There was an advertised sale, a Fourth of July sale, and we drove all the way to Mount Vernon to visit Ned and buy some product on sale. Hubby went in, cause i am disabled, sometimes it's hard for me. But.... Hubby came back empty handed. Apparently the "Fourth of July Sale" that was advertised, was not even on the holiday itself! Ned said there was nothing he could do. NOTHiNG was on sale on the day of The Fourth. It was a waste of our time and energy. But more so, a disappointment.

Two out of the last three years I either couldn't make it very early or couldn't make it at all for Free Comic Book Day. The Staff suggested I send a Facebook message listing the titles I really wanted and they would try and set aside copies, and they did both years. I traded in a short box of comics for store credit. Realized of course that they couldn't give me retail value before doing it, but still got more than I was expecting. The amount of titles they stock from large, small and medium publishers alike is impressive. They have fulfilled several special orders I've requested. The Game Room for RPG, card games, etc. is spacious and inviting. Feel pretty fortunate to have this store in my area.

The shop is well lit and the art pieces spaced out so you could actually view things. The shopkeeper was super friendly and told me about the artist when I inquired about the pieces I was interested in. Then it was just up to deciding which one I wanted. My husband and I left to go to the bakery across the way so I could think it over and there was no sales pressure to purchase just friendly information and pleasant small talk about where we were staying on the island and the artist's process I was inquiring on. I'm not sure why other reviewers were so judgmental on it. There are several galleries and shops with various different artists about and they all just have different pieces to peruse with different price points. As long as the person purchasing it is fine paying it who cares. I'm personally happy to support such a shop and the artists they are in turn supporting. All I can think of is that they are old reviews. The gallery I went to is right in Eastsound on the main street right across from Brown Bear Bakery.

The flatbread was nice and crispy with a good flavor for something pre-made and just needed to be heated. But the highlight of my visit was the Autumn Heat tea. The "Heat" refers to the spice level (one of the ingredients is Hot Honey), you can choose for it to be served hot or cold. I chose to have it served hot. I really enjoy spicy food and drinks. This tea was very spicy! If you enjoy spicy foods you should give this one a try. Otherwise, I recommend you pass on this one! As normal, the staff are very friendly, knowledgeable about what they sell, and polite. Always a pleasure to shop at The Book Rack.

Books were pricey but given the condition, special editions, etc ... it's understandable. Will definitely be a frequent customer!
