This is a good location to stay. Lots of hotels in different price range ranges are within a 5 to 10 minute walk shopping and restaurants are all set within a 5 to 10 minute walk.

I have since passed through many times in the last 3.5 years and it is still magnificent. The architecture is very grandiose and picture-worthy. It is relatively easy to navigate; if I can do it as a tourist, I'm confident most can figure it out ;) The toilets (bathrooms) are a bit hidden. You need to go down a set of stairs for the ladies. The wallpaper reminded me of 2006 Victoria's Secret, and the doors are floor to ceiling offering the most privacy of any public restroom I have been in. The entire station is ridiculously clean compared to any US train or bus station I have traveled through. There are many options for coffee and food, as well as a mini M&S and Tesco Express.... Tesco Express meal deal for less than £4 cannot be beat!!! 5 stars for convince, cleanliness, friendliness, and Tesco Express.

My life is brilliant My love is pure I saw an angel Of that I'm sure She smiled at me on the subway She was with another man But I won't lose no sleep on that 'Cause I've got a plan..." Almost a carbon copy to my London Underground review written a year ago. And with James Blunt crooning you know it's a romantic tragedy waiting to happen... "Yes, she caught my eye As we walked on by She could see from my face that I was F-high And I don't think that I'll see her again But we shared a moment that will last 'til the end" Piccadilly Circus stop on the Piccadilly Line is part of the London Underground railway system that has been serving Londoners since 1890! And really with train lineage that dates to 1863! One can only imagine a young Jack the Ripper roaming the stations late at night... Piccadilly Circus stop is my usual stop when I'm staying in SOHO but I promise I'm not Jack lol! A convenient location, really... in the heart of London with the Theatre District a stones throw away and iconic Carnaby street within a stroll. Boots is the convenience store or Primark if you're into souvenir tees and socks. British Pubs a plenty too! Piccadilly Circus stop is also where I met my soul mate... pretty English-ish lady with Twiggy lashes and angelic Bardot lips. We made eye contact and... "You're beautiful You're beautiful You're beautiful, it's true I saw your face in a crowded place And I don't know what to do 'Cause I'll never be with you..." And no romantic tragedy here:) The end. "My life is brilliant... My life is brilliant My love is pure I saw an angel Of that I'm sure She smiled at me on the subway..." Ta! Ta!

Decent service running from Heathrow to, uh, Cockfosters. I know, I'm older than middle school, but…read moreit still amuses me to hear it repeated. Helpfully, the cars have a designated area for luggage storage. Just don't let your own luggage get out of your sight. The Piccadilly line splits at Acton Town, heading to the North for Uxbridge and slightly more South for Heathrow, which also splits at Hatton Cross with one line going to terminals 1-2-3 and then 5, and the other going to terminal 4 before returning to 1-2-3. This can be a bit confusing for the tourists who might have some trouble with English, let alone the mumbled version of the train drivers. In addition to Heathrow, the line also stops at King's Cross / St. Pancras for the Eurostar train to Paris. This makes it the most "touristy" of the Tube lines, so expect people to ask where "Lie-chest-er" Square is (it's "less-tuh"!). This is a very long tube line, completely crossing from the northeast of London to the west/southwest. It takes about an hour and a half to go from one end to the other. Still, it's extremely useful even as the cars fill to the brim between Holborn and Earl's Court and again from Hammersmith to Heathrow.

This post is about the HE in general…read more One of the reasons I like lhr is this Heathrow Express, a direct light rail that takes all but 15 minutes to Paddington Station in the city. I purchased tickets in advance, £10 one way (£25 on the spot). They're on time. The interior is clean. The seats are comfortable, although a little old, with charging ports.

This is by far the most convenient option from London proper to Heathrow Airport, but you'll pay for that convenience. Where you could reach the airport via a local train for much less, shell out the 20 - 25 pounds per person and you can ride on a direct train with zero stops. The train runs nonstop from Paddington Station, which is easily accessible by Tube. It leaves roughly every 15 to 30 minutes, but there are frequently closures and delays so make sure you allow plenty of time for your journey. In the 4 times I've used this service, twice it's been cancelled and I had to take the regular local train, so be aware. The train stops at Heathrow but the walk from the station to the terminal is quite far (allow at least 20 minutes, and even longer if you are slow or have a ton of bags). Also make SURE that you keep your ticket out because you have to scan in AND out once you reach LHR station. The train itself is nothing fancy, but they have free wi-fi and luggage racks for the short journey. The seats are comfy enough. They often run specials, so make sure you check our their website. Sometimes there are deals if you buy group tickets and it's cheaper if you purchase your tickets far in advance. This is the easiest option to get from the city to LHR by a mile.

There was a homeless man who resided under our window who, every night, coughed for three hours straight before he fell asleep. The kind of nauseating cough that harkens back to the age of sanitariums. Not pleasant for either of us I'm sure. * Toilet positioning. If you happen to have a left leg you may find sitting comfortably will pose an interesting challenge, at least if you get room 418. The toilet is next to the shower, and when I say next to the shower, I mean practically touching the glass shower wall. * Air temperature control. The room was chilly during the day, but hot and stuffy at night. The only way to control that was to open the window. Our windows were half covered with immobile wood shutters, which made opening them basically impossible. Also, refer to my first bullet point. * I'm not sure I got the room I booked. I pre-checked in hours before the room was ready, but when I returned to collect my room keys the front desk employee got squirrelly. She wrote down my name and scurried into a back office. When she came back she said something to the effect of, "Ok, I found a room for you." I found this curious as I had already did the heavy lifting of checking in, I just needed the keys, but after 24 hours of travel I just didn't have it in me to inquire. I just wanted a bed. This room did not have a sideboard-type table or a mirror outside of the bathroom, and there was absolutely no room to put either. And, of course, as previously mentioned, the window and bathroom situation. I let it go because we were only there three nights, but the more I think about it the more it annoys me.

Very hopping all day and night - it's near the theater district. - Value - from what I remember, I think I got a pretty good deal for what I got. Many of the hotels I looked in the area had tiny rooms that only fit a bed but this had so much room - great size bed and bathroom and desk and storage. - You get $ for not doing daily room cleanings. You can get 7 Euros per day for skipping the cleaning and you can use 2 of the credits at a time at the restraunt downstairs. We put it towards breakfast for one of the days. - Refillable filtered water on every floor and you get 2 refillable water bottles in the room along with a chocolate bar. - Pretty lobby and the staff were very helpful and nice. The bad: - The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because my side of the bed was super uncomfortable and hard to sleep in. I thought it was just me at first but I made my partner switch sides after 2 nights and he hated it as well. I have no idea why but one side of the bed was extra hard and bumpy or something. It gave me major backpains for the 2 nights that I slept in it. Luckily my partner was willing to switch with me and I had such a better night sleep after that.

If you don't want to carry your bags around with you while sight seeing (they call it "luggage" for…read morea reason), then Left Luggage is the place for you! Thanks to "The Troubles" and suchlike, there are no more baggage lockers in London and the UK. (No rubbish bins either!) These folks will xray your bags and store them securely while you're out and about. When it's time to get on your train or plane and continue your onward journey, give these people your ticket (there's a £15 'administrative fee' if you lose it), pay for the time and you're off. Prices are a little on the steep side - £8.50 per item for the first 24 hours and then £5 for every other 24 hours at this time. It still might be worth it to be free of encumbrance. Note that they also sell luggage if your stuff is looking a little threadbase and busted up and they'll shrink wrap your bags too! Also, they are not open 24 hours so check their hours.
