The typical service station attendant either greets you with a grunt (if at all) or makes you feel like you've just inconvenienced him by forcing him to put his phone down (heaven forbid!) for a minute in order to open the fuel tank and punch the right buttons on the pump. Not here. There's a cat who works at this Sunoco. He's got long gray hair and Navy-style tattoos on his arms. I'm guessing from the other reviews that his name is Joe. This guy is the Bruce Springsteen/James Brown of gas station attendants. In an era of decreasing professionalization, he BRINGS IT - 100 percent of the time. I pulled in this morning and he greeted me with an ebullient, "Hey, brother! How ya doin'? What can I get for ya?" I said, "Can I get it filled regular, please?", and he responded with a, "No problem!" Then he took my card, went over to the pump, and launched into a very convincing cover of The Fortunes' "Here Comes That Rainy Day Feeling Again" - a song that I always turn off when I hear it on the radio but that somehow sounded fresh and groovy coming from his pipes. This is a man who truly enjoys his work and thrives on brightening up his customers' days. As soon as I was filled up, he closed the cap, printed out my receipt, brought it over to me, and with a big smile said, "You have yourself a great day now." This is how every professional - whether at the bank, the post office, the electrician, etc. - should treat his or her customers. If you're anywhere in the West Orange/Montclair/Livingston area and you need gas, do yourself a favor and drive the extra distance to fill up here.

My only complaint is the price of the gas. Filling up 11 gallons here cost me about $20 more than it would have back home in Goose Creek, South Carolina. While I understand gas prices can vary by location, the difference was definitely noticeable. Overall, the customer service was excellent, but be prepared for higher fuel prices if you're traveling through the area. 5/5 Service with a smile 5/5 Proximity to hotel 5/5 Cleanliness 3/5 Prices

I'm worried because I have been feeling a real shake in the passenger front. I say: "OK." Then he says, WHAT HAPPENED? I tell him that the people on Ridge Street in Newark, Park Avenue Auto Repair Shop changed spark plugs but only the front and then the brakes went loose and then they changed a brake line. So I want someone new to look at the car. "So why you don't go back?" "I want someone new." "So why you went there?" I am beginning to lose patience. "I'd like you to look at the car, it's shaking as if the tire is flat but it's not." "So wait," he says. "Now you are telling me something different and..." SO I WALK OUT. However, I think…read morethey use a bit too much high pressure sales on "extras"while they have your car (alignments, brakes, etc.). I appreciate noting that some service might be needed but I think customers would prefer a lower pressure approach. If a customer says at the outset not to perform the extra inspections because they have a plan with the dealer for service, in my opinion that should conclude the matter and no follow up phone call is appropriate to push hard for a brake job. But I got that call.... In the same vein I was pressured to give a Google review in front of the staff and before I could inspect my vehicle. Bizarre but I bet people do it. So in sum, nice guys, good work, but some fine tuning of the customer experience would make this place 5 stars.

Having recently bought a 2010 Chevy Impala from Zoom Auto in Parsippany I quickly discovered a…read morebunch of hidden issues. No surprise there, the most challenging however were the oil leaks which quickly surfaced. It was diagnosed incorrectly 3x by auto repair shops such as MAVIS, Pep Boys and Firestone. MAVIS said it was from an oil plug washer and then Pep Boys wanted to replace the upper and lower intake manifold gaskets for $3300. and then Firestone said it was a transmission leak and sent me to Denville Transmission where Rob strongly recommended "SACKS SHELL" as he stated it was definitely an engine leak and not a transmission issue. From the start, I will tell you Bryan's confidence and honesty was impressive. He was assuring me that the owner, Fred, was honest and a straight shooter. He explained oil leaks are commonly coming from more than one source and the solution was likely going to be a process. After an inspection, Fred, the owner, felt the major leak was from the oil pan gasket so his expert mechanic Paul replaced same which slowed the leak down a lot. However, Fred was very scientific in his approach and I felt a partnership developed to be thorough and that a follow up was needed so we agreed to add new dye back into the engine oil to follow up for possibly more sources of the oil leakage. Sure enough it wasn't done leaking, this time it was revealed that the main rear engine seal was also leaking. His other expert mechanic, Lupe successfully did that job. You guessed it, there was still one more leak, it turned out to be a transmission cooler fitting on the transmission side which Fred was gracious enough not to charge me for that minor repair. The bottom line is that Fred has a great crew with tons of experience and everyone of them I found to be honest, responsive, reliable and professional in every way. Fred runs a terrific business and his prices are fair and reasonable. I plan on going there again and again... it was a refreshing and great experience. Finally, I found some good solid mechanics and a business owner who is fair and doesn't charge a fortune !!! " Gooooo Sack's Shell " !!!

Not only was the diagnosis absolutely correct, but it was explained in a way that actually made sense without talking down to me. Derrick and his team have been my mechanics since I moved to West Orange in 2018, and at this point I trust them completely with my cars. They're straight shooters. If something can wait, they'll tell you. If something needs attention now, they'll show you why. No pressure, no mystery charges, no unnecessary parts swapping. From a technical standpoint, their diagnostics have been consistently spot-on. They don't just throw parts at a problem hoping something sticks; they take the time to trace the root cause, whether it's electrical, drivetrain, or something more subtle that other shops miss. The work is done right the first time, and I've never had to come back for the same issue. Pricing is fair, turnaround times are realistic, and communication is excellent. They treat you like a long-term customer, not a one-time invoice. Shops like this are rare, and if you're looking for a place you can stick with for years, this is it. I recommend them without hesitation.
