HEAR ME OUT! I came in there looking like a whole potato, feeling bummed, and immediately the cashier was so welcoming and kind. I ordered a gyro meal in person, took about 10 minutes. Upon first bite I was amazed! The chicken was well seasoned, cooked and juicy! Fries were crispy and fresh, they got that psoriasis fries which always makes a meal better. The tzatziki was perfect and portioning overall was decent. Let me tell you, this meal cured me. I was having a rough day and one bite changed it all. Ordered a gyro and what I received was something else that looked nothing like the picture on the wall. A gyro is made with slices of meat from a spit. A gyro includes fresh raw tomatoes, fresh raw red onions, and usually fresh raw lettuce, with a cool yogurt based sauce on top, a refreshing combo of hot meat and cool ingredients. This thing was made with chunks of meat instead, which is suspect. The tomatoes were borderline rotten and a runny mess. The onions appeared to be yellow instead of red and were cooked. Even the lettuce was disgusting, as none of it was green and it appeared to be cut (in large, unappetizing chunks) from the heart of the lettuce that isn't particularly edible. The sauce was thin, so it's hard to believe there is any yogurt in it, but regardless, it wasn't cool and tasted like it had too much of something (vinegar?). This disgusting thing also included cooked green peppers, which have no place in a gyro, and chunks of cucumber, which is supposed to be an ingredient in the sauce, not thrown on top to save you from putting meat in the sandwich. The entire thing was a soggy, disgusting mess. Portions are insanely small for a dive, as if this was a fine dining establishment serving delicate creations made of foam. If they handed you your meal and then allowed you to pay for it only if you were happy with the weight of the food you were receiving for the money, they would never sell anything (except maybe cotton candy). The fries were good. Everything on this menu is overpriced though, and it's pretty clear that the profits aren't being put back into the business. I would not eat here again. read more

This is by FAR the best place to get Gyros in Albany. It has never disappointed me once. The Chicken Over Rice is incredible and is always hot. The white sauce side they give you on the side tastes great and always tastes really fresh. The fries are always super crispy and tastes amazing. There is so much more I cannot wait to try from here! Definitely my favorite food spot in Albany, especially if you're looking for a quick hearty meal. The service is great, the dude behind the counter is always nice and smiling (forgot to ask for his name last time I stopped by but you're likely to run into him if you visit). The food is always fresh and hot and they don't skimp on quantity. Definitely recommend the lamb over rice and the chicken over rice. Also their tres leches cake is great. This is place is so good!!! I come 15 minutes out of town for this spot 2-3 times a week! I always get the lamb gyro or chicken over rice with double meat of course! I'm sure the other things are just as delicious, i can't exactly give my opinion BUT if your craving either of those things... This is the best place for those two items hands down. read more

I went to Capital Q Smokehouse for some BBQ but they're still closed from their fire. I saw this place around the corner and popped in. Ordered a lamb over rice meal. Received a large portion of lamb, rice, with a little side salad. Also came with a drink, which I was not aware of. All for $7.99. Cheap, filling, and the food was absolutely delicious. Hands down best gyros in Albany! Combo over rice is on point, and the white sauce is addicting and perfect on gyros, combos, and best fry dipping sauce ever! Servings are overflowing for a great price, and the lamb is perfectly seasoned and tender every time. I originally would get the chicken gyro (which is also tender and amazing), but tried my husband's lamb over rice once and have been hooked ever since! The fried chicken is crunchy and golden, but still juicy inside. The owner is super nice and always chats with my husband when he goes to pick up our order. We've ordered from here many times and have never been disappointed on quality or quantity! read more

I like the Gyros here quite a bit, but they are rarely open when I come and there are no hours posted. I have made the trip to come here a few times only to be disappointed. Another review says they open at 2 but the shop is dead today at 2:30 read more

For a late night bite to eat, can't really complain. The staff there are super friendly and accommodating. I ordered the chicken and lamb over rice to try a little of both. It came in your classic to go foil bowl with a plastic lid. Inside the bowl there was a good amount of chicken and lamb over seasoned rice, a little bit of greens to the right (iceberg lettuce, sliced red onions and tomatoes) drizzled with white sauce drizzled on. I got the spicy sauce on the side which was 50 cents extra. The meal came also with a soda. Honestly for late night food it was good, and I liked that they didn't put a ton of white sauce on it. I was overall happy with my experience there. The fried chicken looked really good through the case. That will be my next late night meal. read more

This is THE spot for halal food. It tastes exactly how it does compared to NYC food carts. And these guys are so nice and always friendly! Every person there has gone above and beyond to make sure the customer is happy. They always get my order correct, despite me being a picky eater. And their prices are reasonable for the amount of food provided. Above all, they cook the falafel in pieces rather than whole which gives it a lot more flavor. Yum. read more

I wanted to give a good review because of all of the other reviews I read before going there. I went here because I had a craving for fried chicken, potatoes and a biscuit. The interior of the place is very clean, very large menu is nicely displayed and staff were very accommodating. I ordered a 12 piece meal that was crammed into what I would describe as a KFC biscuit box for $20. I asked because I couldn't believe 12 pieces of chicken would fit in this small box. This would usually come in a bucket. I explained that to the young man and he added 2 extra pieces of chicken to the order. When I opened the box at home and tried to count them some pieces were broken Or really small so that is why it did not look like 12 pieces. Even for fried chicken it was very greasy because of the way it was packed and the seasoning was overly salty to me. As my bag was being packed I mentioned we were supposed to get 4 biscuits with our meal. They said they changed their bread and the young man put 6 Saralee dinner rolls in my bag. That was so disappointing. That is something they should have mentioned. I don't eat fast food often but I do like my biscuit with fried chicken. I got the usually instant mashed potatoes with gravy. They were typical. The Cole slaw had a strong vinegar taste. We also ordered a grilled chicken salad. It's very big. It was not mine but I tasted a small piece of the chicken, it's not over salted. It's actually big enough to share with another person. Lastly we got a piece of tres Leche cake. They don't make it there and I haven't tasted it yet. My final opinion is...I'm not sure I would return here. I thought maybe I'd want to come back and try a gyro but I don't think so now. My suggestion is if you are going to substitute something, tell your customer at the time they are making the order so they can decide if they want to continue with their order.
