My go to is steak, chicken Shrimp, broccoli, mushrooms, carrots, zucchini the best bowl! It's like to go hibachi but without the expensive price tag. I got my son a kids bowl yesterday and he loved it. It was his first time trying it. I wish they let you add extra veggies for the kids they only come with 1. You can add extra I'm sure but I didn't. So this place is like the subway of Hibachi. You walk in there is low bar seating to the left and there is a grill and bar area to select your items from. You start by ordering your protein, add your veggies and then you pick your starch. There are other items on the menu that come selected for you. I prefer to build my own..... Express Bowl is one of my favorite places to eat in BR. You have have hibachi in as little as five minutes and it still tastes just like hibachi from a Japanese restaurant. I always get the large bowl with shrimp, scallops, crabmeat, jalapeños, bell peppers, onions, and cauliflower. POOR SANITATION! This was my first time trying this restaurant and the food looked great so I ordered a small chicken bowl with veggies. The employees greeted me and were very friendly however I think they need a crash course on sanitation and restaurant etiquette. The gentleman who made my food put the raw ingredients in the bowl with no gloves or hairnet on (he had long hair). Then before cooking it he checked me out, I paid with cash. After handling the cash at the register he proceeded to then grab my bowl and cook it on the stove. There was a sink right next to the stove and he did NOT wash his hands before cooking (or at all for that matter). There's really no excuse here besides lack of restaurant training or simply employee laziness. I was extremely off-put by this but also starving so I dug in. The food tasted great until I found a long HAIR in my food!!! (i.e. NO HAIRNET) This is a huge bummer because I really liked the food and the fresh ingredients. I would love to go back but unfortunately I don't feel comfortable given my experience. I give this establishment a 2 star rating for the lack of sanitation. Came here after hearing it was decent from my roommate. This was close to school and thought it would be a great snack. The place was clean and there are many protein options far more than veggie options. There was an array of shrimp scallops and calamari options for seafood and chicken, sausage, and steak. I chose steak and scallops for my protein options with cabbage and carrots double of each option. The bowl was 15.00 dollars for a large. It seemed pretty pricey for the size and the fact it was take out but I had already committed. The food was pretty good. It was grilled and pretty healthy. The only cons were that if you are allergic to shellfish I would steer clear they don't exactly keep things separate from each other when they cook and that could definitely cause issues. The food was also a bit pricey. Bottom line would I return? If someone bought it for me sure but pay for it no it cost more than a sit down restaurant on average for less than memorable service. read more

I was excited to try Express Bowl and was hoping for a good healthy option in this part of town- there's not much in this area! The variety of vegetables was great, and I was happy that the veggie bowl option included large scoops of most of the veggies. There is no tofu option at this time. The veggies are stir-fried on a grill with a "special seasoning" that the chef would not give me any details about- however I was able to confirm that there were no animal ingredients in the seasoning or oil. Unfortunately, the same grill is used for all bowls- so if you're picky about your veggies being in an area that meat was grilled on, you're out of luck. I was told that the grill would be wiped with water prior to making the veggie bowl, but it was just scraped clean instead. I asked about it and was told (somewhat rudely) that the the grill was clean enough. We got our bowls and though the portion was great, the flavor was incredibly salty. There was also a thick layer of oil at the bottom of the bowl. I ultimately couldn't eat much of it. Despite letting the employees on the line and the stir-fry chef know that we do not eat meat, egg, or dairy, we were encouraged to get the egg noodles and asked (several times) to try the dairy-based Yum Yum sauce. TLDR; not veggie/vegan friendly, high sodium/high oil; would compare it to a food court or fast food stir-fry. read more

There are certain vegetables that I feel like are absolutely unnecessary in any of my dishes. Happy hour is form 2-5pm and with that you get a small chicken bowl. After you've built-up your bowl, the hibachi cook will stir-fry it all for you. They advertise a healthy lunch alternative and it seems great in theory, but no. I tried a shrimp bowl but couldn't substitute any ingredients.
