Would not recommend this location to anybody. During a basic interview the recruiter talked down to me like I was begging for a job . They are not able to conduct themselves in a professional manner and treat people as if they have no knowledge. If you want to be treated poorly and talked down to like you have no value, then this is the place for you. To top off the unprofessional, I disclosed that I had a disability in which they asked specifically what it was. The recruiter also WROTE IT DOWN and specified my disability and my previous injury. With that information they violated the ADA, which is illegal, so good job Express. read more

I need to warn everybody that Express Employment and their primary client, 1st Associates are not to be trusted and need to be avoided at all cost. This agency is extremely unprofessional-they misrepresent the assignment, do not call you until you are supposed to start your shift to let you know that your assignment ended, call you to say that they have a check for you but then when you arrive will only THEN say that is was just mailed. I don't know if it for lack of really caring or they are just incompetent but it is irrelevant really. The outcome is still the same-you get the sticky end of the lollipop. 1st Associates is a temp mill, pure and simple. Unless you are bilingual, you don't have any long term value for them. I worked with Kim Y and due to their callous disregard to even the most productive temps, I wonder if she is still there as I write this. They don't have any structure for training,the managers disappear with leaving any one in their place and yes, Justin, Gabby is very unprofessional. There is no feedback for improvement, they change your shift with no notice and frankly, their clients-lenders with very inequitable terms of business practices-are not ethical at all. First of all, what is it with this place and Yelp? I have to search like twenty different things to actually get here. Looking for a job is the worst. We all hate it, we all want it to die. Staffing company's offer opportunities that you might not find on your own. This place... The location is nice, clean and small. Upstairs (which, I didn't see an elevator so IDK if it was hidden or non existent). I got there on time and had my appt. This company does like a quick written test as opposed to the long online ones. I thought I liked that, but now I am wondering if it limits your options as far as employers who are looking into a staffing company probably want the one who will give them the most information. A one sided piece of paper may not be as appealing to them as the other awful tests. But that is just a thought I had, having gone through a number of companies in my search. The person I had my appt with took me back, and maybe I wasn't clear in my answers but they kept asking the same questions? And I got the impression they weren't too invested in me as far as well, anything. I felt like they kind of just wanted to get me out of there. But! There was a job that they had in mind for me like boom right away. Encouraging, right? So we finish and I leave all my info then get on my way. I know they get really busy, but when I called to follow up, the person just seemed like bothered. Like obviously you didn't get the job, leave me alone! Type of thing. But they told me to follow up so I wasn't sure what I was doing wrong. This continued a couple of times and once again I never felt like they wanted to get to know me on a personal level, at best. At worst I was like this person hates me! Luckily, I was offered a position through another agency so we didn't have to continue the uncomfortable dance we had going on. Random story: So while I was taking my assessment, a girl came in late. I guess there was an accident and she had e-mailed to her recruiter letting her know she was going to be late. Apparently, she sent the e-mail 3 minutes after the scheduled time and the recruiter wouldn't see her! Don't get me wrong, I totally understand their time is valuable etc etc. But also, this conversation was all like via someone else. The person spoke to my recruiter, then my recruiter went back and forth giving her this information from her recruiter. At first I thought maybe this is a good thing? Maybe this means that they mean business and I should be thankful they even took me on? But now I'm thinking the situation could have been handled better. Did her recruiter call her and offer to reschedule? Did she ever hear from them again? Pretty rough. Not my favorite. read more

To start off I completed the online app and then called them to let them know submitted the app. Let me emphasize I called them per their instructions. Scheduled an appt the following day we went over the app and she started to call my references right in front of me. Ok? She first called my former general manager on which I insisted was not a reference but was ok to call her. She calls asks for by name but doesn't identify herself. Hmmm? Strange, but ok! GM didn't answer leaves message: this is Sara please call me at number. Ok? You didn't identify yourself? She's not going to call you back! Then Olivia calls me the following day, I was in a place I couldn't take calls but caller ID read their company name so I was whispering as I answered. She described position to start the following day I agreed and accepted assignment then 5 seconds later ok I guess I will look for something else. Wait what??? Unfortunately I couldn't call her back until the following day on which of course I got the non chalant cold shoulder. This is the most unprofessional office I've ever dealt with. I agree with SH O's review. Mira Mesa Express Employment Professionals deserves off the charts 10 Stars!! Why you ask? At one time I was with 10+ employment agencies simultaneously; the only work available was 1 day assignments & 1 month contracts (which dont look too good on your resume) where not even part or full time work was available. Over the years, Express Employment never came up in my Google searches but now it does & it is at the top of the list! I sure can see why! My Express experience started with an interview with the Oceanside office on 5/28/14, where I was now in the Express database with all local Express Offices! It was that day that led me to Amy with the Mira Mesa Office. Amy found me in the database & calls me & tells me that she has availability in my area & we set up an interview for Friday 5/30/14. Trust me, I am well aware of the gas tax when job searching &/or commuting from north county to home. $90/wk in gas was out of the question this time. When I visited the Mira Mesa office, I was very impressed with how I was greeted by Marisol who checks you in. Filled out an application & took an assessment paper test. Never had one of those before, usually it is the dreaded 3 hr computer, Word, Excel testing, typing; etc. I met with Amy & by the end of the interview process - I felt right at home. It was clear that Amy's & Express's primary goal was & is to make sure I am happy & taken care of. She placed me with First Associates Loan Servicing in Carmel Mtn Ranch that coming Monday 6/2/14. She wanted me to get a feel for the place first & tell her my thoughts. First of all, my work is only 5 blocks from my home & the pay is more than I was expecting, plus advancement to higher paid positions. My 1st day at work, I was greeted with many friendly faces. The office is huge, there must be over 100 employees I would say. The training was done by the Manager Heather who was very nice. It was very comforting that I wasn't alone; there were others also from Express whom I shared stories with & they helped to comfort the 1st day jitters. All of the staff & Supervisors are welcoming, understanding & are easy to talk to. I have been with First Associates for 3 wks now & I am excited about where the company is headed & the many growth opportunities currently available with First Associates. I have met over 25 employees including those who started 1 wk ahead of me & they seem to really like working there too. Just about everyone working at 1st Associates has moved-up from where they started & since I have been there; the company's staff & clients have nearly doubled in size. I would say that is a clear picture that this company is stable & headed in one direction...UP! They have a gym, a rec room & a nice, clean & very accommodating breakroom. Its a very nice location & building with a ton of parking! The building is equipped with electronic key cards making me feel very secure while at work. The environment is professional, fun & stress-free & b/c it is such a huge office - there is always someone new to meet daily. I am so blessed to be working with Amy & Kristina at Express Mira Mesa Office. Not only have they saved me over $60/wk in gas and landed me a stress-free environment with a promising company (which speaks volumes in my book!) & generated a steady income for me; but both Amy & Kristine (who I haven't met in person yet) are "going to bat for me" & constantly recommending me for permanent employment. I have learned that the key is constant communication & ambition, you have to find a way to stand out amongst the others & show them that you really want an opportunity NOT just to collect a paycheck. I can only give 5 stars, but they deserve 10! I used other temp services who simply didn't measure up to Express, and once I was on board with this company and experienced the service, I dropped the others and never looked back. I used Express when I was in Indiana looking for work. On my own I found nothing, but once I registered w them they landed me a job (with good pay) the next day. Anytime I needed work thereafter, I would actually hesitate to go back to them for about a week or so just to take a break because I KNEW they would land me a job either that day or the next. When I moved back to California I registered w other temp services not realizing that Express had a branch out here. I was relieved when I found them here, and sure enough they lived up to the same professionalism, courtesy, and job ops that the Midwest branch provided. I could fill this whole monitor screen with praises for this company, they've gotten me out of many a pinch regardless of the devastating recession. The customer service is not so great. They give you false information about when they'll get you in and never call. So I follow up with them and ask to speak to Sophia and instead get Karina who totally is not a representation of this company. Telling me she can handle it even though she's just the receptionist, not the interviewer. She keeps asking questions I've already answered in my interview and tells me the position has been filled. That's funny, I didn't get a phone call or email that the position was filled. Sophia told me she'd definitely give me a call on when to come in for a drug screening and a job offer. So I was given the ol' scam when there was negotiation in play. I confront the lady, Karina, about this and she's talking to me like I'm her brother or something. Telling me I'm being rude to her when I tell her I don't want to see that my time was wasted. Do not waste your time and energy here. There are other temp agencies who'd be more than willing to help you get back on their feet, because that's their job. read more

I feel the need to write a review but there is so much wrong mostly with their primary client 1st Associates Loan Servicing, but since I can't review their business, just working there I'll write the review here, with the people who hired and fired me. I mainly want to ditto Donna M. I had the same issues as she, regarding the training was nil and no reviews to let you know how you're doing, changing shifts at the drop of a hat. (ie: changing a 2pm-9pm shift overnight to a 5am-1pm shift) They are so arrogant, the Leads and mostly Management think their you know what doesn't stink. The owner was down to earth and nice. Not even sure David knows how the others are. I thought Gabby liked me, but unfortunately she and the rest wanted to listen to the jealous co-worker, whose girlfriend evidently got too friendly with me. Ugh! The girl was young enough to be my daughter, we were just co-workers who got along! Anyway, stay clear of this job. And, as for KY, she is just a brown-noser. (Sorry, but you know it's true) I hope she gets on there permanent as she would fit right in. i completed the paper work for shoe metro as they go through eep EMILY @ EEP WALKED ME THROUGH THE STEPS DURING THE hiring PROCESS. i worked at shoe metro for 3 weeks it is a shoe company e business, it is owned by an asian guy and the warehouses are supervised by adam a mexican guy who basically have all mexican leads. their names that i came in contact with are hector, francisco (paco) ayala, marcos, osmar, carlos and they speak spanish (mexican) all day everyday i was working and carlos tried to explain what was going on in spanish of course i did not understand and i just looked at him like he was crazy and he made no attempt to speack any kind of english. do not apply with eep their only concern is there clients like shoe metro you as a temp worker have no support no back up not sh&t. I RECIEVED A CALL AROUND 9 AM FROM EMILY TELLING THAT I DID NOT NEED TO GO INTO WORK NO EXPLAINATION NOT SH&T. NO ATTEPT WAS MADE TO ASK ME WHAT HAPPENED AT WORK OR ANYTHING, THIS COULD HAVE MADE ME DISLIKE OR EVEN HATE MEXICANS FOR THE TREATMENT I RECIEVED I CHOOSE TO LATE BS LIKE THAT STAY WHERE IT NEEDS TO BE AND I BLAME THE OWNER AND THE SUPERVISOR AT SHOE METRO. read more
