I have been to a handful of lash studios in NYC, and Eye Design is by far the best. Anastasia has been my technician for over a year, and she's great - gentle, detail oriented, personable and professional. Where Eye Design stands apart from other salons (including others with an equally high price tag) is that they take the time to do it right. Unlike other lash studios, Eye Design actually discourages you from coming back for frequent refills. Instead, they prefer that you come for full sets only (for me this is every 4-5 weeks, but some people go longer). Waiting longer between sets is healthier for your natural lashes because it allows them to go through a full cycle with only one set of extensions attached instead of removing and re-doing every couple of weeks. My natural lashes were in horrible shape after frequenting another salon where the extensions required constant refills. I recently took a break from extensions for financial reasons, and my lashes were in remarkably better condition than they have been previously. They also don't charge per "piece," which I've always thought was a scam. They have increasing levels of drama to choose from and use the appropriate number of extensions for your eyes. The only downside is that it's very hard to get an appointment, and the cancellation policy is extremely strict. I have to book my appointments with Anastasia a month in advance, and I start getting confirmation phone calls several days out (sometimes multiple calls in one day), which can be aggravating. One time I had the flu and had to plead with them to grant an exception after they asked if I was too sick to "lay on a table with my eyes closed" (I was). But that aside, they do value your loyalty and every once in a while will throw a discount your way. Overall, it's worth the price and time if lash extensions are your thing. So I just moved from Hawaii and needed to find a new lash lady. After getting my lashes destroyed by a previous salon (horrible isolation and thick messy glue) during my search in the city, I decided to do some actual research and find a salon with someone who has great knowledge of volume lashes. And so, thanks Yelp for helping me find Nadia!!! haha Nadia is definitely much more than your ordinary lash technician. She's an artist. My lashes came out sooooo full, long, and natural-looking!! She was able to remove my botched lashes and make them beautiful again within less than 2 hours. She's sweet, super gentle (I fell asleep during the procedure) and very meticulous, as other are saying. I was also blown away by the fact that my lashes came out to $150 for the first set!! My first time here Nadia removed my old lashes no charge and explained to me the last place I had been to cut my natural lashes they were barely visible. Helen has been my technician from day one and her work is never short of awesome! She is as thorough as she is patient - as witnessed when she did my uber picky mom's lashes. I got my lashes done for the first time last month and going in for my refill today after 4 weeks. I've always had long eyelashes but not full. The lash extensions are incredibly light and you don't even feel them there. It makes an incredible difference in pictures and confidence! They tailor it to your eyes/face shape and what look you're trying to go for. I had no idea what I wanted when I first went in and Helen did an incredible job helping me out based on my particular set of asian eyes. We went for a 11-12mm length and 3D C curl. She brushed them for a little extra natural curl. I would recommend for glass wearers to get a tad bit shorter length and haven't been able to wear glasses much because the length of my lashes curl up funky. I haven't taken the best care of the lashes but they have help up great and have saved me so much time in the morning and no longer needed eyeliner or mascara. The pictures are misleading, they don't show how your brows will actually look after healing, only right after the procedure or the touch up. My brows look nothing like fine and crisp hair strokes like advertised. More like think and blurry. I went for my first appointment in October, back in November for a touch up and was asked to go back a third time to fix them (with charge). The procedure is unpleasant and time consuming and there's a 30% chance that won't come out correctly (nobody explains you that part!) Really disappointed! read more

I have been going here for both lashes and brows for almost 5 years. The lash techs are amazing as is Mona who does my brows. On average I spend 300.00 every 2 weeks for lashes and you would think with that price tag they could /would hire a professional receptionist. They recently hired a young African American girl and to say she is super rude would be an understatement. Today I came in on time at 9am and my lash tech was running late. No problem at all. The receptionist did not greet me did not acknowledge me and I was the only person sitting in the waiting area. 10 minutes go by and not once did she say "apologies your tech is running late but she'll be here soon". She just proceeded to blast the music (which was obscene) and walk around with a complete attitude. Finally after my appt and I went to pay I stand at the counter waiting for her to give me a total and she's just sitting there. Didn't utter a word. No "your total is", "how was your appt "? ...nothing. She will solely take the quality of this business down very fast. If I spend that kind of money per month they need to hire professional staff! I can't recommend this place to my colleagues until they fix the front desk receptionist. read more

Wish I could give 0 star. This place used to be something few years ago, NOT ANYMORE!! Many places in NYC are providing the same service and even better for less! They are highly overpriced, my eyebrows are horrible, grey, blurry and uneven after 2 sessions of microblading. A total of $1,265 including tips went down the drain. Now, they are trying to sell me the "powder effect" service because they claim that I have "oily skin". I don't! my skin is normal, I don't think they know my skin better than my dermatologist?? Nadia, which is the owner of this place always block her clients concern in Instagram instead of addressing them! Very shady, don't trust the beautiful "before / after" pictures in her Instagram. Here is the update of my review. On March 23, 2017, I had another awful experience with one of the employees at Eye Design Studio. That day, I returned to the store. Everything went well until Eric came up to me. He said to me they recognized me. He pointed out I was the one who left a negative comment on Yelp months ago. Since I came back to the store, he wanted me to delete my previous comment. I said to him whatever I said was true, I had a bad experience with one of your technicians before, and that I couldn't change, but I could update my comment instead. Apparently, to him, my response was not good enough. He then said to me " I offer you a 20% discount as long you remove your previous comment." First of all, I do not like to be push around. Second, I don't condone bribery. And he still kept pushing me and asking me to remove my Yelp comment. Before I left, I said to him politely " I will think about it." Guess what? I received a very unpleasant email from Eric ON THE NEXT DAY. He said if I don't remove my previous comment, he will cancel all my future appointments and they will no longer welcome me. I was very disappointed. I wondered, after all, spending hundreds of dollars each time I come to EDS, what have I got? Every time I came for the dramatic eye lash extensions refill, I always tipped at least 20% no matter I was satisfied with the technician's work or not. Do I really care about spending so much money or do I care about something else? Their attitude was rude, and I was mistreated. Too bad, they hasn't improved the quality of their service even thought the new place looks so pretty. Never mind, I emailed Eric right back and told him please go ahead and cancel all my future appointments. I will go to somewhere else for lash extensions. October, 2016 I had a worst experience with Olga. My appointment was supposed to be at 1:25, but for some reason, it was postponed to 2:30. I asked for a full set, dramatic, and with a length of 15mm all the way. Olga, I have explained to you well enough how I want my lashes to look like, and you said you understand. When she tried to remove my old lash extensions, she force pulled EVERY SINGLE fake lash off from my real ones. It hurts so bad when she force pulls off my false lashes! Olga, perhaps you need to wait for longer period of time to let the remover soften the glue or you should add rub more remover onto my false lashes??? And then, I didn't know why a 2 1/2 hours work can be extended to 4 hours long. From time to time, I unexpectedly experienced sharp pain by her consistently pulling my lash and poking my eye lid with her sharp tool. So painful!!!! The worst thing is that when I returned to the studio to get my lashes refilled 2 weeks later, I found out she cheated on me without telling me she putted the 14mm length of lashes on me instead of 15mm all the way from one end of my eye to another. I don't want to say the technician's name but she told me what Olga put on my lashes were not only 15mm but 14mm for sure. What the hell, Olga?!?? Why are you qualified to be an advance technician? You don't even deserve any tips from me. :( When I spoke with the front desk about Olga, the girl was rude and said to me that I should speak with the boss directly. So here you go, Nadia, I hope you see my message. My other experiences with the studio were good. I think I will still come to the studio, but I will never choose Olga's service again! read more

I have been having my lashes extension at EDS for almost 3 years now, changed technicians a few times and settled with Olga. I am very experienced with eyelash extensions as I have been having lashes done for at least 10 years, nonstop. I know what is good and what is bad. Here are the reasons why I highly recommend Olga: 1, She is consistent with the quality of her work. I am a loyal person, once I choose someone, I prefer to stay with that person. I have had technicians who initially did good job then decreased quality due to the fact I was already a stable client. But Olga is different than those short sighted people, she does not take things for granted. Olga is a "long term" go to person. 2, Olga is detailed-oriented and does things efficiently. Although she always spend shorter time than what my appointment requires to take, she get lashes done beautifully. I think it is not about how much time a technician spends on you but her skill and ability to get things done. 3, Her professional work speaks for itself, therefore I appreciate the fact that she doesn't talk much because I either listen to my audio book or take a nice nap when I have lashes done. My only suggestion to EDS's owner Micheal is to treat long term client with rewards to value their loyalty and faith in EDS. For example, at least keep the price unchanged for clients who have been consistently coming to EDS on a monthly basis for already a few years. read more

This was my first time having my eyelashes done, and I've done my homework. I've also spoken to countless friends about it, what to expect, and I have to say this didn't live up to my expectations. Spending $500 on lashes with a top lash expert here, not including the 20% tip, I would have thought I would have had a better experience. My technician didn't speak any English really which made it very difficult to understand what was going on. Nadia came in briefly to relay the message to her about what to do, and what lash color would look best on me. But once she left, because of the language barrier, I had no one to tell me what I should be experiencing. And even though Nadia told her to do brown, I wanted black. And she just said it's what would look best, even though I like to wear black mascara on my bottom lashes. I was insanely uncomfortable laying down, and had severe neck pain. I wasn't offered a pillow, and when I tried saying something she used a fan to blow at the side of my eyes because she thought they were watering. I've heard some people could doze off during this, but my neck hurt way too much to be comfortable for the 2.5 hours I laid there- in silence because I also couldn't have a conversation. When it was all over, and I tried opening my eyes, they were still glued shut to my bottom lashes. She had to grab a metal tool to start prying it apart. And because I jumped it hit the side of my face. And because there was no explanation following- having what felt like a sharp metal object prying my eyes open was terrifying. My eyes were pretty red after they were done. I also wasn't given any information on upkeep, what I should do or shouldn't do. If it wasn't for the fact I have friends who get theirs done- I wouldn't know any of this information. Because the place where I spent $600 total couldn't give me this information, and to be honest after laying there for so long and realizing no one was going to tell me anything else, I wanted to leave. I also didn't love that while my eyes are taped shut and I'm in a room in total silence, there was another woman coming in to my room having a conversation in Russian with her which I found to be really intrusive and unsettling when I didn't expect anyone else in there and it made me feel weirdly exposed. The pros are that the salon is absolutely stunning, and the location is great. My lashes also did look nice and I did get a lot of compliments. But they started shedding quite a bit quickly because they are so heavy and my real lashes were coming out with it. And I know on average what normal lash shedding should look like. I had to go somewhere else to have them all removed so as not to ruin the integrity of my real lashes. As where my friends who have theirs done they are lighter and don't look like they are losing their lashes because they are too heavy. And on the consultation call before my appointment that is what I stressed and I was reassured that wouldn't happen. read more

I just got my eyebrows done by Nadia. I LOVE them. I am in complete awe with how amazing they look. I do have eyebrows but they are not full in some parts. After a consultation I was told the powder effect would best suit me. And boy were they correct. I surprisingly was able to get an appointment with Nadia and and she is so sweet and a miracle worker. She explained the process and how long it would take. She created an outline of what my desired brows and once I approved she applied the numbing cream. After a few minutes she began the process. It was painless to me but she asked multiple times during the procedure if I was comfortable. She is meticulous with her method and triple checked to ensure my brows were symmetric. They are bold and stand out. The look she was able to achieve I could never get with my pencil. I am still 3 day within the no wet stage but I most certain my brows will look better. Next step is to get lashes to get the entire look. Please note it is expensive but so worth it. I was shocked by the price BUT given the results I am at peace ...lol! You will not be disappointed. I first heard of microblading a couple of years ago while living in LA. At one point I even went as far to have a couple consultations with so-called experts there, but after seeing the results of clients before me, opted out. The harsh line isn't what I was going for, and I am not without hair on my brows. Although it is sparse from over-plucking an A-Line that I could never actually achieve, or simply with the natural aging process. I was born with a uni-brow and somehow managed to wind up with the shape I wanted but not as full as it was when I was a kid. I moved back to NYC a month ago, this is when I discovered Nadia at Eye Design. First pics popped up on my Instagram and I had to look. The images were beautiful and so was the woman selling her technique. Figured if she took such careful care of herself, I would be in good hands if she touched my brows! Last week was my first treatment and WOW!!!! She told me what I have now and have had for the past 7 days is dramatic compared to what my final results will be. Regardless I love them and am eager to see the final result. The space is beautiful and feels like you're walking into someone's home. The quality of her space is reflective in the skill and professionalism. During the treatment (a little over 3 hours) I fell asleep and felt very little discomfort. Towards the end there was some burning when she had to go over already treated areas but that only lasted about 30 minutes. I know that a little downtime is required during the 30-Days it takes to heal for optimal results... And they are super dark now. Even still I love the shape and can see how natural and soft they will be in a few more weeks. There is nobody else I would feel comfortable trusting my face with. I am a model and business owner, teaching yoga; nutrition ad fitness. Either I am sweating or constantly wiping my forehead or removing make-up from a shoot. Craving a no-fuss way to maintain a put together look under any physical circumstance. Microblading at Eye Desgin has made me feel more confident about how I look during classes and while working out without having to put on a full face. If you're in NYC or LA I would seriously consider going in for a consultation. Whether you have brows or not I believe her work and the way she trains her staff to have the same skill level- it is worth the investment. Very good job!! The extensions are very comfortable to wear and are of good quality. The place is clean and nice （love the reed diffuser there) One downside is the waiting time. My friend and I booked two together but they can only do it consecutively, so we spent like fours there basically. Other than that, I would definitely recommend this studio. First, let me begin by stating that this is an ultra luxurious, large & clean facility ....office is high-profile; sitting on 57th St. above CHANEL, Mui Mui, Prada etc. Being a native New Yorker, I know the massive price tag for this type of location & it means an organization must make big annual profits. The only way to make big profits in NYC is to make your customers happy by delivering great service & being one of the best in your trade. I am typically a neurotic-type-A-personality (so of course, I did my research before jumping into any services, regardless of the location:) I arrived for my first appointment April 12 at 9 AM. I brought several photos of myself in earlier years (before the plucking and waxing craze)... & I was very specific on what I wanted. My technician went through color choices with me and we decided on an ash color... & if I wanted to go darker, I would be able to do that during my touch-up session later. I experienced little discomfort during the process... Honestly, I thought it would hurt more. In regards to the healing process... they were right about everything... You really need to wait 2 weeks because after a few days it looks like your color is completely gone and/or spotty. The crusting and healing process is a pain in the *ss, not to mention waiting seven days to put water near that area.....and after a week, I had second thoughts about what I did. But, the second week, the color started coming through my skin again and I could see the blade stroke color coming through. I'm glad I started with a little bit lighter Inc., because I would've been devastated if I ended up not liking the shape etc. After three weeks I decided I just wanted it a little darker but loved everything else. I just went in yesterday for my touch up appointment with Olga, and I told her to make the ink darker, which is what she did. So, now I must adhere to the rules and wait it out another two weeks. This time, I am more prepared for what I am going to go through before I see the final results ... And I'm excited. My eyebrows were amazing the first time, so I can't imagine what they are going to look like being a bit darker. These technicians are amazingly professional and know exactly what they are doing. They are perfectionists. I would never go cheap when it comes to my face and aesthetics.... and I could not be happier with my decision to go with Eye Design Studio. I highly recommend this facility if you are considering taking the big step to microblading. On a side note: I would like to give a special mention to the receptionist, Amanda. Yesterday, it took me 3 1/2 hours to drive into the city due to accidents and traffic. I called the office absolutely hysterical, because I knew I would be very, very late for my appointment. Admittedly, I was terribly rude due to my frustrations, and she handled my "attitude" beautifully, without sounding defensive. It's a special quality when someone in a customer service role can handle a conflict with a customer and calm them. I had to quit Eye Design. They do a fine job, and their salon is very nice, but I've had too many issues trying to book appointments. I've gotten bumped for "VIPs" ("It's Fashion Week, so..." the manager told me the last time we spoke), I've had them call me to say there was a "mix-up" with my appointment, and last month, I tried to confirm an appointment and the woman at the front desk said I didn't have any appointments, so I re-booked it and -- surprise! -- I ended up with two appointments! It's a shame because they ARE good at eyelash extensions, but I was getting too frustrated with booking their services to keep giving them $225 a month. I developed trichotillomania (hair pulling from stress) in the third grade and my eyebrows have always been sparse if not completely barren. I knew how to pencil in eyebrows without a stencil since middle school. I have pulled my eyelashes and other places on my scalp but my eyebrows have always fallen victim to pulling so now at the age of 31 I decided to try something different: microblading. I have a ton of tattoos: full sleeve, my legs, feet, chest, and back- but the idea of microblading gave me pause. After my last episode resulted in the loss of half of my left eyebrow, I found eye design and made an appointment with Daniela. I wasn't thrilled about the location because of it's proximity to the tower of doom but that's not their fault. It's super super clean and reception is alarmingly nice (I'm 'lower classy' so I'm not used to such nice customer service- I know I stood out like a sore thumb). Like- this place is seriously clean, not in a way that it's *trying* to look clean, it's just ACTUALLY clean. Daniela took me to the room for our consultation. One of their policies which I didn't understand but I acquiesced to regardless, is that their consultations are only done as part of an actual appointment. I thought, "What sense would it make for me to pay in full if I blah blah" but then this happened: I sat on the bed and Daniela was looking at me, already studying my eyebrows. (I'm Mexican so I have one eyebrow that stays cocked/raised.) It never occurred to me that it would have an effect on my eyebrows. We hadn't even really spoken yet. This was maybe 2 sentences into our dialogue she said, "Do you always do this?" and she raised one eyebrow and pointed out that one was higher than the other and she would fix it. That's when I knew the consultation is what you're paying for. It's serious customization, it's not some stencil they slap to your face. Daniela was meticulous about symmetry even when I wasn't. So the policy definitely makes sense. I walked out a little in shock because of the color but- I have tattoos, I knew what I was getting in to. A week later, everyone was asking me where I get my eyebrows done because they are FIREEEEE. I mean- I am lookin gooooood, no makeup. All-natural. Yesterday I went for my touch-up and I saw Nadia this time just because of my schedule- I would have gone to see Daniela in a heartbeat. Same experience pretty much. They know their eyebrows. I only come here to get my lashes done from now on I was a little hesitant that I didn't get to pick Insis Who did my lashes last time, my only choice was Olga I read a bad review about her so I was like eah but I believe everybody should get a chance! First off, she is very beautiful, she wasn't much of a talker, and definitely wasn't as detailed as insis(when explaining the process, not her actual work!) , but her work definitely shined, I'm a introvert and I talk all day at work since I am a hostess, I love just being alone and relaxing while I'm getting anything beauty related, I really hate chatter boxes, while she did my eyelashes, I can tell she was so delicate and extremely detailed, I love that she just let me lay there and sleep, when I woke up , my lashes were so beautiful!! I immediately told Olga I'm choosing her from now on, she's amazing! I have uneven eyelids(tapered eyelids) so it's sometimes hard to do my lashes, but she did them perfect, I was debating whether or not if I want to write this review about her because I want to just keep her to my self haha but her work should be well known! read more

Eye Design Studio is such a great place for lashes, will need to try their other services as well. The staff is courteous and always professional. Studio itself is beautiful. Irene (Irina) is the absolute best! I've been a faithful client of hers for awhile now and can't imagine going to anyone else. My lashes are always on point. They seriously last 4-5 weeks before needing a refill. Worth the investment! Always getting compliments. She takes the time to always make sure they are absolute perfection!!! She listens to your concerns and makes recommendations for what may or may not work for you. I always walk out of there feeling gorgeous. Obsessed with the Kim's effect lash style. I did a "powder" effect eyebrows by Nadia abt 2 months ago and did a touch up a month later and they are perfect!!! Just the way I imagined, even better;) Nadia is a truly artist, she takes her time to make the best job and she has beautiful personality as well.
