I've been going to Express Auto for about 8 years now and I've always had a great experience. I've had all my routine maintenance as well as emergency work done here, everything from oil changes and brake pads to timing belt replacements and troubleshooting an overheating engine. Without fail, I always have my car back in working order. Wes has been great from the very beginning, and Dave was brought on board a few years ago I believe, and I cannot give this man enough praise. Dave is extremely knowledgeable and helps you in every aspect he can. Recently my radiator was busted and sprayed coolant all over my engine like a fire hose, and I was nowhere near Express; thankfully, a mechanically-inclined friend of mine was able to assist me where I was at the time. Well, I took my car in for an oil change about a week after my friend helped me replace the radiator, and Dave came to the waiting room and asked about the radiator. He said he smelled coolant (which I can confirm, my engine definitely wreaked of coolant for the first few days after we changed the radiator). After I had explained the situation with the radiator to him, he did what a great mechanic shop does, and what a good mechanic shop is not required to do: he reviewed the radiator situation to make sure everything was kosher, and that there were no leaks. They didn't install the radiator, so they by no means needed to check this, but sure enough they did, and reported back to me that everything looked good, which gives further peace of mind to me that my car isn't going to overheat again because of a possible radiator installation issue.
The lengths Express Auto will go to is above and beyond. Most recently when I was getting my oil changed, as mentioned above, there was another customer in the shop speaking with Dave. The customer was complaining that Express Auto needed to fix his car for free because he had previously had work done on the car from Express Auto, but the problem was that he had a mobile mechanic look at his car a month prior after the issue had been fixed for months, but couldn't tell Dave what was wrong with the engine according the mobile mechanic's diagnosis. Dave pointed out that if the mobile mechanic had been digging into the motor, then any repair shop is going to void that warranty - this is when the customer quickly back-tracked and said the mobile mechanic just glanced at it or something, to which Dave asked how the mechanic deduced everything without really troubleshooting the problem. But once again, Express Auto went above the rest - Dave explained that even though the warranty would be considered void to any repair shop, he said "but I'm a fair guy" (which I vouch 100% for accuracy) and stated that if that customer would simply bring the vehicle in to Express Auto for troubleshooting, that they would determine what's wrong, and if it really was an issue with what Express Auto had fixed, that they would look into remedying the issue. The customer started throwing out every excuse it sounded like he could think of, and then countered with "How about you buy my car instead?"
The reason I'm going through all of this is because I see negative reviews here on Yelp which look entirely unwarranted. Wes and Dave have always been the absolute best to me, and I can't imagine them any other way. It's crazy how if you treat them with respect, they'll do the same for you. And by the way, Cheryl H., a battery alone is going to run you around $110 average, and when you get spark plugs replaced in addition to a new battery, you're running the bill even higher. Just an FYI. read more
