In addition, they also confirmed that they do not have a contract with this company to authorize them to do patrols and tow cars on the property on their own and they said this isn't the first time either! This driver indeed performed an illegal tow on a fire lane that is also not properly marked per municipal code of Burlingame. Technically not a fire lane. He also wrote on the invoice that apartment management authorized tow which is a lie since the main office was already closed. Good job buddy trying to get over on people! They towed my car in front of my own garage (drop off zone) after i parked to drop off kids for less than 30 mins and give me the reason of parking on fire lane (we are in a town house community). It's so false and i am going to get my money back in some way. The people are so rude and sick to deal with. Our car they towed has 3 of my kids' car seats so we can't even drive there to get the car with kids since no car seats. They wouldn't provide any help by picking me up to their garage only 2 blocks away. We had to borrow car seats from neighbors to go there. THIS IS NOT LOCATED AT 951 Old County Road!!! This is located BEHIND 415 Old County Road. I searched for a half an hour before I found someone else's (bless them) pictures they put of the location. I called the business repeatedly to find out the location and there was no answer. Finally someone answered after I found the (hidden) lot. Also, it's a towing company so I didn't have a great experience after I had to shell out nearly $500 to get my car back. But such is life. read more

ZERO STARS. i live in a townhome community and the security hired by the HOA that we pay for to keep us safe had my car towed (that's another issue)...by Express Towing. when you call them, they inform you that they can not reveal their location until you have a release form from the police station. ( i dont know why this is so because all the other tow companies had their names/addresses/phone numbers readily listed on forms at the police station except Express Towing. I found that odd.) also, if you come and pick up your car before 5pm, the fee is $265 instead of the $365 they charge after 5pm. also, an extra $100 is charged for everyday your car is there. so anyway, when i retrieved this release form, i called the towing company numerous times to find out the address. time and time again, i called...no pick up, just an answering machine that says they dont answer calls that are blocked and that they will call in 10 mins. i did NOT call from a blocked phone number. i called them a few times earlier that day to let them know i fully intended to be there before 5pm. i gave them my name/info, they knew it was me. i was trying desperately to make it before 5pm to save $100, so i looked them up on google maps. the address listed was located in san mateo on playa street and had the same exact phone number. i rushed over to san mateo, but there was no Express Towing there to be found. it was a residential area. sure enough, way way way after the promised 10 min call back, AFTER 5pm, they call me with a BLOCKED number and notified me that they never had/have a location in san mateo. they are located on spruce street in south san francisco, 2 minutes away from my own home!! if they had told me this sooner, i would have been at their location much earlier than 5pm!! finally, after stopping at numerous business places to ask the whereabouts of Express Towing, i found their location. by this time, it was much much later than 5pm. there was no signage, no address plate, nothing! i wasnt sure if i was even at the right place! it's completely inconspicuous. after a 20 minute wait, the person who is the owner/driver of the tow truck came to the gate in his truck. i was met with so much rudeness from this despicable person. i asked if he would waive the extra fee since i tried to make it before 5pm, and he loudly stated as he began to pull his truck away threatening to leave, that it was not his fault, it was mine, that i was irresponsible and that if i didnt want to pay the $365 right there that he would simply leave so that i could come back tomorrow and pay another extra $100 on top of the $365... i was completely shocked by his demeanor. i was forced to pay the $365 instead of the $225 ($40 off if you pay cash) i would have if it weren't for their purposefully not answering my phone calls!! i received my receipt which had their address listed as being in BELMONT (so misleading). why are they being so deceptive about their location??! this business WILL SCAM YOU. they are unscrupulous, devious and fraudulent. they will find every way for you not to pick up your car on time so that you will be charged fees on top of extra fees. the situation i have been put in is UNJUST and it makes me SICK TO MY STOMACH. i don't know why this business is still in operation. consumer & governmental affairs bureau, please shut this guy down! the owner is a CROOK! read more

Well they'll be there in 5min to tow your car away, but they keep you waiting 30 min to pick it up. They're not all bad though, at least they charge $250 for a 3 mile tow! A small price to pay for the opportunity to demonstrate such self control and acceptance. read more

March 1, 2008 Our apartment complex uses Express Towing for cars that park without permit. By mistake they took mine, and a couple of hours later I was contacting them to go get it back. They were awful on the phone, but we agreed on a time to meet. Short story long, they had me waiting for over 1 hour, they wouldn't pick up the phone, and they only returned my calls after I told them I would not pay extra because THEY didn't show up. When the man returned that call he was angry, he yelled at me over the phone, and said I had to wait. It took them 1hr 13min to do 5 blocks, to come open a gate. Ah! and there's never a supervisor available to take complaints, the person named Dave is never there, and doesn't return messages. If I could, they would get minus 10 stars for awful service. Update March 12: I am still trying to talk to the supervisor. He simply does not return my calls (I left phone and name several times). Will keep trying... Update June 12: Can you believe I can't get a hold of a supervisor? Do I need to say more about these people? read more

It's unfortunate about all the negative reviews! The reality of it is GETTING YOUR CAR TOWED SUCKS and really how can you give a towing company positive reviews when it's their job to tow cars away especially because 'YOU' parked YOUR vehicle in a place you weren't supposed to and someone called them to move it. Express Towing has helped me out a few times: One time I needed to have my car towed from a storage unit (hadn't been driven in years) and when I called around to find a tow company with a flat-bed to tow me, Express Towing was the first to offer immediate service at a very reasonable rate. Another time, a buddy visiting me from another country, borrowed my car for sight-seeing and ran out of fuel on an on-ramp in the middle of commute time. I had him call Express Towing who was there for him within 25 minutes with fuel enough to get him to gas station. And, over the years I have referred others to Express Towing with no negative feedback, just appreciation for the help. I do understand now that they actually mostly specialize in assisting private property's with tow-aways (hence most of the negative posts I see on here), so I am not sure how often they help everyday people. I just know the my experiences were not bad at all...they did the job I needed. Towing is obviously not glamorous by any means and am pretty sure the drivers don't make too many friends, but a job is a job, and if you are dumb enough to park your vehicle in an area you aren't supposed to...then be pissed at yourself not the tow driver. I came onto Yelp to post some reviews tonight and came upon Express Towing's page and thought I should speak of my experiences and can only reiterate that I have only good experience from this company. read more

I left a note on the windshield explaining the conversations I was having with the association management about getting a parking permit. As a renter they were waiting on the owner to sign off. I just moved to California from Florida yesterday and my 2cars were towed away yesterday night because the parking situation was still up in the air with the apartment people. The person that answered the phone has no respect and threatened me by saying "we have your cars, not the other way around." For a SERVICE oriented company, they offer extremely rude and condescending customer service. The guy said "I will see you face to face in the lot asshole so you can learn to put respect on my name." This towing company is the most obnoxious towing company (which is saying a lot considering towing is a bad business to begin with). My car was towed from my own garage. It was then quite a large struggle to get my car back. Their hours are horrible and charge extra if you cannot pick up your car within a short window of time...hello ever heard of people who have real jobs during the day?? So finally after arranging to have a friend go to the company and pay so I would not get charged extra (although the fee they charged me was outrageous). Then after work I went with the friend to the towing lot to get my car to find out that there was a crow bar left in my window. After a busy weekend I finally had a second to call them and complain and ask why I had found my car that way. They told me that it was not one of their workers and that someone must have tried to break in --- UM EXCUSE ME! my car was on their lot and someone tried to break in! They then told me that they would not reimburse me for the damage it did to my door frame because I called a few days after it happened. All you people who wrote negative reviews are MORONS!! 1st, if your car was towed, you parked illegally. Your HOA or apartment complex has signs posted at every entrance that state this. A lot of you live in complexes that require a parking permit. USE IT!! 2nd, as for your claims of the Security Officers getting "Kick Backs" from Express Towing, those allegations are FALSE. i have been managing apartments for 15+ years now and i have been using express towing for over 10 of those years. i keep reading these complaints and listening to tenants b!tch about being towed playing the "IM A VICTIM!" card. your not a victim you park in a unauthorized location you will be towed. as a complex manager i know what the fines are to the managment company and hoa's if towing is not enforced and a fire truck needs to get through the location where you carelessly left your car. its alot more than 365.00. if you park in a spot reserved for hadicapped drivers we can be sued for not being handi-capped accessible , granted it happens a few times and the tenant documents the incidences of the managment not having the vehicle removed so they can park in the spot reserved for them. think about it if you dont pay your pg&e bill is it the workers fault that came out and shut off your power? We were towed involutarily from our apartment premises. Parked in a fire zone do my daughter could take our parking space for Foster City July 4th event. I admit it was a dumb thing to do, though I did leave a note on the windshield with my phone number explaining our situation (there was no street parking after noon that day), which the driver ignored. It was $400 to get the car out of hock the next morning for a service that was probably worth 1/10 of that. I feel raped. Certainly these rates would have been competitive if I had a choice. This was a case of GREED, knowing they had me bent over and with no options. BASTARDS. There needs to be some regulation on this industry to prevent this type of highway robbery.
