Then attitude is given to you over the phone. 2- Not clear communication: Cash or CA DL+Card (No other state DL) 3- Seems like they had a homeless guy hired. There was a bad weed odor coming out when the gate was opened. 4- He called me impatient because he was not picking up the call when calling multiple times. The only difference is that mine happened on a Sunday during the day, but the treatment and behavior were just as disrespectful and unacceptable. Just like everyone else, I couldn't find their real location because the address listed is wrong. The actual spot is hidden at 415 Old County Road in Belmont, and even knowing that, it was still hard to find. We called several times and the person in charge -- who I truly believe is the owner -- refused to answer until he felt like it. When he finally picked up, he talked to us with zero respect, used bad words, and had this sarcastic, degrading attitude that made us feel stupid and completely powerless. He even said, "nobody can do anything to me," and after seeing reviews from years ago, it's clear he has been doing this for a long time with no accountability. His excuse for towing my car was that there are "private property" and "no parking" signs -- but I live in this community. This is not the same as parking illegally outside a bank or a Safeway. WOW... words can not describe how in shock I currently am after my experience with express towing. My car was rightfully towed but I tried to talk to Steve and tell him that I have lupus and I was having a hard time walking up to the third floor he told me that oh well there is nothing in the car that said you had lupus. He then told me YOU WANT YOUR CAR BACK YOU PAY THE 563. I then asked for his name and told him that he was very rude. The address on google sends you to the wrong address so as soon as that happened I could already tell what kind of people own this business * if that's what you would call it... We came right when he was turning to the parking lot and just drove right past us as if he didn't see anyone. HOA towed our car and sent it to Express Towing. The man was so aggressive he wouldn't even let us check the car saying "it's my private business". We pay for your business to stay open, couldn't even have the human decency to let us check it over. The security at our complex accidentally sent it over, so we had to pay $500 upfront first. He lectured us like an idiot, was passive aggressive, and we thought he would do something to our vehicle because he was adamant we weren't able to go see it (it was 5 feet away). Absolutely a horrible man, horrible service, and should be put out of business for his disgusting, unprofessional, treatment. We are minority women too, and he acted as if we were criminals trying to break into his lot when we wanted to look over our car (a Volvo). We also had expensive snowboarding gear in it so we wanted to make sure it was not stolen, he would have to have compensated thousands of that's the case and if any damage will go to the police immediately, added on the way it was towed was not a flat bed; cheapskate. If I could put ZERO stars I would. First of all, the address is actually 415 OLD COUNTY ROAD located behind a small plaza. THERE ARE NO SIGNS OR SIGNIFICANCE THAT THEY ARE BACK THERE. When I called to ask where they were located the guy just repeated the address to me several times as if I wasn't staring at the plaza address. Once located, the guy stated they didn't take tap to pay and my sisters card wasn't working. I pulled up to my apartment to unload groceries. I drop them in the door, head back, and the tow truck is backing up behind my car. I wave then down and get in, he lifts my car while I'm in it. We are talking just a couple minutes here- not enough time for someone to call. He must have been patrolling the area and there's no way he didn't see me get my groceries out. I get out and this guy starts telling me how he's sick and tired of towing in this area and that he doesn't care how long I was there. Told me I should've pulled into someone else's spot- even though my apartment tells us that's not allowed. He told me to give him $145 in cash otherwise he's taking it. It's never a good experience when your car gets towed but they answered the phone quickly at least. They happened to do a random patrol of the apartment complex I rent in and towed my car right after I left it with my emergency lights on to quickly drop off groceries on my patio. They really are "express" because I came out a minute later to repark my car and it was gone. I was able to retrieve my car within the same hour. The total fee just to retrieve my car was $480, with a $60 fine for using a credit card. Does not matter how fast you show up to retrieve your car, fee will still count for an entire day. Chris (who pretended his name was Tom) is seriously the worst! I went upstairs to get clothes for my son that soiled his clothes. I was gone for not even 3 min and when I came down he was already towing my vehicle. According to him, he is the owner of the company. He has an extreme rude attitude. Has no respect for others. I had a couch delivered to Hillsdale Garden Apartments this weekend. My mover left his truck for literally two minutes by the time he came back to get the couch up his vehicle was lifted by the tow truck. The driver Nick hovers around the Hillsdale Garden apartments just waiting for someone to step out of their vehicle and lifts the vehicle. He uses a spotter that informs him when a vehicle pulls up to do a delivery, Nick shows up within 2 minutes. He uses his aggressive, bully behavior to demand, cash, and will also request money to his personal cash app account, which sounds like he may be pocketing the money. He says they will not accept credit card. He terrifies people into paying, many that live in these apartment complexes are extremely low income, on section 8 housing, mentally ill, and just basically struggling. After doing some investigation, I found out that he lifted cars of people that went up to their apartment for literally two minutes to drop off heavy grocery bags and one incident a lady was taking her sick child up to the apartment. He has done this to so many people, many too afraid to come forward due to this mans bully behavior. This business is very unethical. I attempted to contact the owner today, this very driver claimed to be the owner which he is not. He impersonated the owner saying that his name is Tom, I believe that this was Nick who does the TOWING around Hillsdale Garden Apartments. It is difficult to get a hold of the owner and I want to report to him that this driver is collecting payments on his personal cash app and there is proof of that. I have an appointment with several other residents to meet with management of Hillsdale gardens to report this unethical behavior, also the chief of police in San Mateo and also the district attorney regarding the unethical business practices of EXPRESS TOWING. This was NOT the Wednesday evening I was hoping for. Our apartment complex did NOT warn us before calling Express Towing. And it was NOT inexpensive to get it back. However. For a frustrating, unnecessary towing experience... this was as good as I could have hoped for. Express didn't break or bend anything on our car, they stayed past 5PM to let us come retrieve it, and they calmly answered all our questions. This is an illegal operation. They claim to have a contract with my apartment complex but actually don't. Our property manager confirmed this. When my pregnant wife asked for proof of the contract the employee Steve cursed at her and tried to intimidate us. Why the cops haven't shut this place down is beyond me. I live in an apartment complex that hires this tow company to remove cars that are parked in the red and blocking residence parking spots. This company claims to return calls within 10 minutes but I have left three messages and they do not call back. In the meantime I have a disability and I cannot access my parking spot and I'm forced to park far away and walk. Ridiculous! read more
