Eye Design is amazing for powder brows. I had been considering microblading for a few years because my brows are super uneven and also basically nonexistent without makeup. I ran into a friend who works in the beauty industry and her brows were looking PERFECT, and she told me about Eye Design and powder brows. I had my first application in December 2024 and just went back for a touch up 14 months later. Powder brows give a soft look so I still occasionally wear brow pencil for a night out, but it's amazing not having to do anything to my brows for work, the beach, etc. Laura did a fantastic job with my brows and she is super friendly, which is a big plus when you're essentially getting a tattoo on your face. They give my face structure but they're not too thick or harsh. The first application is a little uncomfortable but not as intense as a regular tattoo. The touch ups were barely uncomfortable at all. From what I understand the healing process varies from person to person, but the first time I got mine done it was pretty unsightly for a couple of weeks after. It takes 4-6 weeks for them to be fully healed. You need to avoid getting your brows wet for the first 5-6 days, so you definitely don't want to go right before vacation or a big event. I couldn't be happier with my brows and highly, highly recommend Eye Design. read more

Update: re: Michael G's response. He never returned my money. I contacted the company twice and left a message, but he never returned my call. I am giving this company one star for: extremely bad customer service, unauthorized use of photos, and theft of funds: I had micro blading on my eyebrows and permanent makeup done with Nadia in February 2022. 1 paid her $1,600.00 dollars in cash and asked if I could put the rest on my credit card. She said no problem. The office charged the entire amount to my credit card and never gave me a refund for the cash payment. Over an eight month period, Shantel told me over phone and text I would receive a refund, but it never came. The office also posted an unobstructed closeup photo of my full face to Nadia's instagram, even though I had asked them not post images of me anywhere. I completed the last session of my microblading removal, I have tried both the laser and the saline technique for microblading removal and I personally prefer the laser, there is less down time and it is less painful. However it did take multiple sessions, I believe I did 3-4 laser and one saline removal to fully remove most if not all the strokes from the microblading work that I got done here at eye design. Eye design offers both procedure at their studio and Irina the technician is really nice, I would highly recommend her. Since this is my last session and finally review here at eye design I decided to rate it on my overall experience which includes both micrblading and the removal, I did not like the microblading work done by Danielle, the pigment was too dark and too deep, the shape was not even and the pigment faded red (two of my other friend had it done here and their pigment faded red too) maybe the pigment here just doesn't work for Asian skin? I was NOT warned of this in the begining and I had other yelpers who are caucasian tell me that their microblading work also faded red. So I would rate them a 1 star on the microblading and 4.5 star on the removal process... their laser machine definitely works as you can see from the pictures thst I previously posted ..one session of their laser turns the pigment from red to brown and then it gradually faded but it is very time consuming and took even longer due to the pandemic. I am glad it is finally over. I have mentioned previously that I would post the removal progress to help others who might are in the same situation as I was or are looking to remove microblading work. My brows are still healing 2 months after saline removal it is still red but the eyebrow hair are finally starting to grow back. I got my eyebrows microbladed in February 2020. In the beginning I was happy with the results - for the first few months. After that my eyebrows started fading and changing the color. I didn't like the look at all, because eyebrows were also looking kinda blurry. Right after procedure eyebrows did look absolutely perfect ( just as on their social media ) - but it didn't last. Change of color was the most frustrating part, because I'm brunette and my eyebrows started getting reddish and I had to draw with the dark eyebrow pencil on top of microblading - so whats the point? Salon is gorgeous and located next to Dior and Louis Vuitton on 5th Ave, so their rent is obviously high and prices for the services do reflect that. A highly recommended studio for both brows & lashes. Enter into heaven where service is friendly, efficient and detailed to the T. From the moment you step out of the elevator you'll immediately notice the smiling front desk attendants that are both attentive and well informed. They're quick to offer you Fiji water as you relax on leather couches. (& yes girl, that's a chandelier over your head.) I went for a consultation and then came back for my appointment. Consultation: My consultation was with both Nadia & Irene. Nadia showed me the catalog of the different eye lash extension options & carefully walked me through the different types. I was pleasantly surprised to see that their catalog displayed different eye shapes as it helped me to decide which type of extension I wanted to choose. Nadia explained they would test their glue by applying a few lashes to assure I wasn't allergic. I was then introduced to Irene who provided me with makeup remover to remove my mascara. (She was even so sweet to help me remove some that I clearly couldn't.) Irene was super informative and explained everything before she began. She started by applying an under eye patch to separate my lower lashes & then carefully applied a few lashes. The whole process took about 15 mins & those lashes lasted 2 weeks before naturally coming off. Eye Lash Extensions Appt: I made my appointment a week later with Nadia. HIGHLY recommend booking with Nadia as she is the sweetest, hardest working person you'll ever meet. Super detail oriented, Nadia made my appt feel like a breeze. She started by giving me a hair cap to pull back my hair so glue wouldn't get on it & after laying down, covered me in a blanket to keep warm. I chose the doll, dramatic effect which took about 3 hours to complete. Throughout the whole experience, Nadia kept me company by talking with me, although I did snooze after the first hour. I think it's extremely necessary to make a note that English is not Nadia's first language but she makes EVERY effort to make you feel comfortable and tries to communicate to her best ability. And yes, sometimes other girls will speak to her in Russian because it's easier for them to communicate but it isn't gossiping, it's called communication. All in all, I'm so impressed with Nadia's detail to attention making my lashes look full and longer. (Exactly what I wanted.) I had been going to this studio over several years till I kind of moved away a bit far..(across the bridge)...which made it hard for me to commit much time for commute not to mention all Covid inconveniences . I came here for eyebrow microblading 7 years ago in 2016. At the time, microblading was relatively new and I was assured that the color would fade completely after 1-3 years. It's been 7 years and it's still a very thick and dark red/orange. Its very hard to cover with makeup. Not only that, I am Asian and was given very arched brows that don't fit my face at all and make it look like my eye brows droop downwards and it ages me terribly. I was young and pretty inexperienced with brow makeup at the time and so went with the shape that was recommended by the technician because I figured she would know better than me what would fit my face. She also recommended a dark brown color that was the color of my dyed hair at the time. Now I have to spend even more money to get it removed and risk scarring and losing my eyebrow hair. DO NOT come here please. I thought it was low risk because they assured me the tattoo ink would not last longer than 3 years. 3 year review: What a journey! So I went to Eye Design in 2017 and had my browse powdered. I originally wanted them micro-bladed but the resident that was doing the work convinced me to powder them. Little did I know it was because they wanted her to "practice" powder brows. I wasn't happy with the shape at first but I was a little to shy to say anything and I got them done for free. The shape was feminine and even through I asked for ombré, the tech blocked them out. Three years later my brows were turning a red and orange hue. Through these past two year I've met with a few other techs who surprisingly enough either worked or almost got hired here. Turns out Nadia is fully aware of the reddish pigmentation caused by their own branded pigments. I had to wait three years to allow enough time for my brows to fade but I feel it is time I be honest with other people. Many of the reviews on here including my original review were made in exchange for free or discounted services. I even signed a contract which I took a picture of shared on my social media platform. I am sure they have some satisfied customers however, I think it's important for people to know the truth so that they can ask the right questions. I don't regret the experience. It taught me a lot and I was finally able to have my browse color corrected and micro bladed the way I originally wanted them. Please be careful out there. They are one of the first studios in NYC but their practices are a bit questionable. My experience with Eye Design has been nothing short of wonderful. First off, Eye Design is a sterile and clean salon. The luxurious environment really made it feel like I was treating myself. I loved that. I got the Powder Effect on my brows and every day I wake up happy with my results. My "powdered" eyebrows have given me the confidence to wear a bare face, knowing that my brows provide the structure and framing I've always wanted. I told Nadia that I range between wearing a "no-makeup makeup" face to a full glam, fake lashes and contour/highlight look. She knew exactly how much of a powdered effect I needed. What's even more important is that my skin is very sensitive. So when the procedure started my skin was red and irritated. Nadia paused and gave me topical cream to ease my discomfort. It made a huge difference. When it was time for my touch up, I saw Olga who really made me feel so comfortable throughout my entire procedure. She kept checking in to see how I was felt. She was fantastic and I left very happy with my touch up results. Overall, I am so pleased with my powder effect brows from Eye Design. The eyelashes/quality of work here is the best. Everyone I have seen does really do a great job and last a long time. The eyelashes are 5 stars. The customer service on the other hand... is not great and deserving probably only one star. I never want to come back to this place, but unfortunately I have not found somewhere better for eyelashes. For how much I am paying, I expect some modicum of polite customer service. The manager (Jen) never returns calls in a timely fashion and the receptionist(s), while seemingly polite, are not helpful. The booking windows have gotten more and more restrictive during my time coming here (it has been over 4 years at this point) and more expensive. You now have to confirm your appt 4 days (!!!) in advance or else be charged anyway. All of the "senior techs" move on and only the advanced level techs are left, who are almost twice as expensive with no real discernible difference in quality. It makes me bummed out to continue to patronize this place, although the but the work of the tech's is great, I truly think they do not care about their customers. :( read more

Unprofessional and poor customer service. Stay away. Front desk manager Shantel is rude and pushy, like she is hustling at the street market - not at the supposedly upscale salon off the 5th Avenue. I've visited Eye Design Studio a month ago for Ombré Eyebrows. Location itself is renovated and nice, no complaints here. Technician Aini K asked me many questions, drew my eyebrows, etc. - it was fine. Within a month after the procedure my eyebrows faded completely, it doesn't look like it was any procedure performed AT ALL. Procedure costs $490 + tip, touch up is $200. 2 days before my confirmed appointment for touch up ( scheduled a month ago, confirmed 3 days in advance) on Thu I got a call from Shantel stating that same technician ( Aini K) won't be available for my appointment, and her closest availability is going to be 2 weeks from now, which is impossible date for me. When I said no - she offers me another technician for Thu, but at completely different time of the day than my initial appointment were - still in a very pushy nasty manner. Since I'm put off by this behavior and also extremely unhappy with the results of my first procedure ( there is 0 results to be seen) I've decided to cancel the touch up and just go elsewhere. Obviously there is no refunds, which is understandable. I'll keep you posted if I'll get contacted by the management and if there gonna be any effort to resolve the situation. I've got over excited - just as many other people who follow them on Instagram @eye_design_ny - images of the work they post there are stunning and results are desirable . But, before you book - think twice and it might be a good idea to go elsewhere. Worst customer service and questionable quality of services. I finally need to just say this. All is beautiful until it's not. Did my eyebrow blading Feb. 2017 and after 5 month they turned orange and I got a free touch up and they turned orange again after 5 month the owner, Nadja, telling me her assistant is using her own product the second time around. I was told it might be because of my oily skin! I understand colors are fading but for this price $700 (back then... more now) you'd think they use something different and better. They turned orange or blue back in the 80/90s shouldn't happen now!! Fading color yes, changing color no! JUST A VERY UNHAPPY CLOWNLIKE LOOKING CUSTOMER! I'm embarrassed with the way I look every day and for sure don't feel beautiful at all. After contacting them, I'm being told to do laser to remove the orange ....like remove what they messed up. Yes, where ever I go they tell me the same thing, so now I have to spend money removing what they did to me! I did recently ask on their IG if they still use the same product as in 2017 and Nadia got back to me telling me to DM her directly but I didn't because I wanted people to know what happened to me. I did not DM her and told about my bad experience with them and she blocked me. SHE CAN'T TAKE ANY BAD FEEDBACK AT ALL!! She doesn't wanna hear it. Irina is such a sweetheart, and does a fantastic job on lashes. I think she is the best that I have found in NYC. The aesthetic of the studio is quite beautiful. The prices are very high, but the lashes last for a long time, and like I said the best I found in NYC. I recently tried another studio that does authentic Russian lashes for a bit cheaper price, but The Eye Design has done a far better job for me, and I will be returning. The one complaint I do have is with the front desk staff, I think they could work on being better polished and providing better customer care and service. I had an appointment October 19th with the senior specialist Arpei. I had a great experience with her. I wanted the natural look and I asked her for an advice about cat eyes and she recommended it. I told her I usually have very sensitive eyes and she used espacial products ( the other places where I had been do not have products for sensitive eyes and I always had a horrible experience). She took her time and was very gentle. I have been to many other places and even though this place is like a $20 dollars more expensive than the other places, It is really worth it. The other places are so crowded. Every one is in a small room separate by curtains. Here is a high class experience. You get to a huge lobby with beautiful sofas. Then, each specialist has their own beautiful room. They give you a blanket in case you are cold. When she finished, my eyes look gorgeous and I had already received a bunch of compliments. I want to give 10 stars if I could! This is place is absolutely amazing (in every aspect) if you are looking for THE PLACE for quality eyelash extensions. The ambiance, the service, and most importantly, the quality of their work. Yesterday was my third time returning after my initial visit. I discovered this place through yelp and mostly from reviewing the photos on here. If you search for all the lash extension salons on yelp, I can guarantee you, you will not find another establishment that shows more and better before and after photos. And the good news is these photos are accurate to reflect their work quality. My first two sessions were with Helen. She is very nice and skilled. She did a really nice job on my lashes (let me mention that I am Asian, therefore my eyelashes are very thin and short). They each lasted about 4 weeks (I still had probably 2/5 of extensions left) and as they were coming off with my real eyelashes shedding, none were stuck together and I didn't notice any damage to my real eyelashes. In conclusion, I was extremely happy with the results and the easy maintenance that I can not stop coming back. Haha. The third time I returned, Nadia was my technician since Helen was too busy to fit me in during the time that I can come. Nadia is the master technician and she is extremely skillful in her craft and very meticulous (a perfectionist). She asked me what style I wanted for my fill, and because I have an event coming up, I asked for the most dramatic she can do on my Asian face without it looking too ridiculous. So we went with 15 as the longest in length and "dramatic" for the style. AND I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!!!!. And I really am that excited about them!! Like i mentioned before, I am Asian and therefore my lashes are extremely short and thin. Even when I try to use mascara, it's quite pointless. The fact that she is able to do below to my eyes is absolutely a miracle. So, if you are looking for a place to get the best eyelash extensions in town, you MUST come here. You will not regret it. I would give NM Studio more than 5 stars if it was possible. Absolutely LOVE that place. That is the only place I go to get my eyelashes done since i found them through yelp. Even when i travel, i wait weeks, months, but i come to fix my eyelashes only at NM Studio. It's truly the best eyelash extension salon in the city. Nice atmosphere, talented estheticians. They use special formulated glue that doesn't irritate my eyes. I always had that problem at previous places i went, because i have very sensitive eyelid skin. I'm very happy that i found this salon. By far the best lashes in NYC, I have been to so many places from JJ lashes to Angel lashes to forever lash but none of them even come close. The girl who did my lashes was super pleasant and extremely gentle I didn't feel a thing. Her name is Nadia and she is a perfectionist , she didn't let me leave until my lashes were perfect. They come out extremely full and voluminous, i think she did 200 lashes per eye and charged $150 , I think its a steal!!! Def my new spot to go to.... read more

I was chosen as a student model for the powder/ombré effect technique. The class was held at their Englewood, NJ location. I was greeted by Valereya when I walked in. She was friendly and sweet and offered something to drink or eat while we waited. Everyone that walked through while we waited was friendly, including Nadia who couldn't have been nicer throughout the whole process. There were three of us who were student models. The students were supervised by techs and Nadia. We had a consultation about what we wanted. We discussed color, were measured and marked. All steps throughout the process were checked and approved by Nadia. The students were wonderful and attentive and obviously well taught. Everyone made sure we were happy with the results before we left. I was very nervous to have this performed by students, but couldn't be happier that I did it! I am looking forward to my brows healing and seeing the final result. It was the first time in 25 years that I didn't have to do my eyebrows before leaving my house. :) read more
