Several times, I've run into a meathead in a sports car who likes to sit at the parking lot exit onto Claiborne and rev his engine. This dude hangs out in his black Mustang, revving for 3-5 minutes and checking out which chicks look his way. This has happened at least three times now so I have to assume he's a regular. He's also a bit of color to an otherwise normal gas station. (I still want to punch him, though.) I highly recommend keeping your head down, pumping gas, and having a good laugh at the randos once you get back in your car. Let the ranters rant and the haters hate. I'll be laughing in my car, too. This store has a very convenient location on St. Charles Avenue, right before the intersection with Louisiana Ave. Gas prices are usually competitive with the area & a few cents under. Getting gas & occasionally picking up a few things is why I use this spot. Now, I'll be honest it is not the cleanest place. Most of the times I've stopped in since the pandemic started, the employees have been wearing masks except once. Then again, the point of stopping at a convenience store is to make a quick stop, so I got out fast. Still, I hope they reinforce the wearing of masks by employees. THE SETUP I am not a big fan of hotel temptations & their placement of expensive LITTLE bottles of alcohol & cans of soda in my hotel fridge. Nor the clever product place of little bags of chips and chex mix for $3 in drawers next to my FREAKIN BED! So the way I HAVE to combat this during my stay here is get inexpensive munchie and beverage options to COMBAT temptation in my own room. MUNCHIES GALORE They had all sorts of cool stuff, but I settle on a big bag of ruffles for $4. The BEST deals here, however, were on my Diet Pepsi - I got 3 2LTR bottles for only $4 as well! Will I be able to finish them over the 4 day-stay? MAYBE. But that wasn't the point. Compare that to the little cans of soda and bottles of tea in hotels and other hotel stores ranging upward to $2-$3 themselves. So I'm ready for when I'm thirsty, and for when I get a mid-night attack for something crunchy and salty. And it won't cost me an arm and a leg in room service charges.
