UPDATE: The stylist has mentioned that she may be taking legal action against me. She thinks the…read morephotos of the haircut she gave me are so abhorrent that I must have cut it MYSELF after leaving the salon to sabotage her business. Imagine giving someone a haircut so bad that you actually think they hacked it up themselves out of spite. As if the six months growing it out isn't going to be torture enough?
I got the worst haircut of my life here. I had shoulder-length, straight hair and asked for LIGHT layers, and to keep the length. I wanted something low-maintenance that didn't require extra styling or curling. I brought several pictures. The first iteration Brittney gave me was a big round bulbous bowl that was curled in at the bottom like a middle-aged mom and was chin-length. I asked her to make it less mom-like. She then proceeded to cut mullety layers into the top of my head and most of those chunks are 3-4 inches long while the rest of my hair is chin-length, so it will take at least a year to grow those layers out to the point where I can even put them up in a ponytail. It's uneven all around my head and is honestly embarrassing to go out in pubic. I can't leave the house without a dozen bobby pins.
I wore a hat to work for a week and when I finally went without one, one of my co-workers said, "oh... that's why you've been wearing a hat." I texted Brittney to tell her that the haircut was really not what I wanted, and instead of offering helpful advice or even a partial refund she had the gall to tell me that I had some personal psychological issues with my own hair, and not that it was because she gave me a bad haircut. Take a look at my mullet and tell me if I'm delusional. Good thing I just took passport photos and I've got this style on international lockdown for the next decade.
When someone offers online booking and is available for appointments the entire next day, that should be your first hint to look elsewhere.
RE The owner's response:
"...every day, clients walk into salons with "inspo" photos culled from stylized images on social media and ask for a cut that will look exactly the same when they roll out of bed in the morning. Unfortunately, a minuscule percentage of them possess hair that is actually capable of this. I explained this to you, suggesting comparable alternatives and demonstrating quick, simple techniques that would allow you to achieve your desired look with minimal effort."
You explained this to me long after you destroyed my hair, not before or during. If you weren't capable of executing a really simple haircut on someone's, say, ethnic hair, you should have said so before breaking out the scissors.
"I feel compelled to mention the hostile manner in which you carried yourself throughout our appointment."
This is an embarrassing lie on your part. I was never once hostile during the haircut and at most I pointed out that the style you first gave me was "momlike" and that I didn't want it to be so round and puffy. You got annoyed and told me to show you the desired photos I wanted and explain EXACTLY what the difference was between the picture and the cut you gave me. There were no similarities between the two, whatsoever. As further proof that I wasn't hostile, I gave you a 20% tip just out of courtesy (and habit more than anything), not because I liked the cut. If I was as aggressive and cruel as you seem to remember, I would have left in an actual huff without tipping you a whopping 20% for destroying my hair.
"Again, I'm very sorry that in the nearly two hours I spent with you I was unable to deliver what you wanted."
This is another lie. You were still finishing up another client when I arrived for our 1:30 pm appointment. My payment timestamp indicates that I paid you at 3:00 pm, so the haircut at MOST took less than an hour and a half.
"I wish you success on your continued search for a stylist who can provide you with a zero-maintenance cut that looks like a magazine photo when you roll out of bed. "
The sarcasm is a nice touch here. If you make mistakes, you should own up to them, not get your friends from across the country to post obviously fake reviews to bury this one.
