Essex Green Sunoco - Pump

Essex Green Sunoco

(26 reviews)

Pretty sure this is the first time I've ever reviewed a gas station, but my most recent experience…read morehere compels me. The typical service station attendant either greets you with a grunt (if at all) or makes you feel like you've just inconvenienced him by forcing him to put his phone down (heaven forbid!) for a minute in order to open the fuel tank and punch the right buttons on the pump. Not here. There's a cat who works at this Sunoco. He's got long gray hair and Navy-style tattoos on his arms. I'm guessing from the other reviews that his name is Joe. This guy is the Bruce Springsteen/James Brown of gas station attendants. In an era of decreasing professionalization, he BRINGS IT - 100 percent of the time. I pulled in this morning and he greeted me with an ebullient, "Hey, brother! How ya doin'? What can I get for ya?" I said, "Can I get it filled regular, please?", and he responded with a, "No problem!" Then he took my card, went over to the pump, and launched into a very convincing cover of The Fortunes' "Here Comes That Rainy Day Feeling Again" - a song that I always turn off when I hear it on the radio but that somehow sounded fresh and groovy coming from his pipes. This is a man who truly enjoys his work and thrives on brightening up his customers' days. As soon as I was filled up, he closed the cap, printed out my receipt, brought it over to me, and with a big smile said, "You have yourself a great day now." This is how every professional - whether at the bank, the post office, the electrician, etc. - should treat his or her customers. If you're anywhere in the West Orange/Montclair/Livingston area and you need gas, do yourself a favor and drive the extra distance to fill up here.

Essex Green Sunoco provided great service, and the staff was friendly, efficient, and helpful. The…read morestation was clean, easy to access, and the transaction was quick and hassle-free. My only complaint is the price of the gas. Filling up 11 gallons here cost me about $20 more than it would have back home in Goose Creek, South Carolina. While I understand gas prices can vary by location, the difference was definitely noticeable. Overall, the customer service was excellent, but be prepared for higher fuel prices if you're traveling through the area. 5/5 Service with a smile 5/5 Proximity to hotel 5/5 Cleanliness 3/5 Prices

I am a Wawa die hard, but this one was close to a 2 star for me. Major positives reasonably priced…read moregas and functional air pumps for your tires. It's a big store and it gets busy, which means it's well stocked and they go through inventory pretty quick (which means everything tends to be fresher). Couple negatives. They do close the bathroom at night (I don't know what time exactly, but I was in here one day well before midnight and the security guard was telling someone else that it was closed for the night), which means it's not the perfect pit stop. Being busy can mean long waits for prepared foods. They get a lot of mobile and app orders, so at peak times you will have a noticeable wait. Not everyone working the line is good about calling out order numbers, so sometimes your order will be sitting ready without being called. I wish all the different apps and ordering methods would communicate better with one another-I think the in-store orders should be prioritized and the apps should give more realistic wait times. Please support your employees so that we can all have a better time, Wawa management!

After filling up my tank and hitting up the bathroom I grabbed a Sausage Biscuit Sizzli Sandwich and a large freshly brewed Columbian Coffee for Breakfast which I found to be a very solid start to my day. It's also a fact that I can always count on Wawa to have all kinds of delicious convenient grab and go foods like Yogurts, Fresh Fruits, Salads, Snacks, and Baked Goods plus they can always make you anything you want as long as you're willing to wait for it. Early in the morning Service here is friendly and efficient both at the fuel pumps and inside the Store. Quick access to Route 280 in either direction so whenever in this part of Jerzey stopping in here is literally the easiest decision of my day. Wawa would you wanna FILL Up anywhere else? Come And Get Your Munch On!!
