On 7/9/26 same plumber came out hired by kitchen express who did the original plumbing and stated the piping in the wall was flimsy and he needed to make a support being. My new cabinets have a support being makeshift, which I don't believe is acceptable. read more

Express Kitchens has very nice sales people (Chris) excellent carpenters (Cyril), but they do not care after they make the sale I bought cabinets from them- expensive cabinets as it was for my home and not a rental location. And within a month the cabinet started to bow- started to bend. They sent a carpenter back out. He noticed it immediately that it was a manufacturer defect and was going to expedite the situation.. about two months (i'm told the owner gets the Cabinets from India. A family owned business ) later the replacement doors came in and they changed out drawers and doors! Here we are one year later and more are bending and bowing and Express Kitchens will not return my calls. Victor Smith a very rude robotic messenger, has a pre-programmed message that he keeps repeating over and over When I was told directly because the problem was spotted back then and it's a manufacturer defect. Avoid Express Kitchens (also known as New Direct Cabinets) at all costs--unless you enjoy paying for upgrades you'll never receive. After ordering new kitchen cabinets, the wrong interior materials were shipped not once, not twice, but three times. Five months later, I finally gave up on the radical idea of getting what I paid for. They then graciously acted as though they were doing me a favor by refunding less than half of the upgrade cost. After weeks of unanswered emails and ignored phone calls to their so-called "customer service" department, a supervisor informed me it would take at least two more weeks to receive the refund they had already promised. Apparently, five months wasn't quite long enough. With enough complaining, they were able to refund my credit card (which I was initially told could not be done). This company came recommended by someone who used them years ago, but I've since learned they were sold and are under new management--an explanation that neatly aligns with how far things have gone downhill. Expect circular conversations, chronic avoidance, and zero accountability from customer service if you choose to work with this poorly run operation. You've been warned. read more

An update of my last negative review: Still do not recommen. The company asked that we take down our negative review because it affects their pay. I told them if we can get our counters with no issues and our missing item delivered with no issues I would consider it. But weeks later, we still have no counters because they cannot figure out how to measure for our countertops. It's not a complicated kitchen. Also we were supposed to have a delivery today for missing parts and nobody ever showed up. So I had to call to find out where they were because I waited around all morning and I was told that the truck is delayed and it's going to be a few more hours. Nobody ever called to tell us this... so again it all comes down to the fact that this company has zero accountability. Edited again to add: they did not deliver in the delivery window and did not bother to call. When I called them they say "oh we called your husband and told him" -- that was a lie. Finally received the missing parts that I waited around all day for and guess what?? ITS. NOT. CORRECT. Zero respect for their customers time, zero respect for the significant amount of money that we paid in full for, and still zero accountability. read more

Terrible experience!! I specifically asked my salesperson if the cabinets were all wood construction. She ssured me they were, absolutely. When I received them I discovered that the doors were MDF, basically painted cardboard!! Also the design layout was flawed. Customer service is basically non existent as they refused to address my complaint. After informing the salesperson about the doors she was surprised and stated that she was told they were all wood in training and had no idea what MDF was !!! Personally oversaw the installation with site visits and follow up phone calls even after he made the sale. Does not stand by their products. Bought appliances and cabinets for two kitchens. Two of the cabinets were damaged and it was very obvious that it was from the manufacturer. I made the mistake of not opening the boxes within 30 days. They wouldn't take the return or exchange. Don't do business with these crooks! Extremely disappointed in express kitchens. I had a kitchen installed earlier this year. The faucet was installed February 16, 2022, by July 2022 the handle had snapped. Extremely poor workmanship. When I called to request a refund because I certainly did not want to get a piece of crap for a faucet again, I was told by the customer service representative that they would not refund my money. This company doesn't deserve any stars but in order to post my review I had to Choose one. RUN the other way while you can. They send the wrong crew to complete the job and then when they try to fix the horrible job they work past 9 pm in your home. They ruined our sink twice. The first time they replaced it the second they said 2 bad. They couldn't even fill the holes in the trim board. This was after they had to take it down from original installer because it was upside down. It took about 9 months to complete a very small kitchen. See attached pictures of there finished job that we demanded replacement on. Some were replaced and others were were told that they are done. In response to Express kitchens, ALL the bumpers used are this color, even the ones on the opposite side of the kitchen that are no where near heat or cooking. These cabinets get cleaned on a weekly basis and what is happening to them is clearly from heat. You can make as many EXCUSES as you want but these cabinets SHOULD NOT be in a kitchen. They changed my scheduling three times, brought the wrong sized cabinet and I am still waiting --- three weeks later for doors to that cabinet. The salesperson at the Southington Store promised that I would have a custom pantry that would fit my refrigerator and didn't order the shelves for one side of the refrigerator. They installed my kitchen 13 days ago and knobs, scratches, crooked doors and a floppy spice rack plus the cabinet side panels still need to be completed. A glass door and white shelves are "in order". They charged my credit card but have no date as to when they will be back to finish the job. I also paid for removal of all material including the ton of cardboard. A lot of the cardboard is still in my garage. The advertised price is NOT the normal total of your kitchen. I paid much more. The cabinets are not as deep as my old cabinets so dishes, glassware and pots and pans have less space. The most annoying is the stove now sticks out 2 inches from the cabinets and looks awkward. read more

Very non responsive. I walked into the Main St location in Hartford to get a countertop. I had the size and kwon what I wanted. But the Rep told me I had to go home and get photos of my existing countertop. I did this sent it in the next morning and what? 4 days later still nothing, I email him... nothing. I call him, he said he will get me the quote he already wrote up by the end of the day. at 5:07pm I get the quote that I already had. I emailed him back and said ok lets pay for this and get it ordered! NO nothing its been over a week now and nothing. We purchased our kitchen from express but had our contractor install. Upon installation , discovered they sent the wrong size cabinet. You would think it would have been simple enough to just exchange it for the one we were supposed to be sent,right? Of course not. We went to Hartford to return our cabinet that THEY sent that was wrong and picked up the correct cabinet that I had to pay for. When we arrived and walked in we were greeted by someone at the desk and told to go up the stairs to customer service. We waited 10 mins for anyone to even acknowledge us. The person from the desk came upstairs to make sure we were being helped.and thats when someone acknowledged us. Customer service thereSUCKS! So we are told to go to the back and return our cabinet and get the new one. We go back there, they take the cabinet and give us the new one. Said we had to pay a 30% restocking fee which is bs if you ask me but then they said since our contractor hung it up we cannot return it. After I had spent many phone calls back and forth being told I would get a refund minus the 30%. We left the original cabinet there and were supposed to be called by management to remedy the problem.....Over a month went by and numerous voice mails left and 2 emails sent to the Southington office I finally received a call. She said we cannot give you a refund. At this point I had,had enough of their crap and I said fine I will come get my cabinet and she said ok let me make sure we still have it.... WHAT?!? And she would call back and never did. I will be going there to pick up MY cabinet that I paid for in the next couple of days and hope it's there. Also, a couple of the faces of our drawers came off that we had to reattach and personally I don't think it was worth what we paid for. Here is my last email to the management of Express Kitchens. It says it all. Do not do business with this company. Express Kitchens sent (again) the wrong rear support brackets. I have tried for now more than six months to secure the correct brackets from your company. I have physically met with your representatives on Weston Street. I have given them a sample of the broken brackets. I have brought the tracks to your representatives. I have been promised delivery dates that have never been met. Emails from me are not responded to. Phone calls are not returned. Guarantees have not been honored. On a scale of 1-10 your organization level of customer service is so inept as to warrant a rating of zero (0). It is time for me to go in a different direction to resolve the issue. read more

It started with a lot of promises, don't worry Misses Brown, you're are going to be satisfied. Unfortunately I paid up front for new kitchen cabinets and sink. First they delivered the wrong kind of sink, a bottom install, after it was already cut out for a sink that goes on top of counter top. I waited around 6 weeks with plenty of phone calls in between for the sink to be delivered. Not to mention that the Lady from customer service was very rude to me, I'm 78 years old and I do have a bit of a foreign accent, does not mean i shouldn't be treated with respect and courtesy. When the sink arrived, the hole that was cut in counter top before, for the wrong sink (bottom install) was to small to install the right sink. So i ended having to install the bottom sink as a top counter sink, which shouldn't be the case with such a supposedly professional company. The trim for the top of cabinets wasn't installed or even delivered. As well as a special cabinet door that never even made it here. Every time I called to ask about it, there was a different excuse, including that they send the door back because they didn't like the way it looked. There were appointments that weren't kept, i waited at home and did not even get a phone call. When I called the lady from customer service, she said that they called and rescheduled, but that did not happen. After everything was bad done, I noticed a crack on counter top. I send pictures and just wanted it fixed, not even replaced, to tell the truth I was just done and tired of the back and forth. Owner or the main guy from Boston Rd., that I made original purchase with, told me to send him pictures per E-mail. I did send him plenty of pictures, but never received any response. This company employs some of the dumbest people you can imagine. I had them do my kitchen in 2019. In 2020 one of the hinges connecting the doors of my lazy Susan breaks so I call them to replace the hinge. They don't have the hinges so they order from the distributor. They mail me a hinge that doesn't fit the pre-drilled holes. It has taken two months and I still don't have a correct hinge. They emailed me a photo of a hinge and want me to tell them if it looks correct. Do I look like a hinge expert? I've have multiple problems with this company and I would not recommend them. It is the closest thing to perfection that is humanly possible! In the past, I have had tradesmen such as carpenters, plumbers and electricians barely due an acceptable job. My fiancé and I are in the final stages of completing a very extensive renovation on a lake home. One Saturday, a couple of months ago we walked into the Southington showroom on a whim to see what you offered In countertops. Since my brother-in-law had just had a complete kitchen done by you and was thoroughly happy, we took a chance. I have to say the tv commercials kind of deterred us from going in. However we were promptly greeted by your sales representative Deb and given ample time to look around. Upon finishing our exploration, we had several questions. Deb was more than willing to answer our questions and offered several great ideas. I also want to mention this was at the very end of the business day. She never once tried to rush us out, even though she had things to do as well. So we decided to move forward with her quoted offer, which incidentally was substantially less than our lowest quote by all other vendors. Bottom line, the project moved forward and the entire process from quote to template, to installation was probably the easiest part of our extensive project. I would highly recommend anyone give Express Kitchens a chance. Their professional and caring attitude made this portion of our project very pleasant. Steer clear of this place! They are the most unprofessional outfit I've every experienced. We ordered our cabinets (and stupidly paid in full at the time of ordering them) - HUGE MISTAKE!!!! Our experience has been horrible from day one. The "designer" (and I use that term very loosely) sat with us for two hours and drew up our design. He forgot to save the drawing and something happened to his computer. He had to redraw the entire thing! We sat there for another hour to make sure he remembered to add everything we asked for (glass doors, spice rack, etc.) Seemed like we had it all set and we felt confident to have our contractor come up the next week with the payment and the exact measurements. The following week he did just that. They determined that the wall cabinets had to be reduced from 36 to 33 inches, which meant he had to redraw all over again. Unfortunately, this time he didn't bother making sure that all of the items we asked for got incorporated into the new design. This is NOT rocket science people!!! We chose the Mero cabinets, because of the lower price point, but mostly because the "designer/salesman" assured us that those cabinets are built here (by Express Kitchens) and so they can be delivered within a couple of days. We thought....Great! WRONG!!!! It's been 5 weeks and we are still waiting for some of our cabinets. Oh don't get me wrong....they had some available for our contractor to pick up, but not all of them. And, out of the ones they did provide us: one (the tall pantry unit) was cracked; one was supposed to be a spice drawer, but was a plain base cabinet instead; another two were supposed to have glass doors, they didn't. Also, DO NOT BUY THE MERO CABINETS!!!!!! They are the cheapest things ever made. We are completely regretting going with those (not to mention going with Express Kitchens, in general). I think the worst thing of all throughout this whole experience, has been their lack of customer service and transparency. They simply don't care about the customer. I understand that our kitchen project isn't one of their bigger accounts, but all the more reason it shouldn't be too difficult to get it right. Again....not rocket science. Honestly, we toyed with the idea of having our carpenter uninstall the cabinets that we actually got, return them and demand a refund. At this point, we'd almost rather order from Home Depot and wait the five weeks. At least we have confidence that we'll get what we asked for and the quality won't be sub-par. So i waited to write this review because i wanted my sons kitchen cabinets to be completed finally after 7 months and eight times of them coming to the house they were right..TERRIBLE AND WORST EXPERIENCE EVER... They were delivered in May wrong cabinet design,(facing) it took them 7 months NOW DECEMBER, with five weeks in between each time because they were their custom design. $$$$ I COULD see first time maybe even 2 times but by the 7th time how the hell does that happen.Ill tell you (very incompetent workers)..Extremely poor customer service. The women Jenna that i had been dealing with would never call back. When i finally caught her after leaving numerous not so nice messages she returned my call. Assuring me over and over that the problem was taken care of. SO YOU GET A TEXT MESSAGE before installer comes you take the time off from work (EVERY TIME) an they don't show and no common courtesy PHONE CALL.. I HAD TO CALL THEM FOR THEM TO TELL ME ONCE AGAIN THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE DESIGN. So by the 6th time when the installer showed up an again they were wrong design you can imagine how frustrated i am i called once again while the installer is there and I'm pretty much holding him hostage so i can get the matter resolved. I call Jenna once again, they tell me she is in the building and knows I'm on the phone, AFTER 45 minutes of me holding on the receptionist comes on and tell me Jenna stepped into a meeting who the hell does that...Now I'm infuriated tell them to pull her out of meeting i wait another 30 mins for the receptionest to come back an ask if their employee was still there and may SHE speak with him, 2 seconds later ITS Jenna speaking, trying to go around speaking to me, THAT was not going to happen...Finally all done with her, i move on to the next person in charge and after the 8th time. They arrived at the wrong address my house not my sons on new years eve Mind you the night before at 4:45 when i got the text with the wrong address i immediately called to correct the address and check order to be absolutely sure it was correct.i get a women who tells ME I'm calling late she is getting ready to go home she will see what she can do. THANK GOD ITS FINALY OVER.... They did however, have no problem taking my money! When I tried to express my dissatisfaction, my phone calls went unanswered. This place is an absolute joke. I went there today with my mother in law to price out some cabinets. We walked into the store and walked around (there was VERY little to look at- no mock kitchens or any nice displays) for nearly 20 minutes on our own before someone even acknowledged us. The person who did beckoned from behind some glass for us to come over to her. She was rude, did not ever smile, and did not seem knowledgeable about anything at all. She seemed very inconvenienced by having to actually help customers! She asked us what kind of finish we wanted on the cabinets...and named two types. Obviously anyone walking in off the street is not going to know the difference between them. She could barely explain what the difference was and did not seem confident in her answer that one was more expensive than the other. Finally another woman came to assist who was friendlier but who did not introduce herself or ask our names. She returned with a quote of above $1,000 for two bottom cabinets and a lazy Susan, with no countertop. LOL.....we left laughing at the whole experience and went to Home Depot on the way home. For the same thing we will spend less than $500 at Home Depot and get better customer service. Don't bother with this place it is a sad excuse for a storefront. read more

Waited another 6 weeks for them to resolve the issues or so I thought they would. They ended up sending someone to "fix" everything but never gave them the replacement parts needed or even told them what the issues were.
