I found Hair by Julianne Cho and was booked with Sumi, and I'm so glad I trusted her! Sumi was incredibly sweet, patient, and attentive throughout the entire appointment. She actually recommended a softer, wavier perm, but I kept insisting I wanted it curlier (lol). She listened to exactly what I wanted while still giving me honest professional advice, which I really appreciated. She also recommended getting a haircut beforehand, and I'm SO glad I listened. I have really thick hair with a lot of density, and she spent about 40 minutes cutting it. She didn't rush at all and was so meticulous. She removed just enough weight while keeping my length, added beautiful long layers, and gave my hair so much more movement and dimension. The perm came out exactly how I was hoping! My hair feels so much lighter, the curls are beautiful, and I'm honestly obsessed with the result. I drove about an hour from the Valley, and it was 100% worth it. Parking was easy, the salon was clean and adorable, and they even had snacks and drinks for clients. Overall such a great experience, and I wouldn't hesitate to make the drive again. Thank you, Sumi!

I cannot say enough good things about this salon and Jennifer!!…read more I requested a same day appointment as I had botched hair extensions put in at another salon the day before. Jennifer agreed to accommodate me and even stayed after hours to work on me. She assessed my hair and decided what to do (we ended up removing 50% of the extensions -- the previous salon had added too much hair so she could charge me for more hair, which was one of the reasons I ended up looking like I was wearing a wig). Jennifer cut the width of the extensions and replaced them at the most natural position for my head shape, and blended everything together seamlessly. Jennifer, you are amazing!!! Thank you so much. I will definitely be back!

I love this place. It may be geographically inconvenient but when it comes to extensive cut that…read morerequires some skilled person to cut my complicated thick wavy hair, then I am willing to drive as early and as far to come here to get the right skilled person to do it right. You must make an appointment because their busy times varies. In fact, they never reveal their actual business hours. I've come on a Saturday when they're empty and I've come on a Wednesday when they're packed. A cut is $75, depending on the work done. That is considered cheap (at least for me because my hair is quite heavy, thick and wavy). Super thorough. Attention to details. And fabulous service. My only criticism is their style. They tend to make me look real Asian (fobby) but I don't mind that because I would go home right after and wash it off only to find super linear, fine, straight well done cut that doesn't require any maintenance thereafter. At most places, they tend to hide the flaws through the styles. Not at this place. What you see is what you get. Their business doesn't appear to be doing as good as I remembered, but that motivated me to finally write a review. They really are good and they won't disappoint.

Through the non-profit "Children with Hair Loss" Du Japon Hair Club was vetted for donations and is the only approved salon in the Los Angeles area. I met Yuki, who owns and operates this salon and also one of the best stylists I've had in my years of barbers. She is so nice and explained the process of the donation and also provided guidance on selecting the best hair cut for me. After looking at a few photos, I decided to go with a moderate cut to ease back into the general population. I was so happy with the results and would recommend Yuki to any of my friends. She will only take appointments and is the busiest during the weekend. I would recommend calling well in advance for your appointment, as she works generally towards the end of the week through the weekend.

It was my first wavy/curly haircut with specialists and I was lucky enough to meet Anya, who understands curly/wavy hair and the trial and error that comes with it. She asked questions to learn more about what I was looking for, and delivered! My hair has so much volume and personality with a flattering style for my face frame, and it's practical enough for me to work with on busy days. I mentioned some scalp concerns to Anya (who is a scalp specialist!) and was provided with information and possible solutions. So much care was given to cutting and styling my hair, despite being there beyond the offical closing time, yet, she did not rush me. Kiki, who worked with washing my hair and providing me with a blowout, provided explanations to products used and why. I was ready to fall asleep from the massage-like scalp/head cleanse during the shampoo stage. This is the first time I ever talked this much during my time at a salon! I really got to bond over shared interests with both Kiki and Anya. They worked their magic and are supportive, sweet and kind. I think I found a salon where I can transform, blossom and grow with people who genuinely care about their clients and hair.

Not only did they say they can't do anything about it they now charged me 100% of the fee. First they said 50% then they said 100%! They didn't even ask if I want to use the card on file just went ahead and charged 100% I am just disappointed in how they are not understanding of when people can't make due to sickness or some things come up last minute and treating people crappy during pregnancy! As a mom who has never gotten more than blond highlights, I called Hair with lots of questions. I'm terrible with names, but the woman I spoke to (salon manager, maybe?) was incredibly nice and helpful. Other stylists came and asked her questions and treated her like an adult. Daniel was AMAZING! He not only took her inspo pic and made it a reality, but he also gave her tips about how to style it herself. The sweetest part was he asked what her favorite band was and it became a part of the music rotation the whole time we were there. Super funky and cool vibe for the whole salon, too. I watched other clients getting amazing color and cuts. Definitely will go back! From me: everyone was super rad AF.
