Inconsistent service and a supremely disappointing rat problem…read more Service is hit or miss. What we've experienced is the gal behind the counter is not very helpful, and at times rude. Conversely, the gentleman who works here is awesome! He's one of the few reasons why we have not ditched this place entirely. I always forget his name after asking, but he is always very helpful. We've been storing our items for a short time here. When putting back our christmas items at the beginning of 2015, we returned to a foul smelling storage facility, and unit. Rats had taken up residence, eaten parts of the legs of our dining room chairs, pooped & weed in most of the unit, and made nests out of our bed linens. 8 months later, we're still, slowly, trying to clean up. After returning home from the first time I attempted to clean up, I got sick. Stomach issues, respiratory issues, etc. Now, each time I go in I have to wear gloves and a mask while I sift through what is salvageable and what isn't. When we notified the gal behind the counter she said, "Yeah, we know. That's why there's bait boxes throughout the buildings." When I mentioned the rat problem ruined a bunch of our items she said, "Well, there's nothing we can do about that." No offer of apology, nothing. Truly disappointing, especially after paying $100+ every month for the 10x10 space. The vibe I got; as long as we kept paying the storage fees, everything was fine. On top of that, they recently raised their rates. We've also noticed another infestation; some dodgy folks are "living" out if their storage units. Unmade beds, clothes, groceries, and rubbish. I get that times are tough and people have to do what they have to do. It's just made me feel unsafe. P.S. The unsafe factor for me was upped a notch when I was recently contacted, while at work, after having posted my initial review. I was asked about writing the review, and why did I not speak to her, etc. Unfortunately this gal's tone was very accusatory, coarse, and invasive. Which made the call very unproductive and very off-putting. I thought it very unprofessional for this gal to search her company's database for my name and phone number, then call me to complain about my complaint. Unsure if remorse or damage control has set in; we recently discovered a $5 credit to our bill this month. Luckily we're short-timers, and will be moving soon, and personally will no longer need their services. I would strongly advise you to inspect and re-inspect the building, and where your potential unit will be, before storing your items here. I would also re-evaluate how much personal information you give this company. I've felt neither safe nor clean when here.

I have been looking at what's online (cause that's how we show now days), but furniture is so hard to purchase online, especially in Hawaii because shipping and returns are a nightmare for large/heavy products. I was close to taking a gamble on some couches or recliners, but I was very hesitant. I passed by BedMart on my way to work a few times and saw they had a "furniture sale" banner hung up recently. I decided to call my girlfriend and take a stroll through as she too is looking for new furniture to fill her new apartment. Our experience: We went in at around 6:15pm on a Monday evening, not expecting much cause we've gone to other furniture stores when we were back on O'ahu. Nothing negative to say about other stores, but prices are very high, not to mention I have a Toyota Corolla. Not much will fit in my car so delivery costs were another added expense. BUT, as soon as we get into BedMart here in Hilo, it was a surprise to get a very different experience that we have been used to. CHRIS, welcomed us with nothing but positive vibes and great stories to share about his experience with both the beds and other furniture in the store. He was very straight forward about each item we were interested in and he wasn't trying to necessarily "make a sale," he was just talking stories with us about the different items we looked at and tested out. I love this approach as I didn't feel pressured or rushed to try anything or buy anything. He was a great resource of information and very friendly to talk to about our furniture needs and questions. Needless to say, after lots of furniture sampling and friendly chat, my girlfriend found a recliner she absolutely loved and I found a couch I couldn't leave the store without. There are so many things CHRIS/BedMart does to make purchasing large pieces of furniture, SO EASY! I won't spoil it for you! If you are looking for a piece of furniture, new bed, home decor, etc. I PROMISE YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED, go see CHRIS at BedMart in Hilo.
