I have been bringing my dogs to the clinic…read moresince 2017; they've been treated by Dr. Dennis, Dr. Beth, and Dr. Finney during that time and have always received excellent care. They have had dental work performed, spay surgeries, and multiple tests (labs, x-rays, etc). They have been referred to incredible specialists for musculoskeletal operations, emergency care, and cardiac/pulmonary conditions. My pets have always received informed, compassionate, transparent and honest, and affordable care thanks to the doctors and staff at Portland Vet. The staff in the clinic, including all of the vets techs, are exceptional. They truly love what they do and they go above and beyond to provide expert care to all of their patients. They also are fantastic with explaining things to confused and worrisome pet parents, and with doing everything they can to get pets seen as quickly as possible. Thank you, Portland Vet, for giving me so many beautiful days with my pets.

They…read moreconfirmed an appointment I made in January for June of 2025, then repeatedly changed the requirements leading up to my two dogs' stay. They failed to communicate all boarding requirements up front and failed repeatedly for months after every interaction I had with them. Despite my efforts to ensure things were all set, and getting my dogs extra vaccines that only this vet requires, they put forth another appointment requirement just 3 days before they were supposed to board, when I had no time off left to meet their requirements. Lyndsey left me a voice message informing me that they needed the exam on the Monday before having them board on Friday, and acknowledged that the first time we did without it. They should have stated that in January when confirming the appointment. She then went on to stress how little attention they would get, including very limited checks of them on the weekends. Their supposed manager also acts as a vet tech and doesn't return calls. Given the lack of staff and ability, I felt blessed to use Petsmart instead and come home to dogs who were well cared for, with much attention received.

For example, I needed to set up an appointment for my pet, and was told there was an opening on the same day. I was later charged for an emergency visit! If I had known that having an appointment on the same day (even though it was probably due to someone else cancelling their appointment) then I would not have scheduled for the same day! We are also always charged a fee for calling to set up appointments! Why is that a fee!? This vet needs to do better at not overcharging and needs to start letting customers know what they will be charged for.

Yes sometimes they get full and booked but to be fair it's a small hospital. There are other places to take your pet to. They are always running around like a chicken with their head cut off so they can do everything they can to help. I've never had a bad experience here. If they have room to get your animal in I suggest going here. They genuinely care for your animal and will do everything in their power to help. (in may 2026 I was told to call the following Monday after a bad week) to see how she was. She was worse, I called them at the vets request. I told them she was much worse and needed to come in. They claimed they had no openings but could see her the next day. I couldn't wait so I took her to an emergency vet. She died that Wednesday, she was only 4 years old. I'm heart broken and disgusted with the no help I received. it appears to me, it's all about the money and not your pet. you would think they would in the least apologize for their behavior. of course they didn't . Told his outcome from surgery was rare. So I Strongly Encourage pet owners to speak with previous consumers who put their pet through the eye surgery and did NOT have a favorable outcome. Every team mbr is kind and caring. My dog still loves to socialize with every dog & human, but he walks extremely timidly. No brisk walk, no running,...my heart breaks for him because I was selfish & chose this treatment for him.

My rather shy collie went directly up to Dr. Ramsey as he entered the room, and stayed by his side while he discussed the growths on her eyelids with us. He simply petted and cooed to her as if she were his own dog. Dr Ramsey assured us that her eyelid growths were treatable, and although he COULD have frozen them off, making the visit much more costly one, he gave us medications, answered every question we had, and reassured us she would not lose her eyesight. I realize most vets go into this profession because they love animals, but this man is GIFTED with them. He is truly a dog- whisperer. His knowledge and kindness relieved our fears . I cannot say enough good about this man.
