A great big thanks to Angela and Dan! I first called , Angela said by all means come on in. As I live in the neighborhood I was there in three minutes. Angela walked out the side door to look at the bike's computer. As I had been unable to remove it in order to determine its efficieny she easily removed it from its base. As Dan was pulling in from a bike tuneup ride he then was asked to look things over and proceeded to attach a new sensor to the spoke. Both Angela and Dan we're so pleasant in doing the work and it is mumuch appreciated! Ultimate thanks to John Gromek hiring pleasant and competent people! read more

I was having a problem with my bike, Todd and his employees were incredible. Todd the owner went above and beyond for me to fix the problem. I would recommend that anyone looking for a bike or repair go to Exeter cycles, you cannot go wrong. The best bike shop I have ever been to, period. read more

This is a great shop, period. The customer service and expertise in the back are both outstanding. I recently ran across a frame issue with my bike and Exeter Cycles worked with the manufacturer to make it right. I highly recommend this shop if you are looking for a bike or need a good mechanic to wrench your bike. read more

Lots of cool stuff for sale by people who love cycling. It's my main stop to get the specialty parts and service I require. Buy local and support our friends. read more

More then friendly people are willing to make all your needs with cycling a priority. Thanks Rich and Faron. My granddaughters love their new bikes. read more

I am a student and I can only leave campus on Sundays (classes Mon-Fri, and XC meets on Sat). Guess when they're closed? Sunday. They have no hours on Sunday. I'm not sure if this is a staffing issue or an intentional decision, but it seems like it could be resolved very easily. I guess my bike will stay broken all term until I can go back to Boston and get it fixed at a place with better hours. read more

Very helpful service. I appreciate the range of options and the explanation of what I would get at different price points. Totally great since I had limited knowledge of what I was looking for (newbie here!) I happed to have my shoes with me, and he even put the cleats on the shoes and taught me how to adjust to my foot. Never caught the guys name, but he was very helpful! Thank you!! read more

Got tired of the inconsistent and aloof dealings with the big bike shops in Greater Boston. Found this amazing place that actually wanted to truly help me and made me feel valued as a customer. They helped me find an amazing gravel bike at a great price. It's about an hour's drive from Boston and worth every minute since their customer service and attentiveness outshines any experience you'd get from the ubiquitous bike stores in Greater Boston. read more

It does not get any better than Exeter Cycles as a locally owned and operated bike shop. Over the years this shop has morphed from a strict roadie shop to more focus on family and even e-bikes. This is not to discount that they have the best road bike equipment available and will get anything you need or want. Todd has brought in a friendly and extremely knowledgeable staff. There is no reason to buy anywhere else. Often times walk-ins are serviced immediately for small repairs, even when their service backlog is extensive. Their ability to adapt the bike to the rider is world class. Keep up the great work Todd, Jon, Lee, Ryan, Doug and Lauren. read more

One great experience here has been offset by an extremely lousy one, and I no longer deal with or recommend this place. I am all for supporting my local bike shop. I was in need of a wheel, and despite the fact that it's over an hour drive each way, I took the trip up to Exeter Cycles to give them my business. They had the wheel I needed in stock, and I was even willing to pay the almost 300% upcharge on the price vs. Amazon or eBay. (All bike shops are more expensive, so that's a non-issue.) What soured me on this place was as I was paying almost $300 for a single wheel that I could have picked up for under $100 online, I asked the bike tech to swap the disc rotor over as well. For the uninitiated, this is simply unscrewing six screws, moving the rotor to the new wheel that I was buying from them, and screwing them back in. That's it. It's at most a 60 second job. The clerk told me that there would be a $5 charge for it, and I honestly thought he was kidding. I jokingly mentioned that I was driving two hours round trip to support their shop, and buying a $300 wheel, and they were honestly considering charging me five dollars to unscrew and re-screw six bolts? The somewhat smug response from the clerk was "we get paid for our time". Now, we all get paid for our time. I took the time to drive there instead of going locally, and took the time to give them my business instead of going online. I paid the $5, and have never been back. I have since then spent several thousand dollars on new bikes, more gear and assorted parts and services from one of their competitors over in Epping, and couldn't be happier. If the management of Exeter Cycles reads this, I hope that $5 was worth it, because you would have had a lifetime customer otherwise. Your customers respect the fact that your time is valuable, but you need to teach your staff that your customers time is valuable as well. If someone tells you that they made a special two hour trip just to give you their business, do yourselves a favor and don't nickel and dime them at the register. Your customers are willing to pay a bit more for parts because of the service you provide - both technical service, and customer service. read more

This is my favorite shop on the planet. And I'm not just speaking hyperbole. The owner, JG and his crew, spearheaded by Billy, have an incredibly friendly, knowledgable, professional operation. Their bike selection is outstanding and they can get stuff at the snap of your fingers if it's not on site. Their location is perfect, easy parking... Plus their coffee in the mechanic area is tasty! read more

I love this store and all the wonderful mechanics and people who work here. I have purchased three bikes from them over the last few years and they are great at helping customers make informed decisions, fixing issues with my bikes and my boyfriend's bike. We stop here frequently and are always amazed at the great service offered by Exeter Cycles. I am totally loyal to this shop and recommend them to all my friends who need a bike shop for a bike or a repair. Additionally, they keep dog treats on hand and always have let me know my dogs are welcome in the store. My dogs love to go to Exeter Cycles also! read more

amazing service. helpful. quick. grateful for their time today with my bike repair.

I was visiting my brother in NH and wanted new pedals put on my Trek. It was a Saturday and first day of summer so I didnt expect this was possible. Not only did he put the pedals on, he took a lot of time measuring my shoes and setting up the cleats. When I said it was my first time with clips, he adjusted the pedals for easy access. I just tried them out and had no problems. While I love Wheelworks where I bought my bike, Saturdays are a zoo and no way would I have been able to do this. Thanks Exeter Cycles for a great customer experience. Wish I lived closer to you !! read more

Super friendly and knowledgable staff!! They helped me size a bike for my daughter, had it ordered, and put together for me. They are more expensive than than big stores but the quality is amazing compared to what you would find at Toys R Us. read more

Am always amazed by EC's expertise and customer commitment. They will spend so much time to make sure you are all set. As for the one negative review on Yelp, I would just say don't let one bad experience with an employee (who clearly messed up) spoil your overall perception. Exeter Cycles is the best! read more

I began my quest for a new bike about a month ago. I visited two other bicycle shops first, but did not have the confidence with their shop or personnel or explanations to proceed. However, from the moment I met John Gromek, the Owner of Exeter Cycles, I felt confident in his knowledge, the thoroughness of his education and explanations, his expertise and experience, his ability to find the right bike for my purposes, and his desire to provide excellent guidance in my selection. They have an excellent selection of bikes. The shop has been well know in the area for years and a place fthat seems to be able to service all abilities from highly competitive bicyclists, all the way down to kids. I am delighted with my experience and my purchase. They've made me into a loyal patron and advocate. Thank you, John! read more

Finally - a pleasant Saturday to cycle in March! So - I cycled from home in Melrose, MA, up to Exeter, planned on stopping for a quick, healthy lunch at Ani's Bagels, and then a brief visit with a dear elderly friend at Langdon Place. I would then loop back to Melrose - for a 106-mile ride. At about 40 miles my shifting was skipping a bit. I hesitated stopping at Exeter Cylces; they looked busy. Well, I peeked in the back door, and a mechanic (Ezra) was working on a bike but said with a smile, "Come on in, I'll take a quick look." Within 5 minutes he made a few adjustments, and when I offered to pay he said, "No charge." So off I happily went - with a bike that shifted beautifully. Thank you, Ezra, and thank you Exeter Cycles! And yes, I had a fantastic 106-mile bike ride! This is one of my favorite routes. read more
