My friends and I stopped for gas and snacks for our road trip to San Padre Island, and even though it wasn't breakfast, I figured I'd do brunch with these popular breakfast tacos that the locals stop by for and recommend. They had a special for two tacos and a 64 oz drink, and I found just the one taco to be quite filling. They ran out of the filling I wanted, so I was offered half of one and half of another filling. I highly recommend this combination! Chicken and grilled onions and peppers filled my warmed flour tortilla wrap. These aren't the best tacos I've ever had, but they're a quick and "hand"y meal for your road trip. I'd pick these any day over Slim Jim's and beef jerky. And, they are only to be found at your local Stripes gas station.

SAMs was quickly becoming a place that I didn't want to frequent. It used to have long lines and…read morethe self checkout options were getting packed too, defeating the purpose of a speedy buy and run. However, one thing has redeemed my now frequent visits. This is the SAMs Scan and Go app, available in your iPhone/Android devices. The only reason why I have a SAMs card is because I am a teacher. I sometimes need to buy things in bulk as incentives for my students. However, the items I buy are rarely more than 10 items combined, and I know specifically what I want and where to find it. It used to take me longer to wait in line at a register to pay and to put the items I needed in the cart. Along comes the Scan and Go app. With it, after you register your SAMs card and your debit card, you can scan the items that you want as you put them in the cart with your phone. The app will tally up your items total on the fly. When you are ready to leave SAMs, just click "Checkout," and you pay within the app. No need to make a line at the registers anymore. I just pay at whatever point of the store I happen to be, walk straight to the exit, then show my digital receipt to have it scanned (as is customary for these type of stores) and I'm on my way to the vehicle. I have done this 3 times now, and I turned what would normally be a 25 minute trip into a 7 minute trip. If more stores do something like this, shopping anywhere would be a more pleasant experience everywhere. I commend Sam's for being a trailblazer in the Scan and Pay department. Tip my hat to you.
