The best plumber I have ever delt with. I use him for all of my pumbing needs that falls outside of my home warranty which is most of them.

    Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

    Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

    (3 reviews)

We recently had a plumbing emergency at our home in Kingwood when water began leaking out of our…read moredownstairs toilet and creating a large puddle on the floor. This is an issue we've dealt with on and off over the years due to a recurring clog in the line, so we've had plumbers come out before to clear it. Because this was urgent, my husband called the Kingwood office of Roto-Rooter since they were the closest location to us. The technicians came out and attempted to clear the clog but said they couldn't get it. They then told us they ran a camera through the line and claimed our pipe was broken. We were then given an estimate of around $13,000 to repair the pipe. On top of that, we were charged over $400 essentially just for the visit and the diagnosis. At the time, we trusted what they told us. But later my husband started thinking about the appointment and realized something important: we were never shown the camera footage of this supposed broken pipe. He called the office afterward to ask about the footage and was told that they usually don't show customers the camera during the inspection and that the footage is typically sent later. But that raises an obvious concern: How would we even know if the footage sent later is actually from our home if we were never shown it during the inspection? Because of this, my husband decided to get a second opinion from another plumbing company. When the second company came out, they immediately ran their camera and invited us outside to watch the live camera feed with them while they inspected the line. What they showed us was very clear. Our pipe was NOT broken. Instead, the line simply has a belly/bend in the pipe, which we had been told about years ago and which can contribute to clogs. They were also able to successfully clear the clog during that same visit. So in our situation: * We were told we needed a $13,000 repair for a broken pipe * We were charged over $400 for that diagnosis * We were never shown the camera footage during the inspection * Another company showed us the live camera feed and confirmed the pipe was not broken * The actual problem -- the clog -- was cleared without a $13,000 repair As homeowners, we rely on professionals to provide honest and transparent information, especially during stressful emergencies. Being told we needed a major $13,000 repair that turned out not to be true is extremely concerning. What concerned us the most The biggest issue for us was the lack of transparency. If a company is diagnosing a broken pipe using a camera inspection, customers should be able to see the footage at the time of the inspection. Advice for other homeowners Before agreeing to any major sewer repair, make sure to ask: * Can I see the live camera footage of the problem? * Can you point out exactly where the pipe is broken? * Can I receive the footage before agreeing to the repair? If we had not gotten a second opinion, we could have easily moved forward with a $13,000 repair that wasn't actually needed. We would appreciate someone from management at Roto-Rooter reviewing this situation and contacting us regarding the $400+ we paid for a diagnosis that turned out to be incorrect.

My water heater suddenly stopped running and unfortunately I couldn't figure out how to restart it…read moreso I called Rotor-Rooter. They were able to respond fairly quick and took a total of about 10 minutes to turn on my water heater. The problem was THEY CHARGED ME $298.00 to do so! I found out that the water heater has a breaker that needed to be reset. My ignorance of this ended up being very costly; however, the fact that Rotor-Rooter took advantage of this is completely unethical and it shows that they are more than willing to put their profit making before their customer service. The technician that helped us was very nice but his company's policy is outrageous. I would understand paying a fair service call price, but $298.00 for a job that took only 10 minutes!!! Don't used these crooks!!!
