Was extremely nice and the perfect customer rep. Would come again. Rates are also good! Thanks for all the help!

So, let me tell you what I've been dealing with the past few days. After my father passed 3 years…read moreago, I put his antiques, furniture, collectibles, artwork and photographs in a climate controlled storage unit with Life Storage on Presumpscot St. An underground sprinkler burst Tuesday night and flooded the whole first floor in 6-12 inches of water. I was notified in a very matter of fact email at 7pm that night. I was told not to come to the facility until an email goes out letting us know that it is ok to do so. That email never came. All the while my father's things, some of which are irreplaceable, are sitting in water. You would think in a situation like this, when emotions are high, that a national company like Life Storage would go above and beyond to be empathetic and helpful. Not the case. I asked if I would be charged for the month in light of all this. I was told that "yes I would be, that they had a business to run." The next day when I came to move my stuff out of there, I arrived to find large fans taking up the majority of the aisle to my storage. The same woman that told me I would still have to pay this month for my unit, told me that I would just have to "do the best I can." Even though the aisle was unnavigable. When I told her that, instead of saying, let me help you find someone to get those fans out of the way. She told me to "go find someone from Servpro." By insisting on charging me this month in spite of the time, money, damage and emotional distress the situation caused, Life Storage has lost my business for good and I would have been with them for years more if they had done the right thing. I had to rent a U-Haul, hire help and take time off of work. The least they could do was be kind and offer not to charge me this month. Instead my father's items have been moved to Read Street Self Storage in Portland. Jim who runs the office could not have been more helpful. I'm thankful to no longer be giving Life Storage my business and I will be telling everyone I know not to ever use them. I hope that $209 they insisted on charging me, was worth it.

I'm going to stick to the time that I used them as a moving company and leave everything else at…read morethe door - but it's worth looking into if you want to know where your money is going... I hired them in a pinch to do a move from Biddeford to South Portland a couple years ago. Quoted move was for 3 hours and 3 guys for whatever the price was - sounds good to me. They were also the only moving company with any openings - in hindsight, another sign. Everyone else was booked for months. Well - they show up and what a team it was. 3 guys that all acted like they were 13-year-olds. While they were loading the truck, they broke a few pieces of furniture, including a wardrobe and a stand up mirror due to their negligence and goofing around. They didn't apologize or offer a solution to anything, even though it was very, very clearly their fault. One kid was also nowhere to be found for 80% of the move. Early on, I realized that if I didn't help them, the 3 hour move would take closer to 10 at the pace they were going, and with a jacked up price along with it.... so I was helping them do their work to speed it up. It was honestly a joke, but what are you going to do when you need to get something like a move done? You make sure it gets done. While we were unloading, the one kid that was never working jumped out from under moving blankets in the back of the truck at me, thinking I was one of his coworkers. The team lead didn't get this kid to start working at any point during the job either. He (the kid) had strong "my dad is the coach" energy if that makes sense. I want to say we started in the morning, like 8 or 9 AM and ended after the sun went down. Team leader came up to me for payment and gave me the bill, which was only for the amount of the original 3 hour long quote. He said "It's the wardrobe, mirror and coffee table discount" and laughed about it, to my face. I didn't find it funny. I also didn't tip them and will never hire them again. --- Although a new addition and something that I wasn't expecting, but totally tracks with what I experienced... This pop up came up when I loaded their Yelp page: "This business may have tried to abuse the legal system in an effort to stifle free speech, for example through legal threats or contractual gag clauses. As a reminder, reviewers who share their experiences have a First Amendment right to express their opinions on Yelp. More information about the action that led to this Consumer Alert is available here." https://www.themainewire.com/2023/01/maine-moving-company-that-threatened-people-who-left-negative-online-reviews-owes-state-125000/ I'm not sure if it was the company or Kevin specifically that had to pay the state $125,000 for that one. My experience was enough, but considering the rest of it...? Do yourself a favor and go with another company that isn't soaked in drama.

It was a mistake hiring Liberty Bell Moving for our move from Maine to Virginia. The movers damaged…read morealmost all of our furniture in one way or another: 1. They got grease stains on an upholstered chair and on 3 upholstered kitchen stools. 2. We have a large lamp that we asked to be specially packed in a lamp box (which costs extra). It does not appear they actually packed the lamp in the lamp box. Whatever they did, they scratched up the base, and caused various small tears, scratches, and marks on the lamp shade. 3. They scraped up a lot of our wooden furniture. I observed one of the movers carrying our furniture from our origin without using moving blankets. I asked about this, and he told me they would be wrapping the items once they got down to the truck. It does not, however, appear that all items were fully wrapped. Several of our pieces of wood furniture show signs of scraping up against other items. Our coffee table, our dining room table and chairs, and our bed frame all have scrapes and scratches. One chair in particular is horribly scraped up and is an eyesore. 4. We have a wooden pedestal for a sculpture that they chipped the bottom of in various places. One of the movers on delivery even spun the pedestal on one of the corners of its base as he was setting it down, which shows the lack of care that they were using in moving these items. 5. When the movers arrived, they told me that they had discovered a hole in the moving truck, which meant some of the rain from the downpour the night before (when they were driving down to VA) had gotten into the truck. This resulted in several soaked boxes, and it resulted in our mattress getting soaked. We had to dry out the mattress for a week with the help of a dehumidifier (which we had to buy just for this purpose). They also stained the mattress - there is some dark staining (perhaps more grease stains) and some yellowing that is probably from the water damage. 6. They bent one of the bars on our metal drying rack.It looks like something heavy fell on it. Please see the attached photos for some examples of the damage. I cannot recommend this company less highly.

We hired Two Men and a Truck to move a very heavy sleeper sofa from our first-floor apartment to…read moreour third floor. We assumed a professional moving company would arrive with basic equipment (straps, harnesses, or moving aids) and the know-how to move large furniture. They did not. The three movers were kind and polite, and this review is not meant as a criticism of them personally. However, they were clearly unprepared for the job. No measurements were taken, no equipment was used, and they appeared unfamiliar with basic techniques like angling furniture through doorways. This was frustrating, especially since the couch had previously been delivered through the same doors without issue. When the crew struggled and stopped, they called their manager, Brandon. Based on what we were seeing, my husband honestly said it wasn't going to work with this crew. Despite the fact that nothing was moved, we were charged $190. After the movers left, my husband contacted Brandon to discuss the situation. Brandon was rude, dismissive, and unwilling to take responsibility. When my husband pointed out that no measurements had been taken, Brandon responded, "Well how are they going to know if it will fit until they try?" despite the fact that using a tape measure is a basic, professional step that was never attempted. Brandon refused any refund or partial credit. We are out nearly $200 because Two Men and a Truck sent an unprepared crew and then backed that up with poor customer service. If you are moving anything more complicated than boxes, think carefully before hiring this company. We strongly encourage the owners to consider additional customer service training for Brandon. His behavior showed no professionalism, accountability, or interest in finding a fair solution. If he is an owner, that is even more concerning.

I had been working to pack up my home that I was sellling to downsize and move into an apartment…read morefor over a year. Being elderly With several ongoing health conditions, this move was already causing me a great deal of stress. A rep from the company came and evaluated the scope of the job I was asking. He brought me out some flat screen protective boxes for my TV's. i had explained that I needed them to take a portion of things from the basement to a local storage unit. Another section of the basement was to be left alone as it was being given for donation . My garage was quiet full and then I had the inside off the housel. This gentlemen told me he was going to have to readjust my quote down because it was not as bad as he had expected. After 6 men and two moving trucks came on moving day and I tried to give them some direction, I was met with resistance and was told they would not take items to two locations. I had t`o` choose where to go. (I was never told this at any time in evaluating this co for the job). So I said okay9 I would work on getting storage items moved another day and they could just start loading up the garage A am a serious crafter and have a lot o money invested in craft supplies. I wanted this part of the garage packed together to go into a second bedroom for a craft room. The rest would go to the apartment First I was told I would have to leave my mounted TV because they were not allowed to remove this. (then why did the man who came to my home bring me two protected boxes that I was charged for). So while they started on the craft section of the garage (which I had asked them to keep this section divided as much as possible. While they started I went to the back bedroom and f was trying to finish up my master bedroom. After a period of time two of these men came to me and said they could not put another thing on the "truck" as it was full. my garage was still 2/3bfull and the inside of the house Had not been done. The second truck lay emoth. They told me that my apartment would not hold another item. That's when I discovered that while I was out back they took it amongst themselves to load both sides of the basement (the section that was going to storage and the good sized area that was being donated) on the truck at the same time as they had loaded the craft items in the garage. They refused to load anything further into the second truck. But I was going at the end of this day to live in my new apartment. So with much resistance and telling them that they would load my bed or someone was going to be "hurt" an dirt wasn't going to be me, they did load my bed, after they carelessly discarded items in my bedroom.. I was lived and asked why they had loaded the items from the basement when they had told me no. One guy said that they were trying to help me out. He had not helped me he had just created a hell of a mess for me. And one guy said "you can't expect us to go through all that stuff and separate it out". By the time I got to my apartment, I was a total wreck. I had to call on two neighbor friends to help me get items to live on, few changes of clothing, few dishes, bathroom items, which were mostly packed up. But they could not load any more on the trucks as they had decided what would fit into my apartment amidst themselves. I did write them a check for the amt they were requesting because I had 6 guys breathing down my neck and I was feeling intimidated But I was quiet upset with the entire experience. This was the move from hell. I have stopped payment on the check after stewing all weekend over the events of my move. I did call first thing Monday to file a formal complaint. I was told by their rep that he would speak to the crew and get back to me. It has been close to four weeks and I have heard nothing from them. Meanwhile I had to hire another crew to help me get out of the house urgently now, costing almost as much as what two men and a truck had charged me for the mess they had left me in. So now I have a lot of storage items And donation items in my apartment which I now have to get out to storage and go over to not the one, but two storage units Then there are a lot of things I needed for my apartment that now I have to get from storage to my apartment. I'm embarrassed and ashamed for your company that these men were allowed to come into my home and screw up this job so badly. You would think that out of the six guys, one would have had a brain.
