I called 10 minutes before close and spoke with an employee who promised to get back with me in the morning. I was called by Chuck, the owner, within an hour. He did not have the part in-stock, but was very willing to order one at about 1/2 the price of Midas. I needed wipers for a used vehicle I recently purchased. Auto Zone had a ton of wipers and they were very confusing. One brand had 3 variations of a 14 inch blade! I don't know how or why. Advance had a nice simple layout, but like Auto Zone, they didn't have a book I could use for reference. I knew the sizes I needed, and the guy at the counter verified when he rang me up. He also offered to install them, which was a HUGE help as it was dark and I had no idea how the old ones came off or the new ones went on since they are some fancy schmancy euro style. He also showed me how easy it was to pop off the back wiper, which was a big help since the rubber had worn completely down. They were well staffed, masked, and friendly. Much appreciated!

It took about five minutes. Advance auto did a diagnostic test which showed the same diagnostic. They also did a vehicle check which I did ask for or authorize. They did't find anything else other then the original bank one sensor. They charge me $155.00 for a diagnostic that I had already received from another shop for free. They never mentioned the vehicle inspection or the charge for it until the vehicle was ready for pickup. Never again.

Matt talked down to me in several conversations about my car. He likes to give his credentials, and expound on his extensive experience, and he will be impatient, short, and didactic. He will dismiss your thoughts. It's hard to get a word in edgewise. One may say that this is less important if they give top notch service. I myself will tolerate poor treatment of customers if that is the case. It does make it more difficult though, to build trust, if you treat customers with impatience and condescension. I had a failing battery and wanted to know if the alternator and starter were failing as well. I had to push to get those answers, and actually I still don't know about the starter. Allen at O'Reilly auto parts on West 3rd street was much more friendly and just as knowledgeable, if not more so, than Matt. I could have gotten better service there with better treatment, for $60 less, and gotten a 4-year warranty instead of the 3-year warranty I got with Advanced Auto Care. As with other customers, they also did work that I didn't ask for. Maybe that's a good thing. They want to sell me four new tires. I don't trust them. Maybe they deserve my trust. You have to decide if I'm too paranoid, or if there is something lacking with this group, but I don't think I will be returning.
