I needed a storage unit for a few months for some garage kept items, like a snowblower, a pair of…read moretires, a few empty coolers etc. I got a mailer at home with all the wonderful features included: a reasonable monthly fee, no long term contract, video surveillance, free move-in truck, month to month. The place is spotless and new. Front desk personal were helpful, gave me the tour and quoted me a monthly price. As I'm about to sign, they tell me that my first payment is due now and its about 3 times the monthly price. SCREECH to a halt. Pro-rated rest of this month, second month, service fee. What about the free-month? That's the third month. What? Where does it say that? Nowhere exactly, but that's included deep in the "some restrictions may apply" language around page 17 on the the little credit card pad. I say, "Never Mind". They say, "What?" Yup, cancel it. Call it off. They offer to give me second month free. I repeat, they offer it. I agree, so now we're down to pro-rated one month and next month free, plus service fee. I put my stuff on a cart, take it up the elevator, load. Low and behold, I get an e-mail survey and respond that I think their "one month free" deal is deceptive. I get a personal call from a director level person who advises me that I'm not welcome. After my "free month", come get your stuff. I call to come get my stuff and they inform me that access by drive-in is limited to certain hours on Saturday and that elevator is not useable. (This is a brand new facility) They don't actually say this, they say something like, "Foot Traffic Only", which I asked them to clarify. So, I said, I have to bring my snowblower down three flights of stairs? They got mad when I said I'd put it on one of their carts and push it down the three flights unattended. It will be much easier to roll the tires down. I hung up on them. Going to get my stuff a week early. I can safely say that their biggest selling point is "We won't raise your prices every 3 months like Public Storage". PS: I wonder how many patrons fell down on their super slick drive-in coating. Maybe that's what they're repairing. I don't know.

They were on time with an empty truck, gave us a quote and hauled it all away on the same day. It really was amazing! Oh! Did I mention how much more reasonable they are than the "Junk" Guys? I mean ridiculously LESS expensive. Wanna know the craziest part? While they were here for junk removal, I had them move a dresser to the garage so I could paint it. Once it was painted, I asked if they could come back and bring it back up. When I asked for a quote....they said..."don't worry about it...just tip the guys!" (Which I did...generously!) Thanks Dudes with a Truck! I'm not calling anyone else!

To say that I had a "bad moving experience" with this company would be an understatement!…read moreLet's begin with the fact that the young man who came to do my estimate undersized my load; and important things were left behind in my garage without anyone saying anything to me. I was told on moving day that this "dude" was fired well before my move. But no one, literally, checked in w me in the 7 weeks prior to scheduled move day until I got electronic confirmation of scheduled move on my selected date. I had to chase them to re- confirm two weeks out by phone. I was quoted a higher price than even the "big boy" nationwide subsidiary ; and, to owner's credit, he matched that price. However, I shoulda taken it as a sign when my deposit check was returned "no such address!" The owner eventually supplied me with another address-but NEVER cashed my roughly 600 deposit until a week AFTER my horribly eventful move. Day of move- two of the three mover guys went outa their way to help get my large pieces out of difficult spots-- and that's in understatement. The third guy kept wanting me to leave and cut up my treasured couch-and, on the Point B end- he was the dude who finally said, " look we gotta wrap this up-- gotta start this whole thing again at 5:30 tmw morning," like that was somehow my problem; while he and his coworkers literally threw my belongings into the basement storage area of my condo with absolutely no thought or concern as to how I would be able to retrieve anything buried there under. (Subsequently took me and a friend 1.5 hrs to take all out and put back a pathways and some order of need.) After jamming all my furniture and belongings into a too-small truck, they arrived at my condo apt and started to unpack the truck at breakneck speed. I couldn't even have five minutes break from incessant Qs "where do you want this" while speaking to my cancer doc on findings. I started to discover the damages to my property and possessions even before we left Point A- there was damage to the ceiling tiles, walls, railing of my main staircase and dining room: basement door. The owner got a painter in who did a pretty decent job of repairs-- AFTER I asked for proof of his insurance and stated I wanted to file a claim against it. A call to NJ Dept of Consumer Affairs also got the dude-owner to take me more seriously- as I was about to lodge a formal compliant and told him so. The worst part is all the myriad of "small" damage done on the receiving end. They carelessly dropped the futon portion of my couch not at all in it's place: took a friend couple and I an hour to figure out how it should be and have the strength to place properly. Every corner on that piece of furniture was chipped. Almost every piece of furniture I own was scratched! The dudes outright refused to put my flakeboard kitchen table back together again- as it needed just one new hole drilled (all of us had tools) to keep it from becoming the three-legged eating surface that WAS solidly four-legged earlier that morning. The disdain and "victim blaming" that I endured because many of my pieces were old particle IKEA-style was palpable. Which would make ya think they would handle my three fully wood, expensive dressers and platform bed without incident- wrong again. They scratched the hardwood floors along with the furniture itself deeply. A month in, I'm still finding places I have to try to use those furniture mark concealers, as well as the floors, to try to lessen the vision of all the tearing up they did. This was not a firm that wrapped my larger pieces in those blankets you see in elevators where ppl move in. This was not a firm that dedicated their movers to as many hours UNpacking (6+) as loading. This was a couple of nice boys and one flip dude who just wanted me to give them separate checks for tips, "because Spenser won't break one big check out to us- he'll forget." If my move was getting too laborious for the gentlemen sent after 7 hrs- the owner should have come to help himself or sent fresh crew members to take over. To boot, even someone broke the edge of the sidewalk In front of the door to the condo by poking something very sharp thru it with obvious brut force. The owner complained that he "made no $" on my move; paying for the house repairs that were necessitated. But since almost every piece of my furniture suffered damage or maltreatment, and I patched things up as best I can- cause I'm not $$ able to buy new stuff--nor should that be necessitated, imagine how FLOORED I was when the owner cashed what was my deposit check the week following my move!! Seriously, he didn't have the good sense to give me a substantial break on the move itself-- given how miserably my stuff was treated. Btw- I did tip each guy individually- and up to the standard I felt their labors and results warranted. Please save urself a mess and stay clear of the Dudes when planning your next move!
