It looked as if it was brand new. The whole storage business itself was nice and clean, it was fully fenced, no garbage, kept in very good condition. We talked to the manager during our unloading of stuff and he was super friendly and told us to have a nice day when done. I thought it was refreshing to hear someone so friendly at a storage unit place that I thought I would write a review!

And by that I mean ice and snow and sleet. So depending on whether you choose to store your vehicle in the inexpensive open lot or if you choose to use an actual storage unit. Which is what I did. The ability to have our vehicle picked up and dropped off at the airport, or to be transported back to the facility to retrieve our vehicle, was a major reason we continued to use them. Unfortunately, over the past 5-8 years, the service gradually declined. Hours became shorter, the days transportation was available became fewer, and holidays increasingly meant extended weekends when services were unavailable. At the same time, the monthly rate continued to increase. Last month, we were simply notified by text that Vigilante would no longer provide airport pickups or deliveries and that customers would need to use Need a Lift for transportation. There was no meaningful advance notice or explanation. When I tried to contact Vigilante to confirm what this meant for our upcoming trip, I received no response to my email and had difficulty reaching anyone by phone. Eventually, an employee confirmed that it was now essentially self-service, using our access code and lock combination. I specifically asked whether our access code would work 24/7 because our flights often arrive after hours. I was assured that it would. It did not work when we arrived. Fortunately, the Need a Lift driver had an access code and was able to get us into the facility. Once we reached our vehicle, the battery was dead--another type of assistance Vigilante had provided in the past. After 18 years as a customer, it is disappointing to see the services that made this facility worthwhile gradually disappear while the monthly cost continues. We are now essentially paying the same fee for a park-and-fly storage facility with very little of the service that originally made Vigilante convenient and worthwhile. This is not about expecting a company to operate exactly as it did 18 years ago. Businesses change. It is about how those changes were handled and the lack of communication with long-term customers. After nearly two decades of loyalty, I expected better communication and consideration.

Looks like BBB and CC disputes are my only recourse.

I called them the next day (3-20-2021) and told them that I no longer needed the space. The manager said it was ok, that she would go down the waiting list. I asked if she would just put what I paid back on my credit card and she said no, it's nonrefundable. Keep in mind, I called the day after I reserved the rv storage space AND they had a waiting list for people wanting that rv storage space. I asked her "So you're going to keep the $85 I paid and rent the same spot, for the same month that I paid for, to a person on the waiting list for another $85?" Her response was "I thought you understood it was nonrefundable." She had clearly stated that the $10 setup fee was nonrefundable but not the $75 monthly fee. I think this very clearly shows you the type of people you'll be dealing with if you rent from this storage facility. I was completely astounded that they would keep my money after one day, my rv never in the space, and especially when they had a waiting list for this rv space? I find this incredibly greedy and very bad business practice!!! I would strongly recommend using a different storage facility!
