(Hubby has a hard time when it comes to parallel parking. Being from the Bay Area, that's a way of life for us!) Checked out the following stores: Lush, the Lego store, Macy's, Dillard's, Nordstrom Rack, & Rack Room Shoes. It is a walking-centered shopping center, but some drivers are not letting peds walk in the designated crosswalks. Shame. (In Cali, if you don't give right of way to the peds, you get a ticket!) The shade is nice. So it wasn't so bad. We definitely got a lot of steps in. We also walked to the water feature, that we remember our son being obssessed with, when he was a wee one.

The information booth is well positioned and generally helpful, although I was surprised they couldn't direct me to something as simple as a fresh green drink. I later found what I was looking for at True Food Kitchen, which seems like a fairly obvious recommendation in a center like this. My one real issue is the sheer size of the property. It's expansive... more of a campus than a traditional shopping center. What starts off as a pleasant stroll can quickly turn into a long trek, especially if you're not prepared. Comfortable shoes are not optional here. By the end of it, I found myself more tired than I expected. It's a beautiful place, but the scale can work against you if you're trying to cover a lot of ground in one visit.

Over the last few years, we've made our way through nearly everything the resort has to offer: the Rouge Room, T-Bones, Lotus of Siam, Blue Ribbon Sushi, Lucky Penny, and Regal Cinemas. This trip, we treated ourselves to massages at the spa and arrived an hour early to enjoy the facilities. After checking in at the front desk, you're escorted to the gender-specific side, where first-timers receive a quick tour. You're given a locker, robe, and sandals. The women's and men's areas each feature a wet sauna, dry sauna, spa pool, cool-down pool, and rain showers, plus a comfortable waiting lounge. The co-ed side includes a yoga studio and a beautiful outdoor saltwater pool with plenty of loungers, tables, and cabanas. You can order food and have it brought right to your spot poolside. What I love most about Red Rock is that it truly has everything you could want--dining, entertainment, shopping, and relaxation--all in one beautiful resort. After almost 20 minutes, I gave up and was about to walk to the bar myself when I noticed Alicia taking an order behind our chairs, so I asked if that was her section. She said yes and told us she'd be with us shortly. Another 15 minutes passed... and nothing. When she finally came by, she seemed rushed, asked if we were ready to order, and there was zero introduction, no friendliness, no menu suggestions, nothing that made us feel welcomed. I actually had to get her name off the check because that was somehow the one thing she managed to come back quickly for multiple times. The service here is honestly terrible. I work in the industry myself, so I understand busy days and hard work, but this wasn't that. I watched guests literally chasing down servers all day. The staff here acts like customers are inconveniencing them by wanting service. No personality, no attentiveness, no effort to create an enjoyable experience. It's confusing because good pool service is exactly how you make money in this industry. At this point, I think I'll spend my money at another pool in Vegas where guests actually feel welcomed.

Also, a dimmer in my kitchen was not turning on the kitchen lighting. I went to a lighting specialty store off of Stephanie St and bought a brushed nickel fixture with six individual fully-adjustable lights. Three are pointed at the west wall where poster-size pictures of Zion National are mounted. The other three shine straight on to the north wall which gives me light coverage across the room for previously under-performing lighting. In wiring the switches, Progressive Lighting somehow fixed the problem dimmer in the kitchen. Great! I'll not ask questions. Nothing to ask. They corrected my previous wiring work. Jose Alfaro, the owner, and two laborers Alfonso and Alfredo, got it done in 2 hours. Alfonso laughed at me when I commented the kitchen dimmers made the room look romantic. I didn't provide any details.

Called up and scheduled an appointment with Jon. Upon his arrival we just knew things were about to trend in the right direction. He has such an incredible personality, is patient and overall, has a down to earth demeanor that is a RARITY (and refreshing to see) in this city. After attempting to "kick" the starter and run diagnostics on the battery, it became evident that both needed to be replaced. The battery was only a few months old, but as is the case sometimes, there is a chance you might end up with a dud. Based on Jon's suggestion, we managed to get a replacement from the nearby auto parts store, and within a couple days, the starter replacement arrived, and Jon not only installed it but even helped change the oil in my mom's car as well and answer some of her questions and concerns.
