. I had insurance. Then the eye assistant hitting the bridge of my noise wth that heavy machine n never apologized. They said 3 weeks for my glasses, after 3 1/2 weeks i had to call to get my glasses. 1st glasses were the wrong prescription. 6 months later they sent me a bill. I went to office n they said it was a mistake. Shortly after I broke my frames, office lady said 1 week, I called 2 weeks later they said it was on back order they would call me in 2 days. 3 weeks now, I called n other office lady told me they gave no order for my glasses. Oh and I left my broken one's with them. This has been a really bad experience with this office. I'll b going today to help them find my glasses read more

This office is GREAT! Wait time is the usual for a typical office visit so no surprise there. But the staff and the environment help so much. Carolyn is THE BEST! Not only does she describe everything she's doing, but she is so funny and sweet. Keeps you feeling at ease and makes the appointment going smooth. Renee was assisting her and what a sweetheart as well! Dr. Daniel Welch is very thorough and competent! Not only did he perform my mothers cataract surgery but my grandmothers also! His son Dr. Damon Welch performed my cataract surgery and my brothers. We are VERY happy with our results and progress! I see Dr. Hegland for my routine eye visits and highly recommend him for eye care. He is very knowledgeable and great bedside manner (great sense of humor!) There are complaints for all places, including this practice, but as a whole, this office staff, Dr.'s and facility has been here in Sebring for a long time- they must be doing something right!!!! read more

Everything was going well as the technician checked my vision, until she became unsure of something. She was unsure as to whether or not my eyes could be dilated. So she did the right thing and called in the Optometrist (William Corkins) for his opinion. He rushed in and quickly examined my eyes, muttering something to the technician. As he started to leave I asked "What's going on?" Let's face it, it's my eyes, my vision and my health so I am proactive. With a wave of his hand over his shoulder his reply was "STUFF. WE'LL TELL YOU LATER." Really?? I am 75 years old, not 5! That's the kind of thing you might tell your 5 year old child, not your adult patient. Needless to say, I immediately voiced my displeasure to the manager in charge and walked out the door, never to return. read more

Went to them last July for annual eye exams. Was told my eyes had not changed, however my glasses (I wear two different pair: one for distance vision and one for reading and working on the computer) were scratched and needed replacement. The cost for LENSES ONLY (I wanted to keep my current frames) was over $650.00, while I am used to paying less than $150.00 for both sets of lenses!!! I refused their offer and asked for copies of both prescriptions. When I finally got around to replacing the short distance lenses, which I specified specifically to have a short focus range of approximately 2' for use with the computer, the prescription was written wrong, and the new lenses were ground to a 12" focus. I contacted Eye Specialists, stating the problem and asked for the prescription to be modified. Dr. Hegland refused, saying it had been seven months since the prescription was written. Funny, prescriptions are supposed to be valid for a full year. When I asked why, he said it is because I have cataracts. WHAT??? What does that have to do with getting reading glasses??? Patrick, the office manager, finally agreed to replace the lenses for intermediate focal length. I tried them and find them unsuitable for use at the computer or for close-in work. I feel they are nothing more than "off-the-shelf" lenses that are available at Walmart or Walgreens for $10 or less that are cut to fit my frames. They charged me $68.00!!! With NO coatings of any kind! Bottom line, this business is greedy, Dr. Hegland and Patrick are condescending, surly and uncooperative. They refuse to correct their mistakes! AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS! read more

My husband had cataract surgery and was very pleased with the results. However, they treat you like cattle waiting in line to move from waiting room to waiting room. Surgery took about 10 minutes but the wait was over 3 hours. The post-surgery checkup was the same. Took two hours moving from waiting room to waiting room to only see the doctor for 5 minutes. I would give them 5 stars because they do a great job, but I would give them zero stars for their service. read more

Dr Mould is a very intelligent doctor. She was right on target with my poor vision. As I am getting older, it is harder and harder to get fit for contacts. I have worn glasses since the age of 8 and hard contacts since I was 14, now in my 60's and trying not to wear glasses 24/7. She recommended the laser cataract surgery and sent me to Dr. Daniel Welch. I had the multi focal laser cataract surgery. For the first time since I was 8 yrs old I don't need glasses. My vision has gone from 20/725 and 20/750 to 20/15. Words can not express my gratitude to these 2 doctors. It has been 2 months and I still go to take my contacts out at night. read more

I came in today with my fiance, each of us had an appointment, his for glasses, and mine for glasses and contacts. I'll start by saying that we waited no more than a few minutes to be seen, & our techs and the Dr was fine. Not out of this world or anything, but professional, and nice. My problem lies in the fact that I came in letting them know that I had planned to order both of our glasses and my contacts online, because they're much more affordable. My fiance has insurance, but I do not- we're not trying to pinch pennies here, it's literally a difference of hundreds of dollars. We recieved our prescriptions as asked, and headed home to order. A requirement for ordering online is the measure of Pupillary Distance, which was not on the script. So, I called and asked for it. The receptionist explained they only do that if you're ordering THEIR glasses. I explained we paid for our exams (mine was entirely out of pocket, & his a co-pay- $160 total) & we could come back to have it measured. Again, I was told it would be provided if we purchased glasses from them. I understand trying to push your product, it is a business: but we were up front. They knew why we were there. Our exams were paid for. Not only did they not mention "hey you're going to need a PD to order online" but when asked specifically to have it measured the answer was "not if you're not buying ours!" We're currently a 4 person household on a 1 income salary, and while we dont expect anything for free or discounted, it would have been nice to recieve the standard components necessary to order a pair of glasses, after coming in for eye exams because we needed new glasses. Now I'm sitting in front of a computer screen holding a credit card to my forehead while an online tool of questionable accuracy measures it for me. So, thanks for that. read more
