I don't normally leave reviews but this guy deserves it! If I could leave 20 stars I would! Amaro is crazy meticulous! Long story short: I had an exceedingly long punch list of items that had been leftover from a previous contractor. I was tired of dealing with the unprofessionalism/untimeliness so prevalent in this industry. I found Amaro through Yelp and gave him a shot. The proposed tasks were certainly not easy. Of the 20+ items on my punch list, the most important task involved installing a through-wall AC in a very tight area that had poor support surfaces. The home is an old home and the wall simply wasn't built to withstand a heavy piece of equipment for extended periods of time. Amaro told me the pros and cons of placing the AC unit in the tight area and then, with my approval, built a custom made anchor piece to support the through-wall AC unit. He then created a custom frame around the AC so it would look very modern. In the exterior, he very carefully sealed the exterior holes with concrete stucco to match the house. Even though it was not discussed, he took it upon himself to paint the exterior concrete stucco to also match the color of the house. The next item on the list included replacing several exterior spot lights. I had purchased new flood lights thinking the old flood lights had suffered water damage to the internal electrical membrane. Upon opening up the fixture, Amaro was very honest and stated that the light could be fixed relatively inexpensively, but that he needed a piece from Home Depot. I was prepared to go to Home Depot. Astonishingly, Amaro went to Home Depot himself (he could have easily sent me), came back, and fixed the flood light for under $6 worth of material. What's more, he did me the favor of returning the replacement spotlight for me so I would not have to drive to Home Depot myself. The guy is truly exceptional. You simply don't find quality workers like him everyday. I'm a demanding client and he handled all my requests with ease and professionalism. Apparently, unbeknownst to many people, he's also incredibly funny!! In any event, when all was said and done, I had added several items to the original list. I attempted to pay Amaro more than our original quote given the extensive items added. He refused to accept more money and said he wanted me to be happy and feel that everything was handled fairly. I was blown away. This is after he had spent 13 long hours at my house. I would recommend him to anyone looking for honest service. His quoted price was extremely fair and, quite frankly, a bargain given the circumstances. I would absolutely use him again and trust that he would get the job done! I needed some retiling and regrouting work done quickly, Amaro and Elton didn't disappoint. I got a quick response from Amaro. He sent Elton, he reassured me that Elton was even better than him, and his reviews are great!! Elton came in for a free estimate, Elton and his assistant were very quiet, they got right to the point. We got the materials per his instructions and they were at the apartment within a day to complete the job. The work was meticulous and communication was great. The price was very competitive, I am very pleased with the work accomplished, on the other hand the only negative issue is that they were late both days. The first day 30 minutes late, the second and last day, over one hour. I respect people's times, and I hope people to do the same for me. I hope this vendor works on that, otherwise they are great. He assisted with several items, including adjusting a misaligned cabinet, repairing a custom living room curtain that had come loose, and inspecting and resolving shower drain issues. He was professional, punctual, knowledgeable, and took the time to ensure everything was completed properly. What stood out most was his attention to detail, fair pricing, and willingness to thoroughly troubleshoot issues rather than rush through the job. He communicated clearly throughout the process and treated the residence with great care and respect. It can be difficult to find reliable vendors who meet the standards required for luxury residences, but Amaro exceeded expectations. If you are looking for a cheap handyman to do a so-so job Amaro is not your man. But if you are looking for a job perfectly well done for a fair price, you cannot do better than with Amaro. Being a pretty handy perfectionist that had never used a handyman but is now forced to use one due to health and age, I am very critical of any work done in my property. Amaro tackled a variety of jobs including re-installing a toilet, fixing a massive shower glass door, correct a leaking pedestal sink and painting a very messy laundry room. Amaro saved my life after wrong size hurricane panels were delivered two days before "Hurricane Irma." He arrived as promised surveyed the job at hand & went right to work, cutting & adjusting the galvanized steel to fit on stationery tracks of my residence. Its better to contact him with a week or days in advance because he is very busy. I always wait to have a couple jobs for him and have him come over.
