And if you're not a regular customer and dont know how much the prices are they will try to overcharge you. But I know how much the prices are caise I shop here everyday. ITS MAINLY THE INCOHERENT INDIAN GUYS THAT WORK AT NIGHT THAT TRY TO OVERCHARGE YOU. Is sad enough they don't understand very much English you have to repeat the same thing about 20 times. You stand there at the window and point to the item that you want and the guy acts like he doesn't understand English. Every time a new Indian guy starts working here they don't understand a drop of English but they know how to overcharge you. They hire nothing but a tribal Indians here and they all barely understand English and you have to repeat the same thing 20 times every time you come there at night. I won't let these guys overcharge me because I'm a regular customer and I know how much stuff cost there. There's a new Indian guy that just started a week ago that tried to charge me $3 for a large cup of ice that I usually only pay a dollar for there. Also they even asked you for your PIN number to your debit card which they're not supposed to. I don't give out my debit card number. They're supposed to use a certain code to swipe your debit card but they want to play slick and ask you for your debit card number. These Indians are incoherent and they think they're slick and they laugh in your face. You have to watch them as they're adding up your food items they will sit there and argue with you and try to overcharge you. Especially the incoherent Indians that worked there overnight that act like they don't understand a drop of English, but they're good at overcharging you.

I lived on Madison Street between Solano Avenue and Buchanan Street, so this gas station was SUPER close to me. It was in a perfect location if I needed to fuel up going to or returning from work/school and chose to take Marin Avenue. It was also a perfect location if I was off for a longer driving adventure and needed to fill my car's tank before heading out. Gas prices were consistently solid and the gas station on the whole cleanly. Pumping stalls were easy to pull in and out of. Yeah... the car wash wasn't very good when I used it. Though I was also trying to get off some sap that dripped on my car when I parked it under a tree near campus while at work one day. This was (and is) no ordinary sap, it is still on my car years later and requires some special (for me) supplies to get it off. So for the time being I have given up the fight and accepted the clear and horrible smelling tree sap as a permanent decoration on the exterior of my car. The car wash here did a decent job of getting grime off my car. Didn't hit every nook and cranny, but a good start leaving those places for me to clean later by hand at home.

Because of this upbringing, I'm pretty good at recognizing businesses that are now residing in old gas stations, or current filling stations that have been rebranded. So as Ian G. rightly points out, identifying SP Food Mart Gas as a former Shell station is a no brainer. Things aren't as cheap here as they used to be as the open market price differential seems to have tightened down in this part of the East Bay. And at least for now, gone are the days when it required around a fair amount of driving skill to pull up to the pump, and then figure out how to leave.

Club Mallard is easy to pass by - but for me I recognize it as a landmark of sorts. Right next door you can find a gas station with fair prices. They are not the cheapest in town but they aren't two dollars more per gallon like some random gas stations. A small discount is given if you pay cash. I always use credit and I get a small percentage cash back. I think its a toss up - do what makes you happy - and for me that is a convenient streamlined payment process. I've never had any issues with credit card theft. I usually do tap to pay at a Chevron and I think that is harder for Kriminals to tamper with. I think its always best to take a pump that is closest to the windows of the minimart too. I don't know much about the minimart - I never went in. I hear that is the only place gas stations really make profit. Sort of like selling drinks at restaurants.

I drive early in the morning, so I would occasionally stop and get a beverage for my ride. Hours are not consistent, sometimes they open at 5:00, 5:30, or 6:00 a.m. or close mid day with no sign. I guess whenever they feel like it. Ok - soooo don't take my money. I've pulled up and seen people just hanging out inside and do not want to open up, forcing me to drive somewhere else. Workers are always annoyed or on the phone, especially the ladies who work here. Sorry to bother you. I get frustrated with bad customer service, because we all have choices. I choose to get my gas and beverages elsewhere.
