I used to regularly stop by for the mini ackee and saltfish because it was always delicious and affordable, especially when I was on a budget. On my most recent visit, I was shocked to see that the price of the mini is now what the small used to cost. I still went ahead and purchased it because I was surprising my coworkers, but I ended up spending much more than I expected. Unfortunately, when I finally sat down to eat at work, I was very disappointed. The taste and overall quality of the food were not what I remembered. It's frustrating to see prices go up while the quality goes down. I live in Fort Lauderdale, where there are plenty of Jamaican restaurants to choose from, so I'll now have to look elsewhere for my breakfast. I truly hope D&G can get back to the quality and value that made me a loyal customer in the past.

I don't know how, but I always got that craving or was in that area on a Monday or Tuesday! This Friday, I was leaving an appointment in Ft. Lauderdale and was determined to make it by to try some good, authentic Bahamian food. Driving west toward the restaurant, I was surprised by the many small Caribbean restaurants in that area. We arrived at Dwikey's only to learn that it is now closed on Saturdays, too -- it is now, Glen's BahamianRestaurant. I questioned whether the place was open, because it looked as if there was some type of transitioning happening. Even so, I decided to take a chance. The young lady who assisted me pointed me to a handwritten menu on a standard 8 1/2 x 11" sheet of paper. There are some starters, including conch fritters and wingettes and several meal choices. Each order came with rice and peas (yes, I said rice and peas, not peas and rice), and a choice of two sides. We ordered fried Snapper with potato salad and coleslaw, fried Snapper with macaroni and coleslaw, and fried shrimp and conch with potato salad and coleslaw. The fish were nice sizes and well-seasoned. The conch and shrimp were golden brown and tender! The coleslaw was fresh and the potato salad, even though it gave me Publix vibes, was homemade and delicious. The macaroni was of the island that includes a bit of green pepper, but not too much. I am a peas and rice snob, but the rice was suitable. Unfortunately, I never got to try Dwikey's, but I did taste Glen's, and I'll be back for more. One final note, in spite of being, "cooked to order," we did not wait long! Glen's does take phone orders with an upfront Zelle or CashApp payment. It's a Bahamian ting!

I must say that the cracked conch was fresh and tender however the sides were not as tasty. The Mac and cheese was okay but both the mixed veggies and collard greens had a sweet taste to them so I could only assume that sugar was added. This was disappointing. South Florida has such great Bahamian restaurants, I'm not sure if we will return to this one.

The pumpkin was too sweet like they added sugar and it had no garlic or cumin, so that I would not get again. It's called Naz Roti online.
