I received a flower arrangement from Exotica Florist on 9/20/22. When I got home from work at 5PM, the arrangement was on my front porch sitting out in the sun. The rose in the center was wilted and brown on the edges. I asked for a refund for my son and daughter-in-law who ordered the flowers for my birthday, but I was told by the manager of Exotica that they would not provide a refund because the flowers were ordered from 1-800-Bloom.Net. Two days later one sunflower was wilting (sunflowers typically last quite a while). My take is that they do not do enough business to keep fresh flowers in stock. Why would a reputable florist send out an arrangement with wilted flowers? Because the order is via FTD and they think it doesn't reflect back on them. Maybe they do weddings nicely but not regular arrangements. I ordered an arrangement online through FTD with no idea which florist would be selected. What arrived is nothing like the online image. Well, the vase is the same. My friend just lost her mother-in-law and flowers always cheer her up. I selected the arrangement based on what my friend likes and the online image. Buyer beware as the arrangement was very skimpy compared to what I thought my friend was receiving, contained flowers that were not in the online image, and was missing quite a few different flowers including mini-rose sprays and pinkberry sprays. Two stars as the flowers lasted a few days. For some reason my two posted photos aren't showing up. read more

Absolutely terrible customer service! I received flowers for Easter through Exotica. Exotica delivered them on Friday and left them on my porch with no call or knock on my door despite's frigid temperatures. The flowers were not wrapped - just left on the cold porch cement floor until I saw them Saturday morning. I called to complain (they were already shedding petals) on Saturday morning and I talked to Christina and later Teddy. christina indicated she would report the situation. Neither did anything to rectify their terrible service! this is my first Yelp review ever but I am hoping it dissuades people from using this florist ever. I just had a delivery guy come to my desk to delivery flowers for someone on another floor here at Kaiser Permanente in Fairfax . We are a four story building. I will start with their customer service. With the 2016 DC snowstorm, the flowers were delayed in their delivery. This is not the fault of Exotica Florist - the roads were a mess (not driveable for days), and the office they were being delivered to was closed on the date(s) they were to be delivered. Exotica Florist handled this incredibly well. They were efficient, responsive, and made every attempt to deliver the flowers as soon as possible and followed up with a gracious email and future credit for the inconvenience. I was thoroughly impressed with and appreciative of how they handled the entire situation. I will end with the flowers/arrangements themselves. I absolutely love the flowers. They are beautiful, smell wonderful, and could not be more perfect. If I could give zero stars I would. My husband paid who knows what... $100, $150? For my valentines day present... One dozen pink roses... To be delivered on Valentine's Day to my office. Here I am less than 24 hours later looking at them and two of the heads of these overpriced roses have dropped and therefore are dead. I called the EXOTICA FLORIST to ask them about their 24 hour guarantee they have on their card that is in my arrangement and they told me if I wanted to drive 30 minutes to their store they would give me two replacement roses. I reminded them that my husband paid dearly to have them delivered and that 24 hour guarantee on their card should mean in the same manner in which you received your flowers. He didn't drive there and pick them up, he paid to have them delivered. Then she tried to say if more flowers didn't look good then they would re-deliver... So, should I have just said the whole bunch looks terrible? I asked her again if they wanted to honor the guarantee that is on the card and have a nice review online from me or if they'd rather have a poor review online from me, and she literally said "Well we can't deliver just two flowers." You can get a very nice arraignment that will last you a while for a good price. You might have to negotiate the price and the flowers for the arraignment, but it's all worth it. The guy who took my order is very nice ( I highly suspect he was the owner, but he denied it) and sooo helpful. Very disappointed in my experience with this florist through 1-800-Flowers. Ordered flowers to be delivered to my mom for her birthday, and while they were delivered the correct day, they came wilted, half dead, and without water. My mother was upset with the delivery, and I contacted 1-800-Flowers to rectify the problem. They were prompt to have this company redeliver. The driver was rude to my mother, both on the phone and in person, by yanking the previous delivery out of her hand and shoving the new one toward her. I believe his name is Shawn. Unfortunately her experience overshadowed the thoughtfulness behind my gift. There's plenty of other florists in the area...look elsewhere. read more

Wow! I couldn't believe how fresh and beautiful the flowers were from this florist!! I was in a wedding about a month ago and everything from the men's flowers to the centerpieces was perfect! Vibrant colors and secure bindings made the arrangements perfect for a wedding. The women came and set everything up all we had to do was grab bouquets and walk down the aisle. I would avoid this florist at all costs (particularly as you're paying for what you won't receive). So, my Mom ordered me flowers with a balloon for my birthday through her local florist who used 1800flowers to effect cross country delivery. She specifically requested Star Gazer Lilies, as they are my favorite, the proprietress of the local California shop (whose been lovely) contacted three places in my area in Virginia to make certain they had the Star Gazers To complete the order. Exotica stated they had the flowers to the CA shop and the extra fee for the lilies. My Mom called Exotica to double check and was told they had them though they were hard to come by (not exact words). So they told 2 separate people they had the flowers when they didn't. Later info (about 6 hours after delivery) was given saying it takes 3 days to order for those lilies by Exotica to my Mom. The flowers ended up being delivered (while I was at work so my hubby received them & I didn't know they were coming) and there was no balloon and less than an inch of water. He sent a pic to my Mom as requested and she noticed no balloon and didn't think they were the right lilies but couldn't tell from the pic. She immediately contacted Exotica who offered to deliver the balloon or refund her the almost 6 bucks from the lack of balloon and apologized. Mom took the refund so the company wouldn't have to drive out for just a balloon (thoughtful on my Mom's part and the correct response on the florists as well.) The customer service stopped there. I came home saw the flowers and called Mom to thank her and she told me about the balloon (no biggie at 1st) then she accidentally let slip the 130$ price tag since they charge more 4 Star Gazers. I told her she didn't get what she paid for. Long story a bit shorter, she contacted Exotica, Mom explained she didn't get what she paid for and offered 3 possible options in a polite way to correct the 2nd mistake, deliver the correct flowers and take the incorrect ones back or they could give her a partial refund due to being charged and paying more for specific flowers which weren't delivered and leave at that or, however, my Mom wasn't allowed to present her third idea as the woman from Exotica, who said she was the manager told my Mom she was arrogant and condescending and rude. My Mom then became upset that she was being treated rudely when she was just trying to find a solution and told her they ruined the gift not only by messing up the balloon but by messing up the flower order. I'd like to point out they had 3 jobs, assembling the correct flower order, making sure there was a balloon and delivering it and they only correctly managed the delivery portion. My Mom had been very willing to try and find a solution, however, the Exotica lady apparently wasn't interested but was interested in keeping the overpayment for a product not delivered. I should mention here that Exotica proudly proclaims on the card delivered with the personal message on their flowers that they have a 24 hour guarantee if they ever don't meet your expectations (they say more but that's the gist of it). Not so apparently. Keeping in mind this is the 3rd call to Exotica (1st to verify the star gazers, 2nd to correct the balloon and 3rd to try and fix the incorrect flower order & now receiving excuses without solutions, rudeness and nothing resembling customer service) my Mom told her she would be disputing the transaction with her credit card company and ended the call. Here we are 48 hours later and the roses in the arrangement are wilting, drooping and have started shedding petals. My Mom contacted the California florist who received pictures of everything I've detailed, to include the card listing a guarantee not honored, and has removed Exotica as a VA provider for flowers. How surprised I was when I checked Yelp to see we aren't the only ones who've had extremely similar experiences. Do not waste your time, money, effort and most importantly, your special occasion on a florist who didn't follow through on their guarantee, are forgetful with their key products and have poor customer service. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

We were sent a green plant that was small, strange looking, crooked and unattractive, especially for the $60 that someone paid for it. I politely called the manager, tried to describe what it looked like and said I would email 2 photos so he could judge whether it was an acceptable product or not. Never heard from him after that! ( Mind you, a card came with the plant stating that Exotica prides themselves on the beauty of their arrangements and wanted to hear about any dissatisfaction that customers have.) I have ordered from this place several times over the years and usually my experience exceeded my expectations. However, I don't know if there was a recent change in staffing, management, process or something else because my latest experience was extremely disappointing and dissatisfying. I ordered flowers for my friend for her birthday to be delivered to her at her job.. When the flowers were not delivered by 2:30pm I called. I was told the driver was 15 minutes away and the flowers would be delivered shortly. An hour later the flowers were still not delivered. After two additional phone calls and two hours later I learned the flowers were still not delivered because the driver supposedly had car trouble. Never once did the florist contact me or my friend, they had telephone numbers for both of us to explain what was going on. The flowers were finally delivered after 5pm, after her work day and on her way out the door. To top it off her name was completely misspelled (although I spelled it correctly when I submitted the online order and even double checked my confirmation from the order to ensure there was no typo). I cannot recommend ordering from this place unless you have the time and patience to spend on the phone tracking your order and/or looking to disappoint the receiptent of the flowers. For my trouble they offered to refund me 20% of my total. Not good enough. read more

Exotic came to the rescue after a very very dissapointing interaction with Greensleeves. We had a special order made for prom with detailed arrangements for wrist corsage with tear drop crystals on a lilly. The glue gave out later in the evening on some of the main jewels they attached to the flower BUT, we have to say that EXOTICA was at least willing to give it a try and they charged us accordingly, very reasoanble for the effort they gave to the whole process. I ordered flowers to be delivered to my fiancee's workplace. She loves yellow spider mums so I asked if they can do an arrangement of those for around $40-$50 including delivery. They said sure. I gave my credit card info and told them to write a specific message. The next day my fiancee calls and says she got flowers from someone else. Basically they goofed on my name and written a similar sounding name. I thought, ok, no biggie. It happens, right? I then checked my online credit card statement and saw they had charged over $65 for the purchase. Plus, my fiancee said she didn't think these were spider mums, at least, not what she'd always known to be spider mums. She brought them home and I googled spider mums and the first page of images all look different than what we had. There is definitely a similarity, but what we were given were not at all the typical spider mum. I called Exotica and got a nice man who, first, agreed to refund some of the charge since it went above the $50 maximum I had wanted. He also apologized for the mistake in the message name. Regarding the type of flowers, I offered to send a pic of what we were given through email. He said sure and after I emailed the pic he wrote back saying what they had sent were a variety of spider mums. I responded saying fine, but then what do you call the ones that are all over Google, since those are the spider mums my girlfriend likes and I'd like to know precisely what to ask for in the future? He basically responded with, "We're not sure." To be fair, he did offer to replace the flowers we were given, however I didn't respond. The ones we got are in a perfectly nice looking arrangement, but obviously it wasn't exactly what we had wanted. I'm not saying it was a horrible experience, but there was definitely more than one slip-up that makes me wonder if it's worth purchasing from them again.
