Great service! I called the day after Thanksgiving after losing power to half my house. Not only did they answer the phone (something the other three electricians I called didn't do), they had an electrician (JR) to my house within a few hours. After a few tests at my electrical panel, JR figured out the problem was most likely from SCE's feed to the house. As he was packing up his tools, JR took a little extra time (and effort) and found a wire had come loose where the power line feeds to the house. He directed me to call SCE and gave me the proper verbiage to get them out to my house immediately. I am very happy with the service Express Electrical provided. I had a terrible experience with this company and feel obligated to warn others. I called them for a quote to upgrade our main service panel from 100 to 200 amps. The technician spent about 10 minutes looking around and then quoted me $14,033. He said it in a way that sounded like "$1,433," which was very misleading. I didn't catch it at first, so I asked for an additional quote to run a 25-foot line outside for a 220-volt plug in the front yard. He then quoted $16,077--again saying it in a way that made it sound like just "16077," clearly a tactic they train their staff to use. When I asked when they could start, he said "right now" and nearly started breaking open my wall before I made him stop. I asked for clarification on the price, and that's when I realized he was quoting over $16,000, not $1,607 or anything reasonable. This was five times higher than the highest quote I received from other companies. It was clear to me that this company operates like a professional scam -- flashy trucks, nicely dressed techs, and outrageously inflated prices. I rarely write reviews, but this level of deception is unacceptable. Be extremely cautious and avoid them at all costs. Jay was prompt and professional quoted us a house rewrite and panel upgrade job at $18,900. When technicians showed up they upsold and tried to charge us the full amount we were approved for. We settled at a price of $22,000. Although the installation was done in less time then they had initially quoted, the walls they broke and the stucco patch they installed was very poor quality. Every time it rains we have to repaint areas water leaks due to their poor patch work. Been calling for weeks now to have it repaired and have just been given the runaround. I would have given zero starts if that was an option. We had a power surge a few weeks ago, and lost power. I called and Express Electrical sent out an "electrician" to diagnose and fix the problem. The "electrician" took a look at the panel, took photos, went into the house (took the plate off of one light switch), and went up into the attic for 5 minutes. When he came out, he told us we needed to get the whole house rewired for $48,000. I asked him what caused the surge, and he said bad wires in the house. He collected $125 for the service call, and we told him don't call us, we'll call you. I found real electrician, who came out (actually took his tools off his belt) and after 2 hours finally diagnosed the problem as an Edison issue (broken neutral line from the power pole), and temporarily patched the broken wire until Edison came out and fixed it. I called to inquire about having a motor from an older model skylight, rewired or replaced. I was told they could do it. After taking all my information and about to set an appointment, I finally asked if there was a charge for them to come out. I was told it was $89 which I would appreciate if they would've told me without me having to ask. I continue to ask more questions, and it turns out that the $89 fee does not go toward the repair, and in the event that they can't do the repair which is quite possible with this kind of thing, they will still charge the $89 fee. I did not make the appointment and I have a feeling that the negative reviews are correct. I'm glad I didn't continue with this company. read more

SCAM ALERT. I own many rental units in the South Bay. I'm also a real estate developer and hold a contractors B- License. One of my tenants reported a partial power outage. It was after hours so I decided not to contact my regular pool of electricians and gave this company a call. Within 5 minutes of the guy showing up there were red flags everywhere. Before even doing an actual diagnosis of the issue he wrote up a very strange "three option" proposal which included all kinds of un needed work not related to the issue at hand. Prices ranging from $1500-8000! I've never seen anything like this in all my years in the construction business. I then told him a about my technical background and asked that he walk me through these "repair options" in more detail. This must have scared him off because he quickly asked for the proposal back and locked it up in his truck, never to be seen from again. The worst part is I had to pay a service fee for them to attempt to scam me. Had another electrician out after this crazy experience. 30 minutes and $150 later. Problem Fixed. From someone who deals with sub contractors on a daily basis this is not how electrical repair work is done. What this company is doing is highly unethical and predatory. They quoted me $2,350 to install a new 220 volt line from the breaker box to my new range. We called another certified electrician who did a quality job for $675 although we had to wait 2 days because it was over the weekend. Everyone that works there is very friendly, and the person that came out (JR) was knowledgeable and personable. But they are trained to up sell, and all roads lead to replacement of your panel or other services you didn't call them for. It's obvious to me that JR was sent to my house with instructions to sell me on upgrades or services that are beyond what I called about. I wish he would have spent as much time and effort helping solve my issue. The smell is still there, but my $750 is gone. They didn't see me as customer; they saw me as a sucker they can charge what they want. I had them come out for burning smell in my son's room, and I even narrowed it down to the outlet I thought was the issue. JR tells me how my panel needs to be serviced, and even though it's a 200 amp panel, he was recommending a newer panel. I let him go through his sales pitch, and it was funny later when he noticed on the panel door that the panel was less than 10 years old. I think he wished he had seen that before so he could have recalibrated his BS to "every 5 years". So he wants me to pay him for replacing my less than 10 year/ 200 amp panel. Meanwhile, he has little to add related to my immediate issue: what is causing that smell in the room. So I resigned to pay him $750 for the outlet I pointed out to him as the possible issue and the breaker it goes to. That is way too much, but it was my choice to pay that. As an honest man, I accept responsibility for choosing to pay that. What is unacceptable is the up selling that takes away from actually meeting the customers needs. Wow first off I'm reading all these "quotes" for 5,500-6,500 To change a breaker which upsets me even more. We had an outlet short out which caused our breaker to flip. After a few attempts we noticed the outlet was melted completely through. We called Express Electrical and got a quote to replace a single outlet for $2,000. Then the tech offered us an upgraded breaker panel for get this...... $13,000. Please explain why others are getting quoted $5,000 while I was quoted $13,000. Predatory Con-Artists! Avoid at all costs! In 30+ years of property management / ownership I've never run into a company so actively engaged in ripping off clients. They attempted to get me to pay $3,000 for a repair that everyone else charges about $125 for ... read on ... My dishwasher & garbage disposal were both having issues - which made me suspect that there was an issue with the outlet underneath the kitchen sink where both appliances are plugged in. Neither of my regular electricians were available to do a repair so I needed to look elsewhere. Although I had never used Express Electrical before, they were available sooner than anyone else. They came out quickly and assessed the situation, stating that it was not just the outlet under the sink that was having issues. According to them the wiring between the outlet and the switch on the wall was bad and needed to be replaced along with the replacing the switch and the outlet. While the electrician was on site he quoted three prices; $900, $2,000 and $3,000 with the difference being in the quality of hardware used and the length of guarantee for the job. I've had wiring work done in the past, including a rewire job done at another property just six months ago that was about three times the size. That larger wiring job was $300 (not including drywall/paint repairs). So I knew their prices were very inflated, and I told them so. They asked what I'd be willing to pay. I told them about the other job I recently had done and they immediately dropped their price to $470. Even though I still felt that was an inflated price for a 'small' rewire job, they were the only electrician available at the time, so I approved the job. Once the electrician started doing the actual work he discovered that the issue really was just with the outlet and no rewiring was necessary. So he quickly replaced the outlet and left. Even though they didn't have to do the full rewire, they still charged me the full $470. I gave both of my regular electricians a call to see what they charge for an outlet replacement. One quoted $125. The other quoted $65-125. I gave Express Electrical a call to complain about the charge amount based on the fact that they didn't need to do all of the work that they quoted. The service rep took notes and said that the manager, Renee would call me back. After a few days I hadn't heard anything so I called back and went over everything again with another service rep. Again I was told that Renee would call me back. Again no call-back. So I kept calling them every couple days to try to get a hold of Renee. Each time I was told he would call me back. He never did. After three weeks I gave up and filed a dispute with my credit card company who gave me a refund. About a month later I noticed an Express Electrical service van parked outside my neighbor's home. While Express Electrical was there, giving them a quote, I let them know how the company had handled the job at my home. Later, they confirmed with me that Express Electrical's quote for the work at their home was more than double the quotes that they received from other companies and they were grateful for my intervention. read more

We hired Express Electrical Services on June 11th to replace our breaker box outside of our home. The job was to take one day and they were extremely over-priced. We had a problem and had no choice so we hired them. The job took 44 days to complete and in doing the job they damaged the wall on the inside of the house, which they volunteered to repair but having seen the time and the terrible work they did outside we did not want them in the house, we asked for a can of paint and hired our own painter to do the job. I needed a floodlight installed and contacted Epress Electrical based on 2.8k GOOGLE reviews and 4+ rating. Should have known the reviews were fake. Omar came to my home & was very personable and discussed my options to get a new line to where the floodlight would go. After checking my breaker panel, came back & told me it needed to be moved, and upgraded. Said he would give me 2 quotes, one for floodlight only & one for floodlight & panel. Never gave a quote for floodlight only & panel would be nearly $17,000. Before showing me the quote he asked me "are you ready?" and said "don't get upset" etc. Then kept talking about how they will warranty the work, blah, blah, blah. Right away he gave a 20% discount, because he said he liked me LOL. It wasn't an emergency so I decided I should get other quotes because the whole thing didn't feel right. Glad I came here to confirm these guys are ridiculous!!! Frosting on the cake=the night after Omar left, my house wasn't cooling down. It was 85 that day. I thought it was weird because it had been working just fine. Next night same thing. Fan is running, everything is good, but no cooling. After calling Express Electrical Services @ (213) 626-4277, (I don't remember the guys name but let's call him: John Dillinger, lol) he arrived and started with these Harry-Potter-Wand, theatrics': Which, I have characterized the experience as the Electrician waving his Green tipped, beeping light-saber (electrical voltage sensor) stating: "somethings wrong here!" Walking numerous times from my kitchen to the dining room area. "oh, there's most definitely something wrong here with your wiring: see, see, it's not supposed to do that". Long-story short, "he sates you need a new 200 amp. Circuit Breaker Panel (@$12,000 Plus), or we can rebuild your existing one (@$6,000 plus)". The kicker was toward the end of his performance: (oh it's your garbage disposal outlet), Nope, Dang-shame... he wasn't even close to diagnosing the problem! And, he had the "gall" to ask me with a straight face "how much do you think this will cost you? Give, me a number!" Yeah, this man wanted to charge me $475.00 to change out a single electrical outlet (which costs $2.00 @ Home Depot, & the cover was not included). Finally, he stated "Oh, I cannot guarantee changing the outlet will fix your problem, because; you need a new electrical panel as I have priced you from our set-pricing book". He should be in movies from his performance and theatrics'. I paid him $89.00 per his service fee and sent him packing (just wow). Coining the phrase: I was born at night, just now last night! Do Not Use this company. we made an appointment with them for a rental. they didn't trust the property manager and insisted that the owner verify the work order and out a credit card in file. they called and texted 5 times, asking for land approval that was given, and for credit card again, which they had. on the day of the service, they said unless the owner or manager was there, they could not keep the appointment. I demanded email confirmation my credit card information was deleted. Outstanding work! I scheduled for a time to have my home electrical problems looked at. Saul J contacted me and let me know if it was okay to come a little early. Most people I deal with come late and never call. Kudos for this!! Saul was highly professional and very personable at the same time. He was very tenacious is trouble shooting which took about 6 hours. He took time to explain things in great detail of what was going wrong. He returned a couple of days later fixed my problem. Further he looked over the rest of my home and pointed out some other minor problems that I had. These were fixed on the spot!
