I was shocked. I was going to mention this to the doctor but when the doctor came in, they seemed in a rush and truly didn't even greet me kindly. I was a new patient so I expected atleast a small introduction. I mentioned to the assistant about concern with floaters and the doctor didn't go over that. It all seemed rushed and no true concern. They were changing my prescription and not giving an explanation? If they did explain it wasn't in detail. It all felt rushed, odd and off putting. signed, sadly disappointed

The building is new and the interior design is clean and friendly. All of the staff at Magic City eye pleasant, kind, and fun to talk to. My eye exam was thorough and I enjoyed Dr. Cilimberg's "bedside manner". She made some adjustments til my RX and sent me to Christie to be fitted for a new pair of glasses. Christie had already done her homework ABC's figured out exactly what my insurance would cover for frames and lenses. There's a great selection in store and thankfully they had more than enough in my price range to try on. I enjoyed the time Christie spent with me and that she was honest with the ones I tried on. She was very helpful in guiding me to find a pair I mostly liked; but she was confident that another color available online may be more fitting on me. When I returned to pick up my order, she revealed the pair we selected in the new color. It was pretty and perfect! Changing insurance can be such a headache, but finding this new practice was a win!! See y'all in a year. In the meantime, visit this team for your next eye exam and glasses selection. This was definitely not a highpoint in my day. I am really not that old and I was worried about my sight. I also knew something had to be done because the cloudiness issue was not allowing me to read a computer screen. I visited Dr. Swanner on a Monday. He and his staff were very thorough. They ran alot of tests and answered all of my questions. The diagnosis was cataracts in both eyes but my right eye was the worst. That day they scheduled me for surgery. Ten days later, I checking into Callahan Eye Hospital for surgery. I was nervous but everyone there was so friendly, patient and positive that it realky calmed my nerves. I was put to sleep for the procedure which was wonderful. Last thing I remember was being rolled into the operating room and then waking up in recovery. The procedure may have been 10 minutes maximum. One of the many impressive things about Dr. Swanner and his staff is right after the surgery I was taken to his office where my vision was checked and they were able to get a baseline. This was great because I was able to ask questions and I felt really confident about going home. The other really impressive thing about Dr. Swanner is that on the second day after my surgery, he took the time to personally call me and make sure everything was okay. The patience, professionalism, throughness, and customer service that he and his staff show is amazing to me. That is why they deserve 10 stars especially in this day and age!!!

Not having had an eye exam in well over 20+ years, I can't remember what all entailed. What initially struck me as odd was that they controls prior to entering the building were a little different. Before entering, I had to fill out a bunch of paper on my phone, followed by texting them that I was outside. Once I received the green light, my temperature was taken, and then was allowed to sit in the lobby. Being that this was my first time, I was taken back. With that said however, I do understand the rationale. In all though, the exam was quick and pleasant. The assistants were a little dry, however the doctor was very pleasant and professional. This is my second Lasik surgery in 40 years in Birmingham. My vision in 1990 was 2800 before…read moresurgery and I had extensive astigmatism. I hated glasses and since I hunt wilderness areas by myself for weeks at a time, losing my glasses would have been really bad. Dr, Sarah Hayes did my first surgery the first year Lasik was allowed in USA. My corrected vision went from 2800 to 2015! I had been blind all my life and now had hawk like vision. I was dumfounded!! Now 35 years later my vision had deteriorated to 2070. Dr, Hayes had retired and after some research I settled on Dr. Michaelson in Birmingham, Al. He is an intelligent and interesting person to talk to with excellent people skills. On the day of surgery, he was a different person. No joking around or laughing but all business. He is very thorough and over next few months I met with him numerous times for follow-up. So now after 3 months my vision is 2020 and getting better after each visit. I have 1 more visit in 6 months but I expect my vision to stay at 2020 or even improve some more. So if you are tired of wearing glasses that get broken, slide down your nose, always needing cleaning or just looking goofy in glasses, don't be afraid to get Lasik surgery. Its somewhat expensive but it will be the best investment you will ever make. I have gone now though 2 Lasik surgeries and have had no problems at all on either surgery. I consider Dr. Michaelson to be the best Lasik surgeon in Birmingham and possibly the entire South East.
