    a styrofoam container of food

While working in North Miami, I was recommended to try Haitian food. One of the places was lecap, which from the pictures, has amazing food. I got fried pork (griot), rice and beans, plantains, salad, and vanilla cake for $12. The fried pork was very good! The hot sauce to pour on took it to another level. I couldn't eat the super fatty cuts that were included. I am a huge fan of the rice and beans as it was a mountain of it to ear. The mashed plantains kept their sweetness and the salad was refreshing. The vanilla cake was sweet and tasted like it has some chocolate at the bottom. If I'm back in North Miami, I'll be back here!

    Black rice. Delicious!!

Eaten here a couple times. The black rice is delicious. Similar to my grandmothers black rice. The chicken stew is delicious, although I would like to see some vegetables in there. The staff are very nice and the service is prompt. The restaurant looks clean and the to go packaging is on point. I definitely recommend!

Griot and black rice was good. Would give it 5 stars, but had to wait a long time for my food.

The legume is well seasoned and mouth watering and the griot is fried perfectly, not too hard or soft and again seasoned to perfection.

It's rare to find a spot that draws you back 24 hours later, but this place is a total standout in Miami. Despite having a larger group this time, we were greeted warmly and seated immediately. The service was excellent from start to finish--attentive, friendly, and perfectly paced for a family dinner. We kicked things off with the Cuban sampler, which was the perfect introduction to the menu and got everyone excited for the main event. Every dish that hit the table was a hit: the Red Snapper was incredibly fresh, and the Chicharron de Pollo had that perfect crunch. My wife really enjoyed the Chicken Milanesa, but for me, the Paella was the star of the show--rich, authentic, and packed with flavor. It's safe to say everything was delicious yet again. We've officially added this to our "must-visit" list for every trip to Miami. If you're looking for a meal that feels both high-quality and welcoming, you can't beat this spot. We'll definitely be back!

Needed to do errands in North Miami, so Little Havana came up as a place to go for Cubanos. It has…read morethree locations in Miami, with this one in North Miami being the original, opened in 1991. We dined in, and the visit blew away the food from the previous week. I really like Cuban sandwiches, so will be something my brother and I keep seeking out during short visits to Miami. We had a one-day rental car, so found Little Havana Restaurant, coming a bit after peak lunch time. It's on a major street, with surface angled parking in the back. There are a lot of wild birds in the area, with their guano being everywhere outside. It's a big dining area inside, and we were immediately directed to a prime location with views of their small lush adjacent green space, and the birds that live there. Elizabeth was our server, with water and complementary rolls being immediately offered by helpers. She and her team were great throughout, offering suggestions and bringing the food nice and hot. We ordered off the Happy Hour menu (11:30 - 18:00 M-F) and the Lunch Special Menu (11:30 - 16:00). We were greatly satisfied with every dish Shrimp in Garlic Sauce, appetizer size ($14.99) - 5 jumbo tail-on shrimp, sauteed in a scampi type sauce. It's what you expect when you douse good shrimp with a butter garlic sauce. The appetizer does not come with rice/beans, but we had plenty of it from the other dishes...loved spooning the sauce over the rice while eating. Roast Pork Lunch ($12.99) - what a deal. A dish of pulled pork with a big piece of fried pork skin on top...reminded me of the Filipino lechon, or even the Hawaiian kalua pork, with the tenderness of the mean. It came with a big scoop of rice and a bowl of red beans. Lamb Shank ($18.49) - This was recommended by Elizabeth when asked by my brother, what he shouldn't miss. It's a Cuban special, cooked in wine sauce. It was a big piece, still on the bone, coming with a big plate of rice and fried plantains. He enjoyed it, though he was struggling a bit at the end. Cuban Sandwich ($12.49) - A full size Cuban sandwich, cut in half. It had been grilled on a sandwich press with a little oil, resulting in the cuban bread being crispy at the top. It had the right mix of that same delicious pulled pork, along with ham, melted swiss, mustard and pickle slices. It was very good, great value for the price. Paying was done at the top, and we intentionally did not take any leftovers. There is a framed newspaper article from 1991 in the lobby, where you can read more about their origins.

In the pictures there are both and it was 9$ for basically canned soup. Tasted awful. Ordered spinach croquettes. They were tiny but delicious, well prepared and worth it. Ordered Moro rice-inedible. Dry. Dry. Dry. And the only flavor was salt. Not sure why they would send the last bit of rice from the pot that sat out all day, but that is what I got. Ordered vegetables-the picture is broccoli, cauliflower and carrots in garlic sauce. I got a few pieces of iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, onions and some cucumbers. That pissed me off since it was not at all what I ordered. Maybe I ordered the wrong things, because the review here are pretty positive. Tried to call the restaurant to see why they didn't include the actual vegetables and decided a salad was a good substitute. No answer. So I won't be eating from here again. Disappointed.

I had been salty about Big Slick's having closed, but it is time to move on. I saw some photos of the food from Bella's and decided to try it before remaining salty, so I ordered food for pickup tonight. They're on your usual delivery apps and have website ordering. I walked in before 8 PM and was a little surprised that there were 2 people separately eating in the restaurant. It had lounge lighting and decor, but it looked casual, since you still would place an order and pay at the front counter (still has the deli setup). To tell you how deserted the counter was, a child was sitting on the stool and had to get a staff member from the back in order for her to give me my order. I left wishing it were a little more happening, especially with the setup. But the food? Wonderful. I got to Griot Parmesan, which is griot (fried pork) and pikliz topping parmesan alfredo penne. THIS is ultimate comfort food! The penne had the great rounded flavor of parmesan and garlic without being overly creamy or heavy, the griot was so tender and evaporated that the fat on it was melty, and the pikliz was a tremendous accent to the dish with its spicy vinegar flavor. I can't remember the last time I liked alfredo pasta so much. It looks to me like Bella's is churning out some lovely Caribbean food. I hope this place gets more exposure so that more people can try it out for themselves!
