They advertised $1 rent for the first month only to make you buy a lock (that likely cost them $2) for $20 and charge a $29 move-in fee despite providing zero services, they don't plow after snow so access to your storage is likely blocked after any significant storm, have limited hours of operation in which you are able to access your own personal belongings, modified their office into an automated machine and removed the staff, had a broken gate for quite some time, announced they are doing some remodeling and access to your unit may be impacted for the next 4 months and potentially inaccessible entirely on certain days, etc. Then the grand finale, I was planning to move out at the end of April but I stopped in and the manager told me it didn't matter when I moved out as they prorated the departure month so you only pay for the days you rented. Instead of moving out on 4/29 as planned, I moved out on 5/3, and was told that I would be charged in full for May as they rent "month to month". No proration or refund for only using the space for 3 of 31 days would be provided. In summary, they are an absolutely terrible company so I would highly recommend you never even consider renting from them.

I was assured that the movers would prefer to utilize the front door. The movers had a 2 hour window and they never made it to the office in that time frame. They called 20 minutes after the window and said they would be there in 15 minutes. 45 minutes after the 2 hour window they called back saying that they were at the basement bay. I informed them that I was told that they would prefer the front door. It was not until 60 minutes after the 2 hour window that they made it to the office. It took them 15 minutes to move the truck from the back of the building to the front. They were pleasant enough. They moved the items to where they needed to go. I am not impressed that after all the communication there was time lost and more expense for us because of the lack of clarity between Mike and his movers. It cost me approximately $50 because of their lack of communication

This was my experience and also my partner who had a separate storage unit at the same facility and experienced the same scam. We both agreed to a certain price upon rental, and when signing the paperwork we also had to sign that we wouldn't take any legal action against Extra space storage (who is a partner company with Life Storage). That should have been a red flag right there. After 3 months of paying the agreed upon price of $99 they raised the price to $207 a month and said it was because of "Market Conditions" and they use the "Real-estate model" of gauging rent prices because they consider that renting a storage unit is similar to renting an apartment. When I asked a staff member if there were any specials or promotions or coupons he said sorry we don't have any promotions at this time, which was a stark contrast to the way that they bent over backwards when we were initially signing up for the rental over the phone to give us multiple promotions on the sign up day. They kept it at the $207 price until I moved out over a year later (due to not being able to physically move due to personal circumstances). It's really unfair to the staff since they seem to hire friendly and helpful people who handle customer service and have to deal with all of the people who are dissatisfied after they realize they've been scammed, and then the customer survey at the time of ending a rental space ask if staff were helpful, when the issue isn't the staff being helpful it's the policy of those in charge arbitrarily and without warning implementing massive rate hikes. Also, the heat was out on my climate controlled unit which I later found out maintenance was rescheduled 3 times to fix it and I didn't receive any notice, I had to ask the staff myself upon entering my storage unit building and ask why it was freezing inside. This is unacceptable! I hope all of my belongings are undamaged due to the extreme temperature fluctuation that was not reported to me. Stay far away from this company and their partner company Life Storage unless you enjoy spending and exorbitant amount on an empty space in a building. God bless you all!

We did a virtual walkthrough a couple weeks prior to the move so they could give me a ballpark estimate, and the final price wound up being about $30 under the estimate; pretty damn close. The best endorsement I can offer: I had a remote meeting Friday morning as the moving started which I took in the backyard so I was out of the way. I kept seeing my husband wandering around out of the corner of my eye, so I muted my audio to see what was wrong. His response? "I'm bored. There isn't anything for me to do, they're just taking care of everything." They really went above and beyond -- helped bring a bulky arcade cabinet that we weren't moving up to the garage from the basement, and even assisted with arranging the placement of rugs in the apartment so they were sorted out before piling on furniture and boxes. When we got settled and unpacked in the new place we found not a single thing was broken or damaged. I was impressed that beyond their obvious competence everyone was extremely friendly and easy to work with. I would unhesitatingly recommend them to anyone looking for a painless moving experience.

Their movers (the owner and his son) arrived on time and came fully prepared with furniture pads and the necessary tools to transport all my furniture (even being prepared and easily able to transport an oversized couch down over an exterior balcony when it would not fit through the stairs)! They were courteous and clearly experienced and took time to ensure none of my belongings were damaged during the move and that they were securely packed in their truck for transport. For some of my items that needed to be placed into storage, they helped me organize everything "Tetris" style to the point where I was able to use a smaller storage unit than originally expected. The savings from using a smaller unit alone will likely pay for the entire cost of using movers over the next few months! All in all, I was extremely impressed with my experience with B&F and look forward to using them for my next move (whenever that may be).

I even had an agent tell me today that I did everything right, and apologized for all of the incorrect and lying information I've been given by the company, but that the case is considered closed and no supervisor will reach out to me.
