Worst storage facility I have EVER! Our storage unit was broken into Our rates go up like every month. And now my father passed away, I got behind on my payment, I know there process, so I made the payment in full with late fees on the last day I could before they CUT MY LOCK, to "PREPARE" for auction Then they put a lock on and charged me $35 for it. I came in to request that they take their lock back and credit my account and the ignorant person in the front (who knows we had our unit broken into and loss of $4k) had the audacity to tell me I made my payment on the 18th but I was also given my 3rd notice on the 18th to bring my own lock. WARNING TO ANY INTERESTED CUSTOMERS: DO NOT RENT A STORAGE UNIT FROM THIS FACILITY. After my horrendous experience with ExtraSpace, I will make sure to never rent a storage unit from this company or this specific facility ever again. Security is pretty much nonexistent here except for a couple cameras at the front of the building. There is only one employee manning the front desk TOPS, and most of the time they're in the back room or they're not paying much attention to what's going on. It's way too easy to hop the gate and get into the facility via the side door that's always unlocked. There are also no cameras in any of the hallways of the building. Back in June there was a massive break-in and multiple units were hit, including mine and my boyfriend's. We had several sentimental valuables taken, despite our unit being double-locked. We'd carefully organized and packed the entire space, only to return and find it ransacked/left in horrible condition. The staff barely offered any help unless we pushed for it, and we received no discount for the emotional and financial damages the break-in caused us... the manager just gave us a generic "we're so sorry this happened" spiel and replaced the locks... after we asked for new locks. My boyfriend and I had to approach the staff first for any sort of communication or assistance post-robbery. Not the other way around. The only reason we even found out we were robbed is because the police happened to be called by someone in the neighborhood nearby. Had the police never been involved, we wouldn't have known the break-in took place until reopening our unit. I should also add this detail: The insurance that ExtraSpace MAKES all their customers use only covers up to $10,000, and does NOT cover stolen or damaged jewelry. STAY AWAY from this company and look elsewhere for storage! And shame on the entire staff for running an absolute scam disguised as a business. read more

I understand that it's a difficult time during Covid, but this review has nothing to do with that. This has to do with bait and switch. I was Paying $125 per month for my 10x15 unit and that included insurance. ($114 plus $11 a month for insurance) starting February 2020 The unit is upper floor, far from elevator and only has a small access door. They decided to raise the rent by about $25 dollars a month starting last august which prices them higher than at least four other storage units in the neighborhood (~$150 month) %17+ price increase is large jump...(illegal above 10% when renting a house in many areas) Additionally I had autopay set up and working just fine for 5 months (on a credit card that has an available balance that could pay the year in advance) and they just randomly deleted that, so last month I was charged a late fee...I paid with the same card and went online to set up autopay again... Well this month I logged in and the card is once again deleted from the account. (This was not user error I assure you) What I was told on the phone by extra space "it's not our fault it just does that sometimes, just add your card again and try again" I called my credit card company and no charge was ever attempted or declined from extra space. To be 100% other than these price changes and horrible customer service, the facility is secure enough and clean enough for my needs. I wish they wouldn't gouge the people that choose to stay with them. For more than a few months! Additionally before you reply to this review with "oh sorry please call 888 storage" unless you're adjusting the rates to match the other units in the area, and refunding my fees. I'm moving down the street to another company and saving $400 a year and getting better customer service. read more

NOT THRILLED. I have two units here. The 1st unit i got in Mid March 2020. During Pandemic. The 2nd unit right around Mid May. We have not even been with them a year and they are increasing the prices. People are still having tough times. This is a sign that EXTRA STORAGE SPACE IS GREEDY. This is SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT they are increasing their rates at a time like this Wow. SMH. I have a unit at Life Storage ( previously Summerlin Storage ). I have had that unit over there over a year & they have not increased the rate. I will be taking my stuff in this unit at Extra Space to Life Storage on Hualapai & Peace Way. I've been renting here for the past year and a couple of months ago I went into my unit and when I opened the door, I noticed a majority of my work equipment was missing. In total, $45,000 worth of equipment that I use for my business. It has made a huge mess of my life, finances, and work. Upon my own investigation I realized that there is a gap above every storage unit and that a human being can climb into these units. The lock is attached to a latch, but from the inside, there are two small nuts that hold the latch into place. Someone must have climbed into the unit and undid the latch and opened the door. After they took what they wanted, they put the latch back and it looked like no one was there. I suspect it was personnel from the storage facility since every question I asked was responded to with false information. Unit management never responded to my emails and their claims department was unwilling to work with me to adjust the max claim amount on the insurance. If it was a normal robbery, I might be okay with the way things were handled, but there is no security at all. Actually, there is an open window above almost every interior unit that allows for anyone to access everyone else's units at any time they want. So after a devastating hit to my life and my business, the most I can do is warn others to not store valuables at this place. You will not be accommodated when they are stolen, even though they are giving free access for that to happen. read more

Update: after our trailer got broken into for the second time (this time, things were stolen from the outer compartments and they got inside the trailer somehow and stuff was all moved around) we quickly got our trailer out of there. I pay for secure storage at this lot but the gate is perpetually broken and stays locked open for weeks at a time. When I call to ask them when it will be fixed and to express my displeasure, they invite me to take my business elsewhere. They blame the fact that the gate is broken on other customers but if I recall, they claimed that part of their security measures were cameras. So just to sum up the service I'm paying for, the lot is not secure because the gate is always broken and the gate is always broken because they can't identify the customers who keep breaking it with their security cameras that are supposed to be protecting their customer's stuff. This place is the worst. Response to business: I've already experienced your customer service response to my concerns so I'm not very confident that you will do anything other than tell me to leave if I'm not happy. All I did was ask you to fix the problem and give me a sense of when you would do that. You refused and told me to leave if I wasn't happy and then you raised my rates. Choose this place for location a couple of years ago. We understand that rates can change but we were not pleased with the one we were paying or that the exit gate did not work for a year and we had to drive back to the other gate and get out and go out the side door, put in the code and then quickly go thru the door and get back into your car. Ava or Eva (sorry if spelled incorrectly) was very helpful in finding us a better rate and kept customers. One note is they aren't always in the office during office hours if you just swing by, so you're better off calling first and seeing if they can meet you. read more

It's been a little over a year since I started renting my unit at Extra Space Storage. This location is very convenient in the Rhodes Ranch Town Center. The major cross streets are Warm Springs/Durango. Prior to signing a rental contract, I searched on the website to do some storage space window shopping. The website had some great deals at the time, or so I thought. I also appreciated that there were actual video presentations to show potential renters what their unit would look like. Ultimately,the main reason that I settled with this particular Extra Space Storage was because of how close this location was from my home at the time. I went in not too long after to view the unit in person and sign my contract. Their office hours were convenient so I was able to swing by after I got off work. The first time I went there a gentleman was there sitting behind the counter. Honestly, he didn't seem like he wanted to be there. I came in to ask some general questions and for him to show me the unit I reserved online. It was a really quick come and go visit. The second time I went to the office there was a lady working. She was a lot more welcoming than the person from my first visit. She went over the contract with me and took in my payment. She also explained how to use their keypad lock system and the hours that I am able to access my storage unit. That was that. The unit itself was perfect size for our belongings. It was also cleaned up very well from the prior "renters." The storage place itself has a very unpleasant smell as you walk in. I haven't been to very many other storage units but this particular "scent" gives me headaches every time I go in. It is what it is. It doesn't look like they do a great job with up-keeping the buildings. The elevators sometimes don't work and it's always pretty dirty whenever we go, so much for disinfecting during a pandemic. There also isn't very many parking spaces. Whenever I go to the storage unit I usually park in front of the door that leads to the building that my unit is in, as I was instructed to. However, there will also be times where multiple cars will be doing the same thing as you and at the same time at the storage unit so to have 4-5 cars bunched up my one entrance makes it a bit uncomfortable. Now, the upsetting part about Extra Space Storage is that I have had a rental price increase TWICE in the last year. Let's not forget that we are also going through a pandemic and many other businesses are being more forgiving on matters such as this. The first time they increased my rental price, I was not given any form of notice so I called their office and left a message. It wasn't even 3 months. I didn't receive a call back within the week so I called their main customer service line and spoke with someone. **Note: the office finally called back almost a month later.**The second time I finally got a notice in the mail with an explanation of why they're raising their prices and it's because of the market conditions. So, if say something as "big" as mortgage rates decrease, that means that storage rental units increase. If I calculated it by an annual price change then that's about $200 more per year each increase is equivalent to. Very upsetting and disappointing. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't know what kind of prices, deals, and service others were getting at other storage units. Here's a quick breakdown... Pros: -convenient location -great size units -the sign up process is quick and easy Cons: -customer service is very mediocre -lack of communication -their Prices (great deals at first, then ridiculous periodic price increases) -the storage buildings are not very well maintained, in my opinion Overall, based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend this storage place. I think it may be time for me to search around again. I really did try to give this place a second shot after my first unannounced price increase. read more

If I could take away this one star just so that it can be no star I would. This place By far has the worst customer care I ever experienced . I was actually helping out a friend of mine to get some of his belongs out of the storage because I have a pick up truck. Once we loaded up my truck. We got into our vehicles and started to vacate the premises. Upon reaching the exit gate my friend was at the keypad and punched his code and stated it says area closed. Long story short corporate was contacted someone got in touch with property manager who lives on site and knew that we were still on property. I understand keypad won't let you in if you're trying to get in but leaving come on that's a different story. What if something bad or one of us had an emergency at home and needed to get home hit couldn't because the gate is Inoperable. And then come To find out the office closes at 6pm that's office. Not the keypads. Keypads stop working at 10pm according to customer service rep. I wouldn't recommend this place even if it was the nicest storage place I'd rather take my chance in a rough area than to deal with this property manager who is rude and yells at you. Who does that!!! So unless you like getting locked in a storage facility then maybe this place is for you but my honest opinion I'd go somewhere else. read more

My father was renting a large unit here for quite some time. On September 21st, he committed suicide unexpectedly. My father had nothing left other than what was in his storage unit, as he was homeless shortly before passing. He always paid on time, and had actually already paid his unit through mid October. When mid October came around, I still couldn't bear to go get his things from inside, as this has been very taxing for me mentally. I also don't have a car or truck and I needed to try to rent one. I wanted to see if Extra Space would work with me to extend a little so I had more time to collect some of his person items from storage. I told them I have nothing of his and everything he had left was there. Initially, they said that I could extend for a couple weeks no problem. I told them I had no way to pay for extra time because I'm a 21 year old broke college student and would need to try to get a truck to get things. They said it was no problem, they'd just need his death certificate. I said, okay. When I got his death certificate in and sent it in & even his suicide note, though, they then told me that in order to access the unit I'd have to pay all new charges for the extension. I was never told there would be continued charges, and was under the impression they were allowing me to get items at a slightly later date given the circumstances and the fact he had passed away. This was not the case. I've been trying to see if I can put money together but I literally can't. My dad left nothing behind monetarily and they knew this and of the circumstances. The workers chose to lie and say I'd have extra time when I'm reality there were charging for it. Now I don't even know if his items are there (personal family photos even) or have been auctioned off. read more

Storage price raised and unwilling to honor previously negotiated rate for 12 months. Employee Stated new owners new policy, if you don't like it, take it up with corporate. I then asked about new renter pricing, stated I'm not a new customer but a transfer from old business. Will not give any promotion. No longer supports military, veteran or medical professional. No discount for any reason. I ask if management is willing to work with me, they said no. They purchased a business, and their customer but rather have them leave than help them stay.
