My check engine light has been turning on and off and my battery even died a couple times, then miraculously started back up. The first time that happened I went to the AutoZone in Indianapolis on Washington St. The guy checked my check engine light and told me it was my coolant levels being low most likely. He said he was busy and couldn't leave the storefront because the other guy was busy doing something in the back. He did tell me to come back in a few hours and he'd help, but I didn't have time for that. I drove a couple miles east and stopped at the other AutoZone. I told the guys there what happened and they also ran the test and said about the same thing. I bought antifreeze/coolant and the guy there helped me pour it in. I thought I was good to go. WRONG. My check engine light came back on and my battery died and then a few minutes later turned back on. My girlfriend lives in Bloomington and so we thought we'd just go drop off my car and here and have them charge my battery because that's all I thought was needed. Wrong again. I told Scott, the manager, the whole story. He told Mark to run pretty much every test and check everything for me. He seemed upset by the fact that I had already been to two other AutoZones. It was nice to feel like he cared. Mark was amazing. He ran all the tests, helped me and even explained to me what was wrong and why. He also helped me fix everything. He wasn't trying to upset anything either, which felt nice to know I wasn't being cheated. Seriously, one the the best costumer service experiences I've ever had. Advanced not only had one more reasonably priced, but they came out and confirmed the fit first. This store was better staffed and cleaner than AZ by far. All of the stores now use online guides that are pretty much worthless.

It took about five minutes. Advance auto did a diagnostic test which showed the same diagnostic. They also did a vehicle check which I did ask for or authorize. They did't find anything else other then the original bank one sensor. They charge me $155.00 for a diagnostic that I had already received from another shop for free. They never mentioned the vehicle inspection or the charge for it until the vehicle was ready for pickup. Never again.

O'Reilley had the battery for $138 at the cheapest cost. That's expensive. Interstate had the same battery in three different styles, including refurbished, 18 and 36 month warranty. I don't mind refurbished batteries; they often are as good as new. The catch is that the refurbished battery fit my budget at $49 (with a core exchange, meaning your old battery). Easy choice. It was installed easily. Their counter customer service skills aren't magnificent, they're down to business. It was close to closing when I arrived, and I could tell they were waiting to get out of their store. Everything went perfectly; the battery was installed for free and was installed professionally and quickly. I will return.
