She unexpectedly passed away on the evening of March 5, and I've been trying to handle everything while grieving. The last thing I needed was a storage company making things harder. I went into the office IN PERSON to change my billing date from the 26th to the 1st. They told me the prorated charge would be $0.97, which I approved right then and there. Later, they claimed they "didn't have authorization," even though I gave it, and they NEVER told me the billing date wasn't changed. I told the manager, Michael, on March 27 that I was moving out the next day and would have everything out by March 30. He knew exactly what I was dealing with. He knew these were my sister's things. He knew I was trying to close out her affairs. And he STILL didn't tell me the billing date change wasn't processed. Instead, they charged me the full $23.05 instead of the $0.97 I had already approved. So I called corporate, thinking surely someone would fix this obvious mistake. I spoke with Arthur and Alexander, both "escalation supervisors." Not only did they refuse to correct the charge, but Arthur actually said to me: "Sorry, mistakes happen." Yes -- the company admitted THEY made the mistake... ...and then refused to fix it. Who treats grieving customers like this? Who acknowledges an error and then refuses to correct it? What kind of company operates this way?
