The cabinets do not last. Not even installed for 6 months, paint is peeling and seams are splitting. We called and they did send new pieces, but it cost $46.00 to have it shipped. It seemed the counter top was to narrow. We had to add a piece to the back of the counter,. Otherwise it was almost flush with the cabinets. There are only two adults, no children, no pets. We hired Express Kitchens (I reside in Southeastern CT and went to the New London store) to install new cabinets, a double sink, a new kitchen faucet, and countertops. The job was done during April/May 2021. The cabinets, sinks, and countertops are very nice. We realized however, that the sink racks (on display in the showroom) were never provided. During August I contacted our sales rep and asked about the racks. I was told that they were never included in the order (?) and that I would have to pay for them. Fine. I gave my credit card number and placed the order. By mid-October they still hadn't arrived and I was then told that it would be another 10 weeks before they would be delivered. I cancelled the order. It gets worse. A week ago, (mid-October) the faucet handle came off in my hand. Clearly we were dealing with a defect. I contacted the sales representative. A day later, I heard back and was told that I personally had to take the defective unit all the way to Hartford. They would then provide me with a replacement at no additional cost. So, I was told that I had to hire a plumber to remove the old unit, drive 45-plus minutes to Hartford, pick up a new unit, drive back to Southeastern CT, and then hire a second plumber to return to my house and install the new unit. I was sold a defective faucet and was then expected to incur the cost of 2 plumbing jobs as well as the personal travel time involved. I suggested that they hire a plumber who could make one trip to my house, install the new faucet, and return the defective one, but they would not agree. I also proposed that they provide me with a refund so that I could purchase a new faucet and hire a plumber at my expense. Again, this was not acceptable to them. Where on the planet is this considered to be acceptable customer service???? To anyone considering Express Kitchens, keep on driving to Lowe's or Home Depot. read more

I have sat back and waited almost 3 months before writing this review. I cannot begin to explain how horrible our experience was with this company. We went to the Orange store and met Larry. A very nice gentleman who seemed to sincerely want to do a good job for us. We set up a date and time for someone to come out and measure the kitchen so we could get started. This is where it starts.... We received a text message from a third party caller confirming the time and date for the appointment. It was not the time and date we had agreed on. I called Larry at the store and he confirmed that the time and date in the computer was incorrect but that he would come out personally and do the measurements. A minor glitch but seemed to be handled appropriately. Larry came out and did the measurements. We made an appointment to come back into the store and he would have the proposed drawings ready for our review and we could discuss product and pricing. The drawings seemed acceptable (Neither my wife or I are designers and in hindsight there were some pretty glaring errors) Larry was quick to recommend a product that he was very excited about because it was all made in America. We agreed and the order was placed. Here is where the buyer needs to be aware. CHECK THE QUALITY OF THE CABINET BEFORE ORDERING!!!! These cabinets were of very poor quality. No glue, staples and poorly constructed. The cabinets arrived on the date they said they would arrive. It should be noted that I ripped out the entire old kitchen two days prior so that the new ones could be installed promptly. I was going to do the install and had already moved all the electrical and plumbing that would be necessary. The problem was the corner lazy suzan cabinet that needs to be the FIRST cabinet on the bottom to be installed was not included in the order. They said it did not make it on the truck but that it would be delivered on Monday. No worries..I was planning on doing the install on Tuesday and had already secured (paid) a helper for that day. On Monday the cabinet did indeed arrive....with the face frame broken down both sides. I called my project manager (Carlena) and explained the problem. She told me to open all the boxes and inspect. Of the 14 cabinets I ordered..9 had to be returned for broken components, staples sticking out, more cracked face frames, doors on crooked, poorly functioning hardware, etc.... After a number of days they finally came and picked up the defective cabinets and we waited another two weeks for the delivery. Sent half of those back for the same issues. The second lazy suzan cabinet finally arrives to be more smashed than the first one!! Back it goes. Finally get enough serviceable cabinets to hand the uppers. Gouged doors and poor functioning hardware but these are supposedly going to be replaced at some point. Customer service has been horrible. Phone calls too numerous to count are either not returned or told I would be called back in an hour only to wait until the next day. One supervisor actually answered the phone and said " Mr..... I am on another call just let me put you on hold for a moment and I will be right with you." He never picked the phone up again and went home for the weekend! After weeks and weeks I finally get in touch with Karen Roy... area manager maybe... she seems like she is going to be helpful. Not so much. This is probably a good time to mention that they offered to supply us with a 5ft piece of countertop with a sink in it so at least we didn't have to wash our dishes in the bath tub. The sink arrives, I hook it up and turn on the water. Water comes pouring out of the bottom of it. They supplied us with a sink that had a diverter valve but nothing to hook up to it so the water just poured out the bottom. I had to go out and buy a new faucet to place in the sink! They agree that due to all of the inconvenience and hassle that they will install the lower cabinets free of charge. One hour after the scheduled time for them to start the installation I receive a phone call that once again the lazy susan is smashed and the cabinets cannot be installed. Their solution was to "order two more and maybe one will show up ok". After more discussion Karen agreed to allow us to go back to the store, pick a different product and they would adjust the price to make it work. We went to the store picked a different product with Larry and he submitted it. A few days later we received a call that they would not honor their offer and that we would have to pay the difference for the new product. We are now 2 months with no kitchen. We pulled the plug on the whole project. We were able to get our money back and they sent someone to come and remove the cabinets. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. We have since gone with a different company with a real kitchen designer, a great product and fantastic service...for the same price or LESS than these jokers. AVOID AT ALL COST read more

Project manager Adam worked with me to design my kitchen add on project, going through measurements and options very carefully, and was able to provide me the cabinets needed at a much more reasonable price point than some other showrooms I went to. Had a small issue with one cabinet upon delivery, and the company went above and beyond what I expected to resolve the issue. THEN it took an additional 2 months to get the RIGHT cabinet. Now my cabinets are up and one cabinet is a shade off. I ordered an espresso set which is a very dark brown and they flat out gave me a black one. Refused to give me any sort of credit. While the cabinets and counter top themselves (once the right size) were great they left a bad taste. The measurer did not measure correctly, the designer sold us a design that would hold a larger fridge an when the installer came he looked and in less than a minute told us of the issues. It was only his knowledge that allowed us to get a shorter cabinet to make it work. Multiple cabinet doors in wrong, measured the counter top wrong - did not believe the installer and we had to wait for the countertop. Their joke of a fix was a 60 inch loaner. That is 30 inches of a sink (one that was awful and had broken parts and lots of dings and scratches) and 15 inches on each side. I asked the to come prep a meal with that. They were supposed to bring in plywood for a temporary extra surface but they forgot. They forgot to have the plumber here first thing in the morning and the poor installer (who was the only bright spot) had to wait. Had a shit wait for the new counter as they claimed it was custom (we only ordered what was in stock in Hartford for no delays) and they thought waiting weeks was acceptable. never offered a work around until I suggested another counter top and they then mentioned the different edge. Imagine they forgot to mention it. Came the second time and it was again wrong. Tony had to make it fit (you would never know looking at it) but once again they DO NOT LISTEN to their installer/carpenter who really is in the thick of each job. The project manager never checks on the site - the customer service rep (who claimed she was the project manager) is basically only a scheduler - nothing else - she was of o help, When it was complete - thanks only to the installer/carpenter - Tony - the plumber comes, 2 of them, but one only sits on their phone - which is a waste - they do not take the loaner crap sink (did not realize before they left) and they also left a mess, Tony was meticulous (he is a subcontractor) but the plumber left a huge mess under the sink. We had to wait for the sink to be picked up (took quite a few days). We are still waiting on our refund on the wrong cabinet and that is a joke. They are really messed up and need to learn about customer service, hiring qualified measurers and designers who don't sell a wrong design based off the wrong measurements. They need to teach their staff to listen to those subs who are in the field doing the work and dealing with the crap they get. They also missed items and he had to wait for them to come in. Poor guy lost a lot of time with all the delays. If you decide to go with them, change the contract and withhold money until completion. Keep good records and don't let up - they hope you will just drop it - but they have not heard the last of me and Consumer Protection this week if I dont get my refund which has been promised to e - them told soon, then said it is in the mail and then told it is in process. They lie. Measure yourself or hire someone who can measure. Buy the cabinets from them and get them off the job. Thank goodness the kitchen looks good - THANKS TONY. To those at Express Kitchen, follow up with what you say - learn to listen and follow through - and stop lying - it is caught in emails. I wanted to update my review. The final cabinet was installed on Wednesday. My kitchen is lovely! My cabinets are lovely (little incident with frog tape, but I think we're okay). The reason I complained on Yelp: not being heard by management and staff; feeling like I was being put off until they supplied the cabinet on their terms (which was way too long to wait for just one cabinet); poor project management. I like the concept of their service. Believe it or not, I would use them again if these issues were rectified. We contracted with Express Kitchens on May.24th, 2020. The kitchen island was ordered with 4 x decorative panels for the ends. Kitchen is installed with the exception of the 4 panels we paid for. We find out last week that they "forgot to order" the panels for the project. It is now September 2nd and they still have not delivered them and we are now told we must wait almost another 2 months before they come in! If you decide to contract with Express Kitchens, be smart and hold-back at least 25% of the cost so they do not ignore you as they are doing to us. I wish I had read the previous review before we bought our cabinets. 1. Two warped cabinets 2. They sent us a pantry that was too big for the space. When we called them to tell them they sent us an 84" pantry for a space that's 83" they didn't take responsibility. They measured the kitchen! They said we could either return the pantry for a refund or they'd could trim the bottom for an additional fee!! 3. The draw next near the dishwasher won't open unless you open the dishwasher first. Again they're measurements and design! 4. The rest of the complaints about the cabinets are small things; like putting the little sticker things in the wrong place so you can see them when the doors are shut. Some of the drawers not as sturdy as should be...a few tiny scrapes. Our contractors were GREAT and were able to resolve most of our issues. I guess the old adage of "you get what you pay for" is true. Cabinet material is decent quality being all plywood box construction but that seems to be where the value ends. Workmanship is subpar at best. Cabinets are put together with brackets and screws only...not a drop of glue in any joint. Anyone worth their weight in woodworking will tell you the strongest way to bond wood is with glue. Finish on the cabinets is poor. We bought Shaker style white cabinets. Out of a total of 18 doors, 6 had to be replaced immediately upon install due to blemishes in the finish. 2 of 7 drawer fronts also had to be replaced. Microwave built-in cabinet was completely wrong and had to be rebuilt. Final version is less than expected. Original install was poorly done and installer had to spend a full 8 hours fixing the issues. It has been 6 weeks now and still waiting in the installation of the granite. In my honest opinion, and as a person who owns three properties and has done a fair amount of remodeling myself, I would NOT recommend using this company unless you have a cheap rental property or you are flipping a house and don't care what you leave for the next person. Anyone who plans on spending any time in their kitchen should think twice. Don't be fooled by the "A+" rating at BBB. That is based solely on the number of actual complaints that are filed requesting some solution from the company and how they handled those complaints. It completely ignores the fact that 10 of the 15 reviews posted about the company are NEGATIVE! read more

This place is a scam that deserves -0 stars. I reported them to the better business bureau for the office in newington. They claim 1-2 day installation. It took over 4 days and they did a hack job!! Things went wrong from the beginning. The measurements were ALL wrong, parts not ordered or missing or the wrong parts ordered. Communication between the store and the contractors is basically null. Cabinets did not match, installed crooked, unprofessional contractors who made cuts crooked for sink to be placed in counter. Had to hire a friend and pay him to install a sink that took 5 hours to make work with the hole they made!! Russ didn't know what was going on more than half the time. They make you pay for it ALL upfront which is a HUGE warning sign. BAD QUALITY, BAD SERVICE. Nothing but a hassle. One of the worst experiences I ever had!!! read more

THIS IS A HORRIBLE COMPANY!!!!!!! Do not use this company. We purchased our cabinets in November of 2016 because we were promised that the cabinets would be in before Christmas so that we can have them installed. Because Express Kitchens installation prices were outrages and they apparently were price gouging we decided to have a contractor install them. Not only did they not have the cabinets ready but they told us that 2 of the cabinets wouldn't come in until January 30th. When we complained they called us and said they would make the 2 cabinets and have them there in time. After we received the cabinets with only a little time before Christmas we needed to rush to install them. we noticed that some of the cabinets were broken so we sent them back to have them replaced. After the cabinets were installed we started to notice manufacturing defects some of the shelves didn't fit or were off because the holes were drilled wrong the face of the cabinets were coming apart. Very poor quality. They were great sales people and said it would all be fine if something was wrong they would fix it. its been 6 months after they sent someone out and said there was problems with what they sent and they were defects they put a list together of what needed to be replaced. This place is nothing but a scam ! When we first went into look , we were told that we had to make an appointment and that it was important that we show up because they were fully booked all day . When we showed up for our appointment there was only one other person in the store and they worked there ! We were there for 90 minutes and no other customers were there for their " fully booked " appointments ! After we started going over the measurements that they did ( and charged me 75$ to do ) the renderings looked nothing like my kitchen ! The so-called designer / sales person then said " sorry , that's someone else's kitchen" After finally finding our kitchen , we were told that the cabinets that we picked were " back ordered " for 3 months. This seemed odd to me but we gave him the benefit of the doubt when he said he would call " the owner" and see what he could do and that he would get back to us in 2 days. ( but of course he insisted that we leave a deposit even though he wasn't sure of the cabinets we wanted would be in stock ) We waited 4 days and no phone call so we ended up having to call the store back several times and then we were told that they " couldn't get " the cabinets we wanted in. They then tried to up sell us different cabinets that were significantly more expensive . That seems to be there thing ........telling you they can't get the cabinets you want but they always seem to have the much higher priced ones on hand ! We heard them do this to another customer while we were there!!! We told them that we were no longer interested and wanted our deposit credited back to our credit card ........ Cabinet installer forgot to do a few things but took care of it myself in home depot for less than $20. My downfall was the customer service in my local express kitchen store. Very nice and helpful to pick out my choices but after that i felt was so done with me. I honestly felt i wasnt a wealthy enough client. When they told me they partner with PC Richard on appliances PC Richard had no idea about it and when i called EK for assistance they told me "Im spoiled my clients usually take care of their own appliances" Well i am a single mom who needed help and didnt get it, was very inconvenient and on top of that asked for backsplash help, appliance help, another instance for help and a damaged cabinet, all i got was crickets, never a call back or email response and turned me so off i will never recommend im sorry. Warehouse was very helpful but after initial visit to store it was soooo disappointing. beware. I needed it and didnt get it. sorry. So i ended up going to Tile America for my backsplash and it was amazing service i guess they didnt want my business. I honestly have to say I have never in my life been so dissatisfied with a company as I have with Express Kitchens. I have had nothing but problems with this company from the beginning. This is the first time I've had such a bad experience that I've felt the need to write a review about it. The design that was created by Express Kitchens was faulty because it didn't fit the kitchen space correctly. I'm still blown away that their software didn't tell them that the numbers didn't add up. The design had to be tweaked 2-3 times during the project because things still weren't right, on top of that they wasted my time and the contractors time by not reading their work orders and sending me the wrong cabinets. They lied to me about the quality of the wood. I was told it was solid wood cabinets in reality they are all plywood with an extremely thin veneer of wood. I thought I was getting a heck of a deal being solid wood turns out if it sounds too good to be true....... They scheduled and tried to charge me for a plumber when I had already told them I would handle that. I have so many phone calls and emails into this place and no one wants to answer, they just transfer me to voice mail and ignore most emails. I have been trying for just about THREE WEEKS to get a copy of my invoice with the changes for my records. Is there something going on behind the scenes that you don't want to provide me with a copy of my invoice???? I'm sure its just 2 or 3 mouse clicks to generate a copy... The only positive I got out of this was the installer. He was awesome! Very hard worker, he wasn't willing to leave the job until it was perfect. Its only because of him that I didn't totally loose my mind from all this. Its because of his effort and recommendations that I ended up with a nice kitchen. I had very good service from this company. There was only one minor glitch with one cabinet door that was made the wrong size but it was replaced with the correct size door. My installer was meticulous in his work and did an outstanding job. The counters were measured perfectly and the installation was also done perfectly. I have a friend who is a cabinet maker who inspected my cabinets and could not get over the quality of the construction. I checked a few other places and their quality and price could not compare to Express Kitchens. This is my first kitchen remodel in 41 years, so I waited a very long time for this. A kitchen is the worst room in the house for a remodel since you have to pack up all your stuff and move it out making the entire house a mess. Plus you have no stove or sink and the fridge is in another room. But it was worth it. I did the tear out of the old kitchen with the help of a couple friends and I hired a company to install the tile floor. The hardest part of this install was finding blue porcelain tile for the floor! I am extremely satisfied with this company from the design work to the final installation. read more

Don't let the prices sway you to use Express (we used the Newington store). If I didn't have my own contractor do the work I can't imagine what my kitchen would look like. Most of the cabinets had a weird rough finish on them and some had strang streaks..we called Express a few times and then one of the guys actually came to my house and told ME we needed all new doors...More than once my contractor had to go to Hartford to get new pieces as what we got incorrect sizes from Express. Express says that nothing was done wrong, they don't take responsibility for their incorrect measurments or that they delivery wrong items.. I can imagine what a mess our kitchen would have been if our own contractor didn't do the work. They probably would have installed all the wrong stuff. There were multiple problems and I WOULD NOT recommend them! I asked them for a small reimbursement for all of the problems and extra time my contractor had to spend at my house. Their claim is they don't reimburse for installation...BUT, if it wasn't for their incompentence and problems, I WOULD NOT have had to have my contractor there for so many extra days, so my opinion is they would be paying for their mistakes that delayed me...They are unfair. $5,000.00 worth of crap!! Cabinets aren't even 60 days old and they're falling apart. Contacted Corporate Offices in Hartford and I was told they don't normally come out after installation. If they do anything, it would be a favor. Not 100% hardwood as advertised. Corners and braces not clued and are coming apart as well. Garbage can rubs against bottom of cabinet. With junk like this, combined with their poor customer service, I don't know how they have survived 14 years in business. They should be ashamed of themselves!! read more

Express Kitchens provided me with such excellent customer service from the time I walked into the Orange store to the minute my countertops were installed. They didn't turn me away because I didn't have enough square footage as some local businesses did, and they treated me as if I bought a $50K kitchen package from them even though I only bought a small amount of granite countertop. I never once felt as if I wasn't a valued customer. I expressed to Nick at the Orange store, that I've been waiting too long for quotes, measurements, templating, etc from other businesses and he arranged the whole process including installation within two weeks. I am thrilled with the quality, fabrication and just the overall process of this project. They are an extremely professional company and can't say enough about them. They ran out of the granite that I had initially chosen and offered me another beautiful solution. Thank you very much, I am so thankful that I didn't go with any other local competitor! I have been trying to correct problems with my kitchen installation for 3 months. I purchased white cabinets that were installed, in three different shades of white. Hinges fell off of one door 3 times. The installer is a joke. He installed a damaged shelf with Liquid Nails - and now I am stuck with this piece of junk that cannot be removed without damaging my walls. They replaced the doors and drawer fronts on the different color cabinets, and they are still wrong. Today they emailed me to say the colors were acceptable to their vendor, so they are done with me. WHAT? It is my kitchen... I didn't pay for a multi colored kitchen and it is not acceptable. I have an open complaint with the BBB and my next step is small claims court. The salesman who sold us this kitchen misrepresented himself as the owner and lied to us from the start. Buyer beware. I wish I did a better job of researching them beforehand. read more
