From the start, this place screwed up. When I was first signing up for the unit, the men working asked if I'd like to buy a lock for the door of the unit. This would save me a trip to buy a lock so I went ahead and got one from them. When I arrived at my unit later with a van load of stuff to store, I found out that my unit has two doors. I only bought one lock. I don't understand why they wouldn't sell me two locks. They should have known that my unit has two doors. I ended up having to go to Walmart alone to get a lock and leave my friend behind at the storage unit to guard my belongings. Not only did they only sell me one lock, the floor of the unit was covered in broken glass upon arrival. There also was no light in my unit. There was a light fixture, but the light was never on. There was no switch or any other way to turn the light on myself. Every time I've called Life Storage over the past year and a half, they have never answered the phone once. Never. It always goes to voicemail. They never call me back. When I vacated the unit, I looked up online how the process worked. It said I would have to pay a prorated charge for however many days I stayed during the month that I leave. I ended up getting all of my stuff out on the 7th of March. I did all the paperwork the same day and was officially vacated on the 7th. I normally pay $98 per month. They charged me $39 for 7 days. I told him that's not what I came up with and he said it was due to a late fee because I was paying after the 5th. I'm vacating the unit dude. I had to get my prorate and figure out when I could leave. How am I supposed to avoid that late fee? It's impossible. Extra money in their pockets that most people probably never even question! Overall, it was a bad experience with Life Storage. I almost never write one star reviews, but this place deserves it. Oh and if Life Storage reads this... I lost my keys and I think you have them but y'all never answer the phone or call me back. I need my keys!

Be AWERE, this moving company is expensive and the service is bad…read more We moved in downtown Charleston, they left stuff behind, we had to hire another company to finish the move. They broke dishes and glasses and other items . When we call them to report damages they did not acknowledge any responsibility for their actions. We are international business owner and we move quite a lot this was one of the worst experience.
