DCILM contracted to replace my front steps, veneer on the landing and associated railing at a cost…read moreof several thousand dollars. The railing replacement went well - unfortunately the masonry work was problematic. Issues included: Failure to keep scheduled appointments with Client; failure to advise Client regarding delays for scheduled appointments, poor subcontractor selection (characterized by their failure to return to finish the original job); failure to supervise subcontractor activities; failure to manage the construction schedule; failure to come to the job site when scheduled and communicated to Client; failure to keep the Client apprised of delays and corrective action; lack of responsiveness to Client inquiries (telephonic or via email); improper selection of materials (brick and mortar); damage to landscaping during construction; failure to correct damaged / buried sprinkler heads post-construction; improper installation of brick with respect to step pitch resulting in water accumulation, algae growth, and creation of a safety hazard; improper installation of brick on facings; improper mortar mixing resulting in fracturing of installed mortar and unacceptable time to "complete" job (over three months). These failings have resulted in a significant safety hazard and are the proximate cause of a subsequent rebuild. The quality of brickwork was / is unacceptable, was recognized as such by the owner and I received repeated assurances that steps would be taken to "make it right". I worked with the owner of DCILM for over a year to address structural, safety and aesthetic issues with the rebuild of my front steps to no avail. As a result, I must now rebuild the previously paid-for project. The overall experience was extremely poor, ranking among the worst contractor performances I have been a party to over 40+ years and 10+ homes. DCILM is competent in general irrigation matters and limited installation of sod. I do not recommend them for services beyond those core competencies based upon my experience and I will not consider using them again for any service.
