PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR BILL!
TLDR: I was at this facility for about 6.5 months. Your unit price will most likely be raised 3-6 months after your free month. You'll pay the "web rate" for about 3 months and then your bill will be raised to over the "in-store" price. You are then supposed to notice your bill is more expensive, come in and "negotiate" the price down to around the in-store price. Understand though the on-site staff are fantastic. The corporation is terrible. The included pictures are my monthly bills and the listing of my unit days after I moved out.
I would like to say upfront the on-site staff were fantastic every time I interacted with them and the facility is really nice (hence 2 stars instead of 1 star). But due to the pricing practices of the off-site corporate entities, I left after 6.5 months and giving two chances to fix my unit price. People are lured in with a free month and decent unit prices, only to have their unit price jacked up after a few months. From my understanding, the on-site staff don't control the prices of the units, thus not at fault for the scummy pricing practice I, and from my understanding many others, experienced. (Side note: looking through the other reviews, most/all seem to read like they're from people that have been here for less than a month)
I came in paying $77/month for my 7'x5'. I made that payment for 3 months then was charged $91 on my 4th (paying) month. Understand at the time the "web rate" of a 10'x5' was $94, only $3 more. I went in and was told they can try negotiating it down. On-site staff submitted a negotiation of $80/month and said I'd get my next bill reduced (again, on-site staff were fantastic). So my next bill I paid $69, which I thought was the new $80/month minus $11 overpaid the month prior. But then the bill after was for $89. Come to find out after looking closer at my account, the off-site price setter only brought it down $2, and I was given a $20 credit the month I paid $69. So because I liked the facility and the staff are great (and I didn't want to move my stuff), I gave them one more chance to have the price brought back down to the $77 I moved in under. On-site staff sent off the "negotiation" and 1-2 weeks later learned it was denied. The on-site staff did offer a couple options in an attempt to get me to stay (again on-site staff were fantastic), but each option would eventually result in the inevitable rate increase. So I found another storage facility that said they don't jack up their rates (hopefully) and moved out. A couple days later, I checked their site to see if my unit was relisted. It was relisted for $73/month... $4 less than what I was willing to pay.
Understand I'm fine with general rate increases over extended periods of time due to general increased costs of running the facility. What I'm not okay with are random 20%-30% jumps for no reason.
So if money is of no object to you, it's a fantastic storage facility. Excellent staff. Drive through storage. Clean. But the off-site corporation will try to milk you dry. read more
