His repair of our back porch pergola turned in to a complete rebuild after he found rot and termite damage at nearly every connection point. We had to do some quick refiguring of the bid to accommodate the changes, but Trevor managed to make the whole thing come in just barely over the original reconstruction fix proposal. In particular I appreciated how he helped us stay in budget by focusing on the important pieces to be done first and where his skills and crew could help us the most. For example, they prepped our house for painting and gutters with new fascia boards, and did a complex fix of our nearly-ruined-by-rot-and-termites huge front porch picture windows. We then took over to save ourselves money doing the final painting effort where we can sling a brush ourselves. As a contractor, it was great to have his experienced eye looking across a number of efforts we discussed, which helped us level-set our expectations with a realistic assessment of what to do when, how, and why.

He was also able to take care of the required permit for our new driveway (140 feet) seamlessly. The crew was fantastic! There were no lost days and the job was completed on time and within budget. We will definitely use them again for our next project.

I "worked with" a SCK&B designer on a small bathroom remodel several years ago. I used those quotes…read morebecause the guy did nothing that could be called work. I went in there with my own design for my bathroom in hand, and asked for help putting the project together. Maybe refining or adding to my design. Maybe advice on appropriate materials and fixtures. This "designer" was so useless that I ended up obtaining most of the materials myself, not from SCKB. Furthermore, he simply copied my design -- with zero changes -- and called it his. When the project was finished, this guy saved photos of the room and, I later found out, used them in his portfolio of completed designs. A room that I designed. This would be little more than an annoyance and maybe a funny story if it were not for the fact that in the middle of this process he demanded I write him a check -- made out to him, not his employer -- for a "consultation fee." I didn't know it at the time, but this was nothing but a shakedown. Theft. There was no consultation fee for his "services" (at least this was true at that time). The income for SCKB's "designers" came at that time from from commission on selling materials and fixtures and, I assume, a percentage of the contractor's fee (at that time they referred clients to independent builders, but it appears from their website that they may employ their own builders now). After I found out I'd been had, I contacted the owners of SCK&B and told them the whole story, and was blown off without any explanation. And here is the kicker: the guy was still working at SCK&B as recently as two years ago. So they kept him on even knowing that he did this. This was my experience with SCK&B. Your mileage may vary. Needless to say, I don't recommend this business.

I first hired them to renovate two bathrooms last year and was so pleased with the results that I brought them back for a full kitchen remodel--which just wrapped up successfully. Their pricing is competitive, and the quality of work is very good. I was especially impressed with the electrical and tile work on both projects. The foreman and crews are skilled, professional, and efficient. Even though I had a designer, Keith and his team offered thoughtful suggestions that made the final result even more aligned with my vision. A couple things to keep in mind: as with any contractor, make sure to read your quotes carefully--I missed that trim work wasn't included in the original painting estimate. Also, the teams tend to start early, which was fine for me but might require a heads-up to your neighbors if noise is a concern. Overall, highly recommend them for home renovation projects!

We hired Willis Bailey on the recommendation of Guido roofing who was repairing our leaking garage…read moreroof/deck. Since our 28 year old redwood deck was on its last leg and had to be torn off for the roof repair, we decided to choose Apex PVC decking to match the PVC railing we already had. Two major problems came up before the job ever started and Willis solved them both. He is very good at picturing every detail of the job before he starts and we found our that PVC deck is not recommended for flat roof deck which usually require floating deck sleepers (unattached supports). It is further complicated by the roof under the deck being sloped 2 ways to a gutter, when the deck itself needs to be level and the water has to have a way to flow underneath. Willis came up with a block system that was glued to the roof instead of free floating and it solved the requirements of the new decking, the drainage etc. Every block had to be a different height and angle. It was far more time consuming than was planned in his contract, but he didn't add on for it. The other problem that arose was a leak in the garage from below our fireplace surround. We have known for years that it was leaking under our siding, but was now worse. This was the 3rd time the siding needed replacing, but the source had still not been found. It turned out that the metal chimney cover was too small and not covering the whole top. Until Willis was on the job, noone had noticed. He did a change order, had a new one made and tore open the whole chimney surround to get rid of all the rotted wood. We would also like to give a shout out to Taylor Cole, (one of Willis' employees) for his conscientious care in treating our home as if it was is own. We highly recommend Bailey Construction.
