Two very good haircuts so far -- one from each stylist -- but Z... O... M... G... I swear, David Lynch must have designed the ambiance here. The decor is 80s pink and pastel teal, complete with formica. It looks recent & intentional, not leftover. The music... could almost be an alternate La Cage aux Folles soundtrack. I mean, can you imagine hearing something that sounded like "Lost in Love" covered by Captain and Tennille, with guest vocals by Antony of Antony and The Johnsons? I believe the owner is Persian, seeing Gougoush and Banan CDs on the shelf (and Googling the names on my Evo 4G when nobody was looking). I can't say the music's bad, just surreal. If you like the bizarre showtune and adult contemporary covers genre, then your groove is on here. Anyway, at $23 including tip for a guy's haircut, I like the results *almost* as well as with my $42 stylist back home in Chicagoland (though of course that's a more chic salon, and she's much wittier, more engaging & way hotter to look at. I was in search for a new hairstylist after 14+ years. Thank you COVID-19! Mali was fantastic. She followed all the safety protocols. Temperature checks, sanitizer, masks. The salon was also very clean and organized which I love since I'm a germaphobe. Mali consulted with me about what type of cut I was looking for. Showed me some hairstyle inspiration books. She was so friendly, and we had an instant connection. The kind you look for in a hairstylist aka therapist. I am so happy with my new look. Goodbye quarantine hairstyle! Disclaimer: Didn't actually get service. Bought the groupon for one blow dry, one color treatment, and one moroccan oil deep conditioning treatment. Called them on the phone to make my appointment, and whoever answered was incredibly rude and short with me. I was trying to understand the specifics of "color treatment" because I wanted to get a hair dye. So I asked, does this mean a "hair dye"? She responded yes. So I then ask if I could get my hair dyed red, and she said no this is to cover greys only. I then said I thought you said hair dye, and she just basically yelled at me for not understanding that to her "hair dye" = "getting greys covered" and nothing more. She was extraordinarily rude and consdescending so I decided to not to make an appointment there after all and cancelled my Groupon. read more

This place is so deceiving! I called and asked how much it costs for a men's cut. $20. Great, not bad for the area. After getting my cut the hair dresser said, okay $27 ... dafuq? I called and they said $20. It's been $27 for over a year, sir. Thank you, next. --- It turns out the owner of this salon subleases to the individual hair stylists. This may be common, not sure. Anyway, I believe I spoke to the owner on the phone and she's just trying to get more clientele in the door, so she quoted me $20. It was clear the stylists did not like her, either, and gave me their personal information so next time the owner doesn't get as big a cut. read more

Not a reliable salon if you have an event to attend or a flight to catch. I had to fly for a wedding and thought of getting a blowout right before leaving to the airport. I was very skeptical to get my haircut because my hair has never been this long in my life. I always had short hair since high school and I was really scared to get my haircut. My good friend suggested so we decided to go together... So I sat on the chair and she starts spraying my hair and asked me if I wanted to keep my length and so I nodded. Soon after that question, she right away started cutting my hair not asking me what I wanted or how I wanted it cut... I know that as the person getting the haircut, you have to be firm and tell them exactly what I want but I didn't even get the chance to tell her.... She started cutting my hair without me knowing what she's going to do. So i was just sitting here dumbfounded... I am actually pretty shy so I couldn't barge and ask her what exactly she was doing to my hair... I sat there seeing my precious locks getting cut... I thought she was going to keep my length, but I guess not.... After biting my tongue and being frustrated, she blow-dried my hair and the final product was very upsetting.... Again, I was too shy to say I hated it and I wanted to refund so I just continued to bite my dog and have an unpleasant face all the way... I paid $35.00 for a haircut that i did not like. I called this place to inquire about their keratin treatment. The person who answered was so rude from the second she picked up the phone. She answered my questions with a short yes/no with a tone of annoyance, as if I had disturbed her sleep in the middle of the night! I also asked what product they use to do keratin treatment and she said she can't tell me! I said I want to come for get a treatment and I deserve to know what product you will be using on my hair. She said "You need to make an appointment and come here, then I show you the product!" WTH! That defeats the purpose! I need to research the product and read reviews on it BEFORE I make an appointment to get a treatment, not after. If they are so insecure about their product that they don't want to disclose its identity, they can be sure I'd never step into their store, and you shouldn't either. read more

I took my mother and we both got our hair cut yesterday. My mother wanted hers cut very short from about shoulder length. I just wanted about 3 inches trimmed off the bottom of mine. No shampoos, no styling. I went to pay when we were done, and even though the sign clearly states women's hair cut $25.00, she charged me $30.00 to do my mother's hair because it required more than just a quick trim. I pointed out the sign to her, and she stated the cuts "start at $25.00". Because I only needed a trim, she charged $25.00 for mine. Because she actually had to work and do a "cut" on my mother, she charged $30.00 What a scam. We won't be back. read more

My opinion: this is the best place in town for a haircut and I have tried many different places throughout the peninsula and South Bay. I can't say my hair has ever felt better than when Mali cuts it. She is so precise and detailed, you can see this while she works. My husband and my daughter now go through this location as well for cuts. I've been here a handful of times for haircuts and once for a color that turned out absolutely gorgeous. I feel like people see this place off of El Camino and compare it to Lams while driving by. This is by far better. I've been to Lams..I've left my reviews for them (sub par). To wrap this up. I've been going to Mali for 10 years!! She gives a perfect cut and is fantastic with color, highlights or any other hair treatment, This week, on Monday, Mali did my first Keratin treatment it it came out amazing! My hair is so soft and shiny!!! Today she did my color. I had bleached it by myself and really wanted to go back to my original color. Needless to say that you can't tell the difference from my roots to the end color. It's so natural! I bought a Groupon for the Keratin treatment. I haven't had my hair done in a while so I was excited about being able to relax and get pampered, but instead I just wanted it to be over. Mali is ok but she's not super friendly and doesn't not have the best customer service. I felt that every question that I had were answered with a rude response. When I was getting my hair washed I got some water on my face, and when she was brushing my hair she brushed really hard and I felt like my hair was going to just break off. I also had my hair dyed with her and I think it was very expensive for just the roots and then she just dyed the rest of the hair with a little hair dye and water left it on for 5 minutes and then washed it off. My hair looks almost the same color as when I walked it, it looks uneven. I could have done I better job dying my own hair. I think that their is room for growth specially when it comes to customer service. If a client has any type of questions regarding the process they should be answered politely. Solid service and knowledgeable of modern hair styles, I entered express cuts in somewhat of a hurry to get to SF that night. I showed Mali the image of the haircut I wanted and she said that she understood my desires. Then she turned her back walked over to the computer started playing so great music, came back and got to work on my hair. It was such a pleasant experience.
