If you only read one thing about this place - hair removal is definitely worth not having to worry about it anymore and Debra is the best at what she does! The process: At your first consultation, Debra takes you through what to expect, including how many treatments, pain level and cost. She evaluated my chin (which was hairrryyy) and said due to my incessant plucking, I had to undergo electrolysis instead of laser hair removal. She gave me a timeline of treatments starting every 2 weeks and eventually downgrading to every 4-5 weeks. She said I would really start to see a lot less hair after my 10th treatment and she was totally accurate. Since then, I've also come in for laser hair removal every 6 weeks or so. All in all, it took about a year, but I no longer worry about my chin hairs and I feel so much better about my appearance The pain: Electrolysis does hurt, but Debra makes it bearable. Since you have to zap (literally) every hair, it is a much more lengthy appointment than laser. But, Debra takes care of you, and after the first couple of appointments you get used to the process Laser is much quicker, but targets more hairs at once so it hurts more in my opinion. Debra will go as fast (get it over with) or slow (take a breath) as you want. She tells you all the post-appointment creams and ointments so that you feel better after you leave her office too. Most of my appointments were during my lunch break from work since her office is downtown. At first with electrolysis there was some redness and swelling that would last up to a couple of days, but could be covered with makeup. Eventually my skin got used to it (and the appointment got less intense) so that all the redness went away within 15-30 minutes The price: So much more affordable that I thought it would be! She lets you know price at your consultation and expected length of the appointments/how frequently you would need to go. So, you can definitely calculate how much it would be in total. I would call Debra a bargain for the peace of mind she's given me about my appearance The place: She works in a dental office which at first sounds strange, but it makes sense given that the chairs move every which way and sometimes you need to be laying down in weird positions. She is always very clean and careful. If she is running late (rare), she notifies you so you aren't sitting around waiting 10/10 would recommend!

Instead, I left feeling that communication, patient education, safety protocols, & billing transparency all fell far below what I would expect from a medical practice performing elective cosmetic procedures. To be clear, everyone I interacted with--including Dr. Nicoletta and the medical assistants--was polite and kind. My review is not about anyone's personality. It is about the systems & standard of care surrounding the procedure. Prior to my CoolSculpting appointment, I received virtually no education beyond an automated appointment reminder. I was never sent written instructions explaining how to prepare, what sensations to expect during treatment, possible side effects, recovery expectations, activity restrictions, or aftercare instructions. Even on the day of my procedure, I had to ask many of the basic questions myself before signing the consent forms. I was told I would simply feel very cold and that there would be little to no pain. Instead, during the first several minutes, I experienced intense burning and cramping that radiated from my navel into my lower back before the area became numb. I understand these sensations may be normal, but they should have been discussed beforehand so patients know what to expect. After the applicator was removed, I was surprised when another device was introduced to massage the treated area. Until that moment, no one had informed me that this was part of the procedure. I also later learned there were additional costs associated with portions of the post-treatment process that had never been discussed during my consultation or before treatment began. Patients deserve to understand exactly what their procedure includes and exactly what they are paying for before treatment starts--not afterward. The most concerning part of my experience involved patient monitoring. I was left alone during the procedure with a call button in case I needed assistance. I had previously obtained approval from the office to bring my emotional support dog because he had significant medical issues & a veterinary appointment immediately afterward. During the procedure, he became tangled in his carrier and was clearly distressed. I repeatedly pressed the emergency call button for approximately 12 minutes while also calling out for help. No one responded. I ultimately had to call the front desk from my cell phone while still attached to the CoolSculpting machine before anyone came into the room. Afterward, I received two different explanations--one that the pager had been left elsewhere while another patient was being assisted, & another that the battery may have died. Regardless of the reason, I found it extremely concerning that a patient could repeatedly activate an emergency call system for that length of time without anyone responding. Perhaps the biggest disappointment came after I left the office. I received no written discharge instructions whatsoever. That evening I experienced soreness, bruising, cramping, numbness, & difficulty sleeping because I had no idea whether I should use ice or heat, whether I could exercise, how I should sleep, what symptoms were normal, or when I should contact the office. I ended up searching for answers myself online instead of receiving guidance from the medical practice that had just performed a $1,250 elective cosmetic procedure. Following my appointment, I sent the practice a detailed email outlining these concerns. The only response I initially received was a voicemail regarding an incorrect charge on my bill. None of the larger concerns regarding communication, patient education, monitoring, or aftercare were addressed. Patients undergoing elective cosmetic procedures deserve: comprehensive pre-procedure education, transparent pricing, appropriate monitoring during treatment, & clear written aftercare instructions before they leave the office. While it's marketed as a quick, trendy facial bar, it ended up being very expensive for what you get, not relaxing, and overall pretty gimmicky. I added a "tech neck massage" and an oxygen facial, which drove up the cost. The massage was 3 minutes AND was part of my 30 minute service, it did not extend it despite it being an additional $15 for each add on. I had heard about their $35 first facial promo using the code "virgin," which in hindsight should've been my first red flag. Real original first time user promo code, I hate the try-hard edginess of it all. During the appointment, the upselling was constant. Products, memberships, add-ons, it never really stopped. And again, this is on me. I did cave and ended up purchasing both a membership and a product. Very loud music + overdone neon signs. I didn't find it enjoyable or worth the cost. I ended up spending around $200 after add-ons and products, some of which I didn't even receive and had to call about later to get refunded. Overall, felt more like a rushed retail transaction than a spa service. The open-concept layout offers no privacy, and the space itself felt worn and not particularly clean. Chicago winters are messy, but the salt and slush made the floors look dull and chalky, and the chaise lounges were visibly worn with exposed inner material. That said, I can see how this model might appeal to a different audience. For example, I think it could actually be a fun option for a tween birthday party. The quick service, energetic atmosphere, and shorter treatments might suit that demographic well. I don't mean that negatively. Just incase I look crazy or need to hide the swelling. Turns out I barely needed the mask! I had rhinoplasty/septoplasty surgery done 3 weeks ago and could not be happier. Aside from minor swelling in the tip (which can take up to a year to fully subside), I can see the shape and I'm already satisfied with results. My recovery was a little uncomfortable the first 3 days post op, but I had zero pain and only took a 1/4 of the prescribed painkiller the first day of surgery - just to be safe. I felt great with the exception of minor swelling and bruises around my eyes/nose - both painless and diminished within a week. The cast removal was 7 days following my surgery and aside from looking a little swollen, I was immediately comfortable in public and with seeing my friends/family! My overall experience to date has been 10x better than what I had in mind and I could not be more satisfied. My nose is no longer running constantly throughout the day and I feel like my breathing is more balanced! It has been life changing.
